  1. 2017 1500 SLT, 52kmiles, stock other than GM/Borla. Truck is never used for towing, but is my daily driver. I noticed recently there is an "odd" upshift between 2nd and 3rd at random times. Usually after driving for a while. Took it in to the dealer who says all is good, no burned fluid and can't duplicate the issue--they say they took it up to ~190. I drove the truck about 470 miles this weekend on vacation after dealer cleared it, but monitored the tranny temps more closely and noticed on the long highway drive with minimal cargo/passengers temp is sitting around 225-232. Ambient temps in the upper 90's. This seems high to me with very little load, but I never really paid attention to temps prior to the shifting issue... so no baseline to compare to. What temps are expected/normal?
  2. I want to start by saying i understand i am working my truck a tad hard. And I AM going to continue. I just want to protect it as much as possible while doing that. I have a 2014 silverado with the 4.3 v6. 102,000 miles and never a problem. Owned since new. When i haul heavy up gravel roads my tranny gets hot like....220-240. I am a carpenter and pull materials and box trailers. I installed a snow plow this year which is snow moving so not a lot of air moving past radiator. I have hit 250 before. I had the transmission flushed at 50,000 and again at 100,000. But i would like to get my temps down. I am thinking an aftermarket fan? An additional tranny cooler? From what i read the tranny cooler is basically built into the radiator. And because the engine runs so hot you wont get too much cooling ability. Also it dosnt start actively cooling until 190? So i guess i need to adjust my thinking to the trucks 190 and up temperature range. But I am not happy with 230 for hours on end. I dont plow commercially just a few small drive ways. Any technical advice, not just opinions(lol) would help.
  3. I got a 2006 Tahoe that needed an engine. found a remanufactured (z code engine) had installed with new water pump, radiator and thermostat ( have replaced 3 times with factory 187 degree stat). Now the engine runs about 165 to 175 on the road. When idling it will get up to about 210 and will stay there all day idling fans turning on and off working normally. But when I drive temp drops back down to 165-175. Has anybody sean this and know what the issue might be? I’m checking coolant temperature with ODBII scanner and gage.
  4. 2015 chevy 1500.. 3400 miles. A couple of times the heat didn't work. It always did "next time".. the other day I had to take a 3 hour drive.. it didn't work the whole way there...stopped for an hour..headed back still with no heat (it was 42* so it was not pleasant) Took to dealer - they said they cant find anything wrong, of course, and of course the he was working fine. Its only done this a couple of times in the past 2 months now. Anyone experienced anything similar? It blows out air, and it will adjust the fan speed properly (or what I'm guessing WOULD be properly if it was blowing out heat) based on the temp of the cab. Even when taken off of auto and just turned temp to hi and fan speed up, with AC button off, it was still blowing cold air. Any ideas? Could it somehow be user error? (doubtful) Also when the AC button is on, even when its on heat, is the AC really still running? seems dumb that lights always on even when you have the temp high and its blowing heat.
  5. 2015 Chevy Suburban with 130k, transmission went just like everyone else's, so I had it rebuilt at a outside shop with a trusted mechanic but I keep on having to bring it back. He rebuilt it and it took a week for the converter and the new gears to shift smoothly once again (normal). But now Im having problems with the temperature. My transmission temp is skyrocketing to 260 degrees with no check engine light coming on. After doing further investagation and taking the dipstick out and looking at the fluid and touching the stick it wasn't burnt or hot at all. The stick was cold. This is causing both my fans to blow cold air which is doing nothing and the temperature stays. The engine temperature is normal around 190. I love these trucks but with the amount of money put into them to keep is insane.
  6. Hello GM lovers, I’m back again, with hat in hand, asking for help. Recently, I charged my a/c system back into the proper amount of coolant. Now living in the Desert, “cool” air is considered about 80 degrees on a 110 degree day. So all was fine while running the air. One day the blower motor decided it was done working. After schematic searching, I thought I would try the climate control module. That was not the issue. Then I optested the blower motor itself, and voila, it worked, so that lead me to belive it was the resistor. I changed the resistor, and had to rewire the harness, and blew the fuse. Changed the fuse, blower works. Air compressor kicks on, and I have cold freon going into the condensor. However, I am getting 100 degree air out of the vents. Can anyone help? If I have forgotten something that I may not know of (because I may not know of it) please educate me.
  7. My 2102 Sierra SLT with automatic dual temperature controls recently started blowing full cold regardless of the temperature setting. It's been hot outside, so I don't mind on short trips, but on a longer ride, I keep turning the temperature up and it just keeps blowing full blast on cold, freezes you out. The outside ambient temperature reads correctly, so I'm thinking maybe the cabin temperature sensors have gone bad. I'm not sure where to find them and how to test them. Otherwise I suppose it's in the Body Control Module? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
  8. Hey guys so I have a 2019 Silverado 1500LD with a 3.42 rear end with 11k on the clock. I've been noticing that my engine or coolant temp goes passed 210F but when it hits the next 1/8 gauge stick it goes back down passed the middle mark to 190°F. Is that normal for 7000 pounds uphill towing in 95°F weather. Talking about the 5N grapevine in Cali for those who know the climb.
  9. My 2018 denali changes one of the digital gauges to tranny temp when I press tow-haul. Does the 2019 AT4 with tech pkg do the same, or do you have to go in the trailering app, etc.?
