OK everyone I want to give thanks ahead for any advice and help. Truck in question= 2003 Chevy Suburban Z71, 5.3 L Transmission= 4L60-E So the story started when I was going down the road at about 50mph in cruise control, when suddenly I heard the engine begin to rev up. I hit the brake to take it out of cruise control and the engine stopped revving up. Apparently I lost transmission of power from the engine to the wheels because no matter what gear I put it into now, I get no movement from the vehicle. No reverse and no D1, 2 or 3. When I put the vehicle in park and attempt to push the vehicle it will not roll. When placed in any other gear I can then roll the vehicle freely. Before this happened: Since owning the vehicle 4x4 has always been shifty.....hehehe...sorry couldnt help it. I have the model where there are 4 buttons with lights the buttons are located left hand of dash near the turn signal. When I first got the truck sometimes it seemed like it didnt want to switch between gears. for example I would have to hit the button multiple times before it would switch and even then it seemed like it hadnt really switched but the lights would indicate it had. Most of the time the light for the button I selected would flash multiple times and then return to previous selection. Often times after turning the vehicle off and then returning to vehicle to go somewhere I would find that the light has switched back to a gear that it wasnt in when i left the vehicle. It seems to favor 4x4hi. As of lately I havent been able to get the lights to switch at all. It seems to be stuck in 4hi permanently. I have tested the 4wd switch and its fine. I tried unhooking battery for half hour with lights on to reset PC. I then reconnected battery cable and turned vehicle on but not start it. Then I pulled a bunch of fuses and plugged them back in. ( seen it in a video and the guy said it was supposed to wake up the TCCM) Well that did nothing. I have the truck off of all wheels right now and was trying to figure out if the transfer case is stuck in neutral. With the truck in drive as I turn the rear draft the front moves also. I am assuming that means it is in 4wd. But should I have someone hold the front drive shaft while i turn the rear drive shaft to confirm its not just from friction or something. I actually have the front drive shaft partly out right now in an attempt to get at and remove the shift motor and manually put the transfer case into 2hi. I am also considering changing out solenoids. I have gathered it is unlikely the shift solenoids. Is it possible it could be one of these: 1 * EPC (Pressure Control) Solenoid 1 * PWM Solenoid 1 * Manifold Pressure Switch 1 * TCC Solenoid w/Harness Another thing I suspect which would be an easy fix is the transfer case fluid level. I removed the fill plug and nothing came out. I can tell it has been leaking. I would have already topped it off but I have been stuck at home (no running vehicle lol). Could low fluid cause this issue? I hope that's all it is lol. Anyways I got a ride to the store tomorrow and to look at a back-up vehicle. Anything you guys recommend to grab from the parts store while I'm in town tomorrow? What would be your guys recommendation on how to solve this problem and fix it? All help is appreciated. thanks in advance, Aaron

2019 Silverado WT has the power tailgate. It’s stuck on one side. The passenger side latch comes undone but the driver side does not. Any ideas on how to get it open? Can’t find anything jammed and the tailgate is on properly. Not sure how I’m going to get it open.

Hi, the wipers on my 2012 GMC Yukon are very slow, so I'm trying to repair them before they become fully seized. I removed the nut that holds the wiper blade onto the bolt. Please see the attached photo, but it almost appears that there is a small washer at the base of the bolt that is stuck in place. I've tried using quite a bit of force to remove the blade with no luck. I realize it's difficult to see in the photo. The bolt is currently soaking with some WD40. If that doesn't work, I'll look around for a wiper blade pulling tool. Any other thoughts? Is there some material on here that looks like it doesn't belong? Just added a second photo after cleaning the bolt. You can see the silver metal around the base of the bolt much clearer now. Not sure what that is, or if it needs to come off, or if it's part of the wiper? Thanks, Chris

I have a 99 gmc sierra that I just bought. While im driving down the road I noticed a whine in the drivetrain, I noticed that the 4wd switch wasnt lighting up so I checked the fuses and the ATC fuse had been removed. I put in the correct fuse and the 4wd switch came on. Once it came on it said the truck was in 4hi. I tried to switch it into 2hi and theres a whining noise coming from the transfer case. It makes 2 long whining noises and the 2hi light flashes the it goes right back to 4hi. I cant get it to change into any other mode (4lo, auto4, 2hi). I bought the truck a week ago and im scared im going to grenade the transfer case by driving it like this. Can you please point me in the right direction.

My passenger side window on my 2014 GMC Sierra get stuck on I try to put it up. It goes up a little bit and then stops and gets stuck and then goes up a bit more and stops. I took the door apart and I can't see where the problem is. It moves so I don't think its the motor or regulator but I'm not sure. Anyone got any ideas?

I am working on a 2002 Chevy 2500 HD. The ignition key is sticking when you turn it, and will remain in the cranking position sometimes. I swapped out the ignition cylinder and key, everything is all good there. I also know that the cylinder and key is not the issue, because when the cylinder is removed, if you take a large flat head screwdriver and turn the "recepticle" (female end) of the ignition cylinder, it still sticks. I tried lowering the igntion switch and even without the switch in place, it still sticks. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys, I know its the truck forum but its built on the same frame and most of the same parts. I have an 09 Tahoe hybrid with the nav and I tried a new nav disk the other day because the dealer I bought my tahoe from decided not to give me the nav disk with it. It started out loading ok got a quarter of the way through the process and failed and gave me an error "Caution cannot load system software disk type incorrect please insert correct system disk" Problem is I cannot get anything to respond to open the face and insert the disk again. Any idea on opening the face. There has to be a sequence of buttons to push and make it open. Ive tried holding the eject button to no avail. I attached a pic of the screen and buttons so you see what im working with. Thanks for the help.

I've had this 95 GMC K1500 for a few years now and haven't had use of my 4 wheel drive for most of the time. When I bought the truck I could shift into 4H but it was difficult. To shift into 4L was nearly impossible. By the time winter rolled around I tried to throw it in 4H and the lever wouldn't budge. The shifter is completely locked in 2H. Any idea what the issue could be? I haven't been able to find much on this issue. Thanks.

Hello, I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500LT 5.3L V8 Midnight Edition. Can someone explain to me the proper usage of 4WD? I haven't had to turn it on until today when the snow was bad. The problems I experienced were that the truck would basically not work in reverse with 4WDHI engaged. When I was backing out of my driveway with 4WDHI engaged, I would press on the accelerator and it would move somewhat, though really slowly and it didn't seem correct. This was the first time I had really used 4x4 on this truck so I didn't think anything of it. Well after driving an hour to work with 4x4HI engaged, through backroads and highway, I had to back into my parking spot and it wouldn't do it. I pulled up and put it in reverse and cut the wheel and it didn't really go anywhere proportionate to the amount of gas I was giving it. So I switched it to 2WD and it worked like a charm. I doubt something is wrong with the truck so I'm hoping someone can explain to me how this is to be properly used and what the desired functionality is. If it's not good to shift the drive in motion, I'm expected to change it to 2WD whenever I want to reverse? What if the lot wasn't plowed and snow was so thick I really needed the 4WD to reverse? Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Ignition - Dead - Ghost - Wont Start - Intermittent

Nov. 11, 2014, Northeast Pennsylvania, 2005 Sierra 1500 5.3L *Work Truck w/109000 miles on odometer: After driving for about an hour, I stop at a customer's home [at about 3pm], shut truck off, take key out, get out, and close door. About 20 minutes later, I get back in, place key in ignition, and turn key. Nothing. No starter sound; no lights on dash. It's like there's no battery. So, I breathe and try, again. This time, truck starts right up, like there's nothing wrong. What the heck was that? I driveicon1.png home, park, turn truck off, and get out. At home, I take battery out and place on a charger overnight. ...................... Nov. 12, 2014: I take battery to auto parts retailer who tests it. The test reveals, the battery is good (should start truck) but, is weak (needs a charge). So, I put battery back in truck, connect the cables, get in, put key in ignition, turn key, and it starts right up, like nothing's wrong. While engine is running, I place a load tester on battery. Test reveals, battery is good and alternator is charging well. While running, I drive truck to mechanic, explain everything I know to mechanic, and leave truck. Two days later, mechanic gives truck back, and says, it started right up "Every Time", and he can't find anything wrong with it. The mechanic charged me $20.00 ....................... Nov. 15, 2014: After driving for about 45 mins, I turn truck off, take out key, and get out. About two hours later, I get back in, put key in ignition, turn key, and it's like there's no battery. I leave key in ignition and get out, walk away for about 5 mins., come back, get in, turn key, and truck starts right up, like there's nothing wrong. ...................... Nov. 22, 2014: First thing in the morning, I disconnect the trickle charger and click the Viper remote starter button [twice in a row] to start the truck. Nothing happens as if the system is dead. So, I wait a few seconds and try, again – nothing. So, I wait another few seconds and try, again. This time, the truck starts right up like there’s nothing wrong. …………………….. I can't find a TSB, Special Service Adjustment, or other such bulletins on this issue however, I've discovered other GM vehicles with such related problem(s). Read this for instance: http://www.carcomplaints.com/Chevrol...starting.shtml and, http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topi...is-dead-today/ * work-truck: In 2007, bought it 2nd hand from a Stroudsburg, Pa GM dealer. It had 7,800 miles on the odometer. -
2005 GMC Sierra 1500 Gear Shift Problems ONLY when Cold
jmpidgeo posted a question in Ask the GM Technician
Hello everyone, I recently acquired a 2005 GMC Sierra with the L33 5.3, 4L60E automatic, and push button 4x4. Every morning since I got the truck, there has been a strange issue that I can't seem to figure out. When the truck is cold, I can't seem to get the gear shifter out of park and into any gear. It just seems stuck. I can pull it back to 'unlock' it or whatever you call it, but it just doesn't want to move. No matter how hard I press the brakes, nothing happens. Once it is warm enough, I can hear it click in the column, allowing the shifter to move throughout the gears. After a few minutes of sitting with the heater on, for whatever reason, it will finally operate normally and then its fine for the rest of the day as long as the truck warms up first. Today, it was stuck 3 times because I only drove 1 minute at a time to each of two destinations. The brake lights operate normally when cold so I don't think it is a brake switch issue. Anyone have any ideas on what to check or what the problem could be? Its seriously bugging me.
