What suggestions or advice is available for buying a GMC | Chevy truck? What should I watch out for -- the GOOD and BAD? I want to come back to the GMC | Chevy family. For over 20 years, we owned a 98 GMC Suburban, putting over 230k miles on it myself, and I LOVED that truck. Other than typical wear and tear -- I never had any problems or issues with my Suburban. I am looking at 2016-2022 -- GMC | Chevy 1500 | 2500 series, all trims (4x4), except the base models. My budget is around $35k plus'ish; yes, I understand my budget limits what I can get. I am a USAF retired veteran living off a fixed income. Yes, we tow hitch pull RVs and various trailers, but not as often as before. What are the GOOD, BAD, and UGLY these days on the GMC | Chevy trucks? Is the additional price for either diesel and/or 2500 worth it? SHORT STORY: so, a few years ago, I bought a 2015 Ram 1500 4x4 EcoDiesel 6cyl w/turbo Lonestar -- well, I have been disappointed with Chrysler | Fiat (FCA). They lied about the EcoDiesel, and after forced recall ECM updates, they sucked all performance and mpg from the truck. Buying a newish GMC | Chevy, I do not want to fall into what happened with my 2015 Ram. When I had my suburban, I never had so many recalls, been lied to, and never had poor performance. Thanks for any suggestions that you will provide -- Gary (ExFalconFxr)

Hey Everyone, I'm looking to convert from a tundra to a 2021 sierra. I've been across the board on the dealerships and have negotiated one down a bit, but wanted to get your opinions. I'm looking at the sierra 1500 Elevation package. Additions are front bucket seats, multipro tailgate, upgraded color, 5.3 v8 10 speed, and x31 off road package. This brings the total MSRP to $53580 including the destination charge. They have offered $4,000 in discounts, $6250 in rebates, and $8000 for my 08 tundra with 170k on it. This brings the total OTD difference to $37500 tax title and tag. What are your thoughts on this? I've got an offer for a chevy RST at essentially the same price but a lower trade in, $44255 vehicle price. I see the Elevation being better than a Chevy RST + I get the 10 speed automatic with GMC. What are your thoughts? I'm new to the GM world so any advice is welcomed!

I recently acquired a 1951 Chevrolet 6100 missing its engine and would like to refurbish it. However, Instead of putting in the original engine (Chevrolet 235) I am looking for an engine that came out in the next 10-15 years to put in my truck that will out put 200+ horsepower without being out of touch with the truck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey y'all, having issues with my 2015 Silverado. Towards the end of a 300+ mile road trip my truck's engine shut off while stopped at the turnoff of an exit. I restarted it drove to a gas station and then started it again to go home with no more issues. In the morning I had a hard start then drove to my job site and while I was waiting to go in parked in my parking spot the engine shut off again so I restarted it again. It ran about 5 minutes then shut off again. When i went to restart it my check engine light popped on, dash reads reduced engine power, and it will crank not start. I popped on my code reader and I am showing three codes p1682, p0650, and p062b. I have 113k miles. Does anyone have any ideas????

My buddy just got a 2017 Sierra SLT Z71 after his old truck died. The Sierra has a 4" Rancho lift kit on it that the previous owner had installed. To keep a long story short, my buddy & I drove to the shop where his old truck was located to pick it up as they were able to make it driveable. He drove his old truck back & I followed him in the Sierra. He lives on a farm with narrow dirt roads & I had to move over to the far left of the road as there was a tractor going in the opposite direction. I hit a roughly 7" deep pothole that I couldn't see as there was grass around it while trying to get around the tractor. After arriving at my buddy's house we both noticed the left front wheel grinding on the well when I turned in, & also that the truck is a little more than 2" lower on the left side than the oppsosite side (Please see pictures, I've uploaded 2 of the side that is lower). My biggest concern is that after spending nearly 2 hours looking over everything, we can't locate the reason for the leaning. Since I was driving it I'm going to have to pay for it, & neither of us are mechanics, so I would greatly appreciate any information as to what the issue could be, if anyone in here has experienced the same thing & what was needed to fix it, etc. Sorry for the long post, I'm new to this. *Edit* After very carefully going over the undercarriage pictured below we discovered a crack in the control arm (albeit a small one) & also discovered that the sway bar link on the driver's side is bent fairly badly. Hopefully that's all it is but I'm wondering if those two things alone can account for a 2" drop & the wheel being off center.

I'm conducting research for GM trucks and was wondering where customers enjoy buying mods. Here's a quick survey for truck owner to fill out: http://villanova.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cBeObYnikUpWdIV

I could really use some advice, I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 4.8l rwd. I'm buying a used truck very soon, either a 2005 Silverado 1500hd LS at 135k miles for $10k or a 2005 Sierra 1500hd SLE at 156k miles for $8.5k. They are both stock and same condition exterior. I am looking to put a cam, tune, stage 2 trans, 6in lift and some other goodies in it. I am completely stuck on which one to get, any experiences or advice could really help me.
