Yes, concur. HMMWV, MATV, LMTV, are different, but fundementals are not (and not all motor sergeants are the same, but this one is still building/rebuilding boats, cars, and trucks and can troubleshoot like the best of them). The wheels/tires he was talking about are LPO wheels from GM. Mine came with LPO wheels and bridgestones (LPO's are lug centric). That is what the common factor is.
I had mine roadforced at a reputable tire shop where all they do is tires, and they have the best machine in the business of roadforce balancing (Hunter Road Force GSP9700). When you get numbers like 10/12/12/12 then your talking about tires not being round on a microscopic level, the wheels and tires are as round as round can be.
The shake I am getting, and most others, is enough to make the back end of my truck seem as if its going to come off. When looking through my rearview it looks like my snugtop lid is coming off.
To have a shake like what I am experiencing is a whole other issue. You should be able to see the wheel/tires movement if its the culprit. Visual first, next would be answer why the wheel/tire combination is only out of round at a certain speed segment (73-85 for me).....In the case of the Yukon, it could very well be a bad mount/balance, but with a lug centric wheel you would definately be able to see that its not balanced. (No sarcasm added). Mine is going into the shop this coming Tuesday, and they are providing me a 2014 SLT crew cab until they figure out what's going on. Or at least I will get to drive a vehicle that does not shake/vibrate.....hopefully.....
Anyways, my point is that just changing the wheels/tires could exagerate an issue that was earlier hidden. In many cases posted on here, both GM and bystanders are pointing to the easiest thing to point at. Blame the wheel/tire package added. When in fact the wheel tire package came from the same place you got the truck. If the truck is so sensative that just changing the wheel/tire package could screw up your whole vehicle, then why have the option. If the truck is that sensative to change, just wait until it changes 10 degrees outside and your going to have other issues. The list goes on and on, but the reality is that there is something wrong, and roadforce balancing 2 or three times isn't going to change the problem when it's not the easiest thing to blame the issue on. I have sat back on this forum and just read the reply's and not put too much input in. But, yesterday I just had to post a statement because it's just not a good idea to arm-chair quarterback an issue when you don't have all the facts or haven't done the research as to the exact case involved.
BTW, both my friend and I are 21+ year US Army retiree's and would like to say to you....Thanks for your Service!
