  1. transfer case has a different tube, that goes up to the top of the transmission with a small filter cap (goes to the same bracket that other hose for the trans vent goes to).
  2. Finally, someone using flares correctly!
  3. Maybe post pics of the original pump, the bracket and the new pump?
  4. I can't say if allocation between Canada and the US is different, but I doubt it. Are you sure the dealer actually used their allocation back in December, or they finally decided to use one more recently for your truck? And then, even if they did use one of their allocations for your truck awhile ago, if your truck happened to use some options that were under constraint, that would also delay GM picking up the order (which your dealer could have warned/told you about).
  5. thanks for following up and posting that it works.
  6. maybe also check engine hours. and not just engine, but transmission service. And it really depends on price, what you are going to use it for, and how reliable it has to be for that use. That mileage puts it into the range where either the engine or transmission could fail at any time, if they haven't already been rebuilt since the truck was new.
  7. just fyi, you probably won't get a response from that user. they created their account, made the 3 posts in this thread on that same day, and then never returned to the site, just over a year ago...
  8. Yes, the plug has to make the truck think the lights are there, that's how the truck "knows" a trailer is attached. So the plug would need to have some resistors (of the correct size/watts) for the running lights and brake/turn signals.
  9. If that's how your owners manual describes how it works, then I believe some people have put in a trailer plug so it tricks the truck into thinking a trailer is connected (not just the physical plug, but also w some connections [ie, resistors] so the truck senses that trailer lights are there).
  10. what open source project did you find for reading obdii data?
  11. it depends on what's wrong. bad/failing solder joins can make or break connections based on changing temps, and if this happens on the computer data bus the truck uses, that can impact the ability for other computers to communicate. But, it could also just be a coincidence that the front sensors are having problems around when the radio is.
  12. you need to do electrical testing. the wires can break inside the insulation due to flexing. and of course, it's not 100% testable, as you may test it when it's flexed just right and the wires make contact, but when reinstalled, it doesn't make contact...
  13. No, as far as I know, auto parts are handled under the usmca agreement still, and neither the us nor canada has changed the tariffs outside of that agreement.
  14. Chuck is the one living out in the boonies...
  15. You couldd maybe make friends with someone or get a pickup location in a somewhat nearby town/city, and get it shipped there?
  16. For me, the one thing that is hit or miss from RA is the options they select for shipping. They normally mark packages as needing to be signed for AND that the address can't be changed, so they would come out to deliver it, I'm not home because I work during the day, then I need to go online or phone them and tell them I want to pick it up from their depot. Fortunately, more recently I've been able to badger them into allowing me to change it to pick up at a local depot before they try to deliver it, so it's both closer than their main depot and I can pick it up a day earlier.
  17. you must live in the boonies. I have choices of fedex, ups, and dhl. and, depending on the parts, selecting different brands will change what warehouse they come from, so shipping gets consolidated. and don't forget to use their 5% off discount code, it's always available. Edit: and I think sometimes, I've even broken up one order into multiple orders, to get the parts I want to come from fewer warehouses, or if some items are bulky (like tow mirrors), to get smaller items shipped separately rather than in a really big box that costs more.
  18. It just seems to be some distributor ripping Canadians off. I buy a bunch of parts for a variety of small equipment, as well as my trucks, and for some brands, pricing will be roughly the same, adjusting for currency, between retail price in the two countries, but for other brands, but similar parts, it will be 30+% more to buy it in Canada. amazon canada is similar, some stuff is priced about the same, other stuff is just stupid priced. I make a point of planning ahead, to buy stuff in bigger orders out of the states, so shipping is spread out over more parts, but I find it doesn't take many parts for savings to exceed the cost of shipping, generally I find about $100 of parts I'll be ahead.
  19. maybe try wiggling the harness along it's length, w the engine running and while watching it log if you can? For my '12, I believe the harness goes across to the engine, then down under the front of the engine, then back to the ckp sensor.
  20. top story today at 6pm, car salesman misleads customer. this story and more, coming up next.
  21. Dealer probably quoted on uninstalling the frame from the vehicle, replacing the motor mounts, then reinstalling the frame.
  22. what makes you think this is some kind of widespread issue affecting thousand of vehicles, and not just say, yours. Yours is literally the first post I've seen about this "problem".
  23. Yes, just because the manual says to replace it at 150k doesn't mean it can't fail before then. Perhaps some pulley failed, some dirt got into it, or the belt just happened to not be made quite as good as the next one on the assembly line.
  24. a subscription to alldata.com would give you the info you need, how to do the job, what torque various bolts should be at, etc.
  25. maybe check if you are getting spark and compression?
