  1. I scrolled through a few pages looking for another post on the issue with no luck, so I apologize if this has come up before. I have a 2021 Silverado 1500 Custom, 5.3L 6 speed. About 80k km on it. A couple months ago I had it parked on a bit of a hill outside my office, facing uphill. Probably had been sitting for a couple hours since I last drove it. I started it up and a big cloud of blue/black smoke came out of the tail pipes and smelled like burnt oil. Smoke cleared pretty quick and that was it. I didn't see this happen again for another few weeks, but once again, parked the exact same way as before, I started it up and a huge cloud of smoke and burnt oil smell. I had parked the same way lots of times in between both smoke shows. I haven't seen it do this since. I had it in at Chev today for an oil change and the tailgate recall and I told them about this. They had a red seal tech check it out. No signs of leaking valves, no codes thrown and he couldn't recreate it. They charged me $170 to tell me they couldn't find anything wrong except the oil level was low (but they didn't say by how much) but that it's normal for these trucks to burn 3L or so of oil every 10k km. They even had documentation from GM Canada backing that up. But just to be safe, they want to track the oil consumption and every 1000km, I have to go back to the dealership, let the truck sit for 15 min and then they check the oil level and log it. I'm in the last 20k km of my powertrain warranty so if something is going on, I want to get it dealt with before it costs me. Anyone experience something similar? My buddy suggested adding a catch can, but to also have the valves and rocker taken apart and cleaned out. This is way above my skill set and sounds expensive. I don't buy the "this is normal operation" argument because if it was, I would have seen it happening sooner. My driveway is level and I've never seen it happen when I start it at home, so I definitely think hill parking it is a piece of the puzzle.
  2. Hey guys, I have a 2020 Silverado 3.0l Duramax. I'm looking for the gm filling procedure. I wasn't able to find it and was going to try a local dealership for it if this doesn't pan out. I know the temp needs to be brought up and gears cycled through, but I was hoping for an official document for it. If anyone has it I'd appreciate it.
  3. Any ideas why Chevy Silverado won't start after replacing dead battery with a new battery?
  4. AYYYYOOOO, So I have a 2016 Silverado 5.3L 1500 High Country with a K and N series 77 cold air intake and a Borla ATAK cat back Dual Exhaust and I am looking for the best/recommended tuner to go with.... Really I just want overall better drivability comfort and power, disable the speed control limit and AFM disable functions. After some research that I have done I have noticed multiple mixed reviews and could not decide which one to go with. Here is a list of the ones that were most talked about and was wondering if any of these would best suit my truck or if there is something else out there: Bully Dog 40417 GT Platinum Tuner DiabloSport 9245 Trinity 2 EX Platinum DiabloSport 7220 Predator 2 Platinum Superchips Flashpaq F5 Tuner Thanks in advance!!
  5. Hello, Looking to upgrade my 2017 Silverado 1500 LTZ 4WD. I am set on the 4" BDS Lift kit with the Fox shocks. Is there any benefit to the BDS Recoil System Traction bar upgrade? Or any benefit to the Rear leaf springs upgrade instead of the 4" blocks? Secondly, I am deciding on whether I should get 33" tires or 35" - Any suggestions. Don't want 33's to look small, but don't want 35's to look to big or not fit. Wanting the Nitto Ridge Grappler Tires and Fuel Rebel 8 D679 20x10 Rims. Any suggestions on the BDS upgrades or Tire sizes is greatly appreciated. First time lifting a truck. Thanks!
  6. I bought a 2015 Silverado 1500 lt double cab 5.3L V8 4x4 with 12,000 miles on it a couple months ago. It now has just under 20k miles and when I went to check the oil there where metal shavings on the end of the dipstick. Concerningly big metal shavings. I brought it in to my local GM dealer and they told me that it's from the dipstick scraping on the dipstick tube. They didnt run any tests on it they just drained it and looked in the oil itself and didnt find any shavings (so they said). Which sounded a little shady to me so I started looking to see if anyone else had this problem and I found a few cases similar but not enough for me to come to a solid conclusion. The pickup runs great and I dont hear or feel any problems but any insight would be greatly appreciated. I thought about sending a sample to be tested myself but I dont know of any good company's near me that do it. Any recommendations on that would great too. Thanks
  7. I have a 2015 Silverado with the 5.3L that just had the number 7 lifter collapse.... Just normal acceleration and lost power. Sounds like this is a common issue with the AFM engines... I took it in to the Chevy dealer and they want way too much to replace the lifter and check the cam for wear. Of course, my warranty was done 20k ago at 160k so I'm wondering what are my best options. Does it make sense to repair and hope nothing else goes wrong or spend the money on a new or salvage engine with low km and pay to put that in?? I'd like to keep the truck for a long time if possible. What would you do in this situation?
  8. Pic of me boat, camper and 2010 Silverado 1500 extended cab. Loved the truck, it pulled like a dream. 2014 with bigger engine should do even better! Good times, great truck!
