  1. Karnut. Seriously I cant really just put a number on it because of the amount of responce you get in your throttle!!! If you put it on a dyno the peak numbers will or could have up to 25-30 gains but the numbers across the board are a substantial increase because of trq mangnmt. Forgetting about dyno numbers all together you will lose that lazy pedal feeling and if you drive aggressive at all you will se a increase in MPG under a load and aggressive driving. These trucks are like 10.0 rich on AFR when under heavy throttle and into your power enrichment table because they poor the fuel in. So after a good tune that leans it out to like 12.8 or so you will not use as much gas during spirited driving. A good custom tune is by far the best mod for the money IMOP. Seat of the pants feel is unreal. Just imagine a tune in a handheld that works on every truck thats your trucks model being a 50 out of a 100 score tune. Then the custom tune if done correctly is the 100% tune thats only for your truck. If a handheld can be felt with the butt meter then imagine what a custom tune feels like. Crisp shifts, holding gear longer, no more hunting gears, all your power moves to throttle tip in!! Instant power not held back till middle of RPMs then pulled out again before you shift and then walked back in again to do the same on the next shift. Hope that helps. Get on youtube and look at some new camaros before and after tune dyno numbers and watch the trq curves sometimes its possible to see 80ftlbs of trq gain down low in RPMs because of throttle response. Dont look at peak numbers look at whole curves.

  2. After contacting my dealer and explaining my situation, the owners agreed to purchase back my truck for the full purchase price. They displayed complete understanding for my point of view and disappointment. Anyone want to buy a Chevy from a dealer that has been here from 1937 ? They made my problem top priority and solved my problem at their loss without going thru a GM Service Case. I would like to publish the name of the dealership but I do not know if I am allowed but if you ask, I will be glad to reply. DCP

  3. Custom custom custom!!!!! Let a tuner tune it while driving it!! Every truck is different!! Custom custom custom!!! Going back to stock will profit you nothing nowadays. You tune it your gonna get busted. Get a tune done for your truck only not one that will work in 50000 trucks as a flash program. Its worth the extra money and alotta times cheaper than a handheld. If custom isnt an option then .............im truly sorry!! Aint.no tune like your own personal tune!

  5. I have filled up 4 times now in my new 2014 sierra 1500 4x4 with the 4.3 V6. About 50/50 highway/city driving and I'm only averaging 25 MPG. No towing or hauling other than a cross bed tool box. Love the truck but this mileage can't be the norm. What are you guys getting?

  6. The term CAI is very misleading. Most people just take for granted that any aftermarket tube with a cone shaped filter is a CAI when In fact I can show you proof that most actually draw in hotter air than your stock unit does. Most of it has to do with the placement of filter, how well the element is sealed off from the engine compartment and the material that the intake tube and shields are made out of and on top of all that, doing it without compromising the gain in CFM. Most "CAI" kits are actually HAI, Noise makers! If you are flowing hotter air, you ECM will actually pull timing causing a loss in power, so I suggest that you do a lot of research or wait for somebody to do an actual test of CAI kits on a dyno using one of our new trucks as a mule because testing on a Camaro, Vette, or Mustang will tell us nothing. I will probably just build a custom intake tube or buy the MIT kit and possibly mod the stock air box a little. My .02

  7. What does a paper filter getting "caked" have to do with anything? Used in dusty conditions a filter should get caked and covered. If it doesn't, it's letting stuff through! I have seen intakes of vehicles running oiled filters and they are never as clean as an intake downstream of a non oiled filter. There are plenty of quality non oiled filters. You don't see anyone running oiled filters on farm equipment. Big diesels demand far more air than a pickup, and most use paper filters, x2!

  8. The CAI kits do have better flow at the high end of the RPM range. You will see slight HP increase up high. That'll benefit you if you like to race or drag your truck - 99% of buyers don't. The added noise and expense isn't really worth it for most buyers IMHO.

  9. It is too steady of a vibration to be harmonic vibe. I am hoping it is the tires in some way. I heard of something called the "crew cab hop" that was in issue with the 04-06 crew cabs. Basically the wind hitting the body of the truck a certain way causing a shake/vibration. Wondering if that has something to do with it. I will let you know what he service manager comes up with for a repair. Hope the engineers at GM have figured it out.

Service Information 2013 Chevrolet Silverado - 4WD | Cheyenne, Sierra, Silverado VIN C/K Service Manual 3087 | View All Bulletins | Document ID: 3611659 #PI0564D: Wax Coating on Frame Peeling, Metal Shows Corrosion/Rusting - (Sep 5, 2013) Subject: Wax Coating on Frame Peeling, Metal Shows Corrosion/Rusting Models: 2011-2014 Cadillac Escalade Models 2011-2014 Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado (All Series), Suburban, Tahoe 2011-2014 GMC Savana, Sierra (All Series), Yukon, Yukon XLThis PI is being revised to add the 2014 model year, update the Recommendation/Instructions, Parts information and update the Labor Operation to the Global Labor Code (GLC). Please discard PI0564C. Condition/ConcernSome customers may comment that areas of the frame wax coating are peeling off and rust/corrosion is visible on the metal in these areas. Several examples of this condition are shown in each group of graphics below. Truck Example Photos Van Example Photos Recommendation/InstructionsA combination of specialized metal coating products manufactured by Lloyds and Daubert have been found to be the most suitable products to provide corrosion control and protection to address this type of repair. Our recommendation is to prep the metal surface using *Lloyd’s Pure Prep™ Metal Surface Preparation P/N 25418, then topcoat with both *Lloyds Kryptonite Metal Treatment P/N 36502 Life Long Rust Protection and *Daubert Non-Rust® P/N X-121B One Coat Rust Preventative Coating. It is strongly recommended they be applied according to the manufacturer’s procedures. *We believe this source and their products to be reliable. There may be additional manufacturers of such products/materials. General Motors does not endorse, indicate any preference for, or assume any responsibility for the products or material from this firm or for any such items that may be available from other sources. Important: To ensure proper coating performance, all of the manufacturer’s “Applications Guidelines” MUST be followed. Prep the frame and apply the Lloyds and Daubert coatings following the steps below: Important: Any corrosion damage noted to the extent of weakening the component will require component replacement. Important: Lloyds Kryptonite is designed to apply directly onto brown rust or clean surfaces; however any loose flakes/scale of rust need to be removed prior to application. Important: The frame must be dry and free of wax/oily substances prior to application of the new coating. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in SI. If labels are in the area to be reworked, remove any of the visible white labels on the frame (usually one per side). Remove any components as required to gain access to the corroded component or area. Determine a start and finish point on each side for the section/area of the frame to be repaired. Using a rag and wax/grease removing solvent, remove the wax coating and any grease, oil, or undercoating from the truck frame in the affected repair area. The graphic above shows an example of a small portion of the wax coating removed. Any loose rust or loose flakes should be scraped, wire brushed or ground off. Remove any residual wax, oil or rust by wiping the frame down with a towel or Scotch-Brite™ (3M) pad soaked with wax/grease remover. Using Lloyd’s Pure Prep™ Metal Surface Preparation P/N 25418 (10 fluid ounce bottle), or equivalent, saturate a towel or Scotch-Brite™ (3M) pad with the pre-diluted solution and scrub the area well, rendering a foaming of the Pure Prep.™ This will greatly improve adhesion and corrosion resistance in the repair areas. Using a water dampened clean towel, remove any residue and dry the affected area. Dry the repair area completely using an air hose to blow dry the frame. Check the repair area for phosphate treatment by wiping it to see if any corrosion residue can be picked up. Correctly treated areas will not have any residue on the surface. Apply a light flash-coat of Lloyds Kryptonite Metal Treatment P/N 36502 Life Long Rust Protection (14 ounce aerosol), or equivalent, to all rusted and bare areas of the frame where the wax coating was removed. This first coat should flash in approximately 3-5 minutes. Apply a second coat of Lloyds Kryptonite. This can be a heavy coat; double and triple passes with this product, over a light first coat, are not a problem. Note: Dried Lloyds Kryptonite will perform beautifully over time and actually get harder and more durable as it experiences heat. We suggest top coating the Lloyds Kryptonite with Daubert Nox-Rust® P/N X-121B “One Coat Rust Preventative Coating” (aerosol), or equivalent. Note: As shown in the graphic below, besides adding a corrosion resistant layer, it dries to firm, wax-like film which will more closely resemble the appearance of the unrepaired areas of the frame. Lower the vehicle and allow the final coat to dry as recommended by the manufacturer. Parts InformationDealers should obtain 25418 and 36502 by contacting Lloyds by e-mail at [email protected], or by calling 1-800-361-6766. U.S. Dealers can obtain the X-121B topcoat by contacting the Daubert website at www.daubertchemical.com or inside the U.S. only, by calling 1-800-914-0034. Canadian dealers must contact the Daubert distributor in Canada, Corrosion Control Coatings Ltd, by faxing the form below to 519-881-2309. Important: ONLY Canadian Dealers should use this form. 16. UPDATE! Hey Guys, This is a quick update. I took my truck in to get it serviced after I called an made an appointment. I told them over the phone what happened as well as to the service rep on the day of service. I showed them the letter to which they took. I also had my purchase papers along with the warranty papers ready as well. They told me they would scan the vehicle and let me know what it showed. The service rep also surprised me as well by doing a recall check. Mind you I have signed up with the Chevy Owners on GM's website where you can search for recalls and nothing ever came up. The service rep was able to locate a recall on the transmission fluid reservoir tube. Apparently some have cracked. This would be where you would send your transmission fluid and transmission dip stick down. If cracked, they would replace (about 1 hour) and if not, they would place a reinforcing sleeve around the tube. After about 2-3 hours, I did wait as I didn't have anyone available to pick me up, the service rep came to get me from the lounge and stated that the scan did in fact report back a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) error so they were able to replace that and to drive it around and make sure everything was okay. I signed the service report and out the door with NO MONEY spent by me. I was one happy customer. Since then, I fell nor hear any hesitation and no more warning lights are displayed. I have traveled around my town/county and commuted to work and so far so good. We shall see. I hope this post has helped others and make you aware of a recall that I was surprised about. I will let anyone know if something happens in the future with this. Everyone have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year if I don't hear from you until then! Take care and be safe out there!
