  1. Congrats on the tune! I will be doing the same to my truck soon. Life is short enjoy the crap out of your truck. "You can make more money but you can't make more time". Have fun and drive it like you stole it.
  2. After getting a full tank of E85 while traveling I was impressed by the extra kick that it provided. However now that I have returned home and its time to refuel I have come to realize locating E85 can be a difficult proposition on a regular basis. At any rate its time to get a tune in order to have the benefit with regualr fill ups. For all those wanting to chime in about voiding your warranty save your keys strokes. There are several threads asking about tuning but I wanted to have a thread where folks who have tuned a 2014 truck can comment on their trouble free miles. So post which tune you have how many miles you have logged since the improvement. Cheers!
  3. Maybe I've not searched the right places but I can't seem to find anything online where a Silverado/Sierra truck with a street tune has blown their engine or tranny. Not saying that it won't or hasn't happened but I would imagine the odds would be low. Now I'm not talking about guys who have turbos/superchargers or aftermarket cams. Since these engines gain almost 30 HP and 30+ lb ft of torque with E85 I don't see where a custom street tune will stress these engines much. It seems that people are getting roughly 40 more HP with custom tunes with only bolt-ons.
  4. Nice average with the 6.2 What is your driving style? I have gotten up to 24 MPG on a hwy trip but average 17-18 mpg combined with my 5.3 w/3.08 rear end.
  5. Now if a software tuning company can create an AFM disabler that will not show to the dealer unless they physically see it then why not a Torque Management disabler? The market to create such a device that doesn't reflash the PCM and TCM but essentially works only when plugged in would be huge. If hackers can break the codes of super computers and retailers then tricking a Chevrolet PCM without leaving a fingerprint should be a walk in the park. I guess its always a cat and mouse game with a manufacturers and aftermarket.
  6. The power train warranty will be blocked/voided if it goes in for service of internal engine and or transmissions components. If for example the alternator or other engine accessory goes out they may not check the codes and replace the part under warranty. At any rate it's always a risk but then again if you start getting nickeled and dimed in repairs you could trade it and get a new or slightly used one with warranty. My guess is that a tuned truck driven within reason will be ok. The 5.3 gains nearly 30 hp and tq with E85 so I think the drivetrain could handle a tune without issue. Chevy engineers are missing out on extra cash if they offered factory tuning which didn't affect warranty. They could offer stock, mild, and wild as choices.
  7. I like the way your pipes exit the rear on each side. Shop did a great job!
  8. Pace Edwards SwitchBlade. I have a bed rug that will arrive this week and I will install both. I had a Bakflip before on my Tundra and didn't like the fact it blocks the back window if you need the whole bed. Also the lack of security it provides.....as someone mentioned you can take a coat hanger and gain access quickly.
  9. CorvetteOJ can you post a clip of your exhaust I have been trying to decide between the 22 and 18 inch magnaflow muffler. Also was wondering if that shop will reset to oem specs if you need to take it to the dealer? I live about 2 hours from Mooresville so it wouldn't be a bad drive to have a tune done there.
  10. mzodarg you have the setup I would like to install. Did you order your 18 inch magnaflow muffler online or did the local muffler shop have it stocked? Can you post the part number? Also did you see a MPG drop off changing from stock?
  11. How hard was the tailgate mod? Any pics or details you could share? Sounds like a project I would like to tackle in the future.
  12. Thanks Anthony I will give that a try.
  13. Thanks! I do need to get the lights adjusted. Hopefully I can find some instructions online to complete the job. I am a photographer as well and have used this location several times for family and senior portraits. I had the shop install 35% on the front windows just so I could pass inspection with no issues.
  14. Window tint and 2 inch front leveling kit added on Saturday.
  15. LTZ2014 that is a good looking truck!
  16. 5.3 4x4 w/3:08 just completed a 250 mile trip and averaged 23.2mpg all hwy cruising 70-78mph.
  17. Here's mine 2014 LTZ 4x4 5.3
