  1. Used the MrDIY CAN bus reader
  2. Hey everyone, I recently picked up a 2026 Silverado 2500HD, and like most of you with the L5P, I’m obsessed with keeping an eye on my DPF soot levels and regen cycles. I looked at the Banks iDash, but I really didn’t want to clutter up the interior of a brand-new truck with pods and wires if I didn't have to. Since these trucks run on Android Automotive (AAOS), I’ve started developing a native app that runs directly on the head unit. No phone required, no mounting brackets—just a clean digital gauge cluster right on the factory 13.4-inch display. The goal: Full transparency into the engine sensors GM hides from us, displayed in a way that actually looks like it belongs in the truck. I’d love to get some community input before I get too deep into the UI design: The "Must-Haves": Besides Soot % and Regen Status, what are the top 3 PIDs you actually care about? (EGTs, Trans Temp, Density Alt, etc?) The Look: Would you prefer digital "Analog" style gauges, or a clean "OEM-style" data list that matches the factory Chevy dashboard theme? Functionality: For those currently running an iDash, what is the one feature you couldn't live without? I’m still in the early stages of this project, but I’m curious to see how much interest there is for a "software-only" alternative to physical gauges. Let me know what you think! Here is the link to the original post o made in the L5P forum: https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/276111-l5p-android-auto-gauge-app/
  3. So using some other open source obd-ii project i was able to completely get rid of the obdlink mx+ and the intermediate esp32 controller and have a single obd-ii plug that handles all the CAN bus messaging and the BLE communication back to the trucks AAOS system
  4. Here is a better screenshot, ill try to get some video for this soon. The GM AAOS is heavily restricted and i have to find all kinds of work arounds.
  5. @mammut so right now I have it hardcoded to work with the obdlink mx+ so I'm not sure it will work with your obd-ii plug. It also needs an esp32 microcontroller to talk between the obdlink and the truck via Bluetooth. I would really like to build out my own obd plug that does all this in one chip
  6. Hey guys, wanted to just share something that ive been working on for the last couple weeks. I got my 2026 Silverado 2500 with the 6.6L Duramax. I previously came from a 2020 3500 with the 6.6L Gas motor. So far im loving the new truck and the Duramax. I wanted to get the iDash Pro for the truck but with the gauge and the pod, man it was pretty much over $600 after shipping. So instead i decided to try to build my own application that could display similar data on the trucks nice infotainment screen. There is tons more real estate there anyways. So thats what ive done. I bought the OBDLink MX+ to get data off the OBD-II CAN bus. I bought a small ESP32 dev board to interface with the OBDLink, and then i built an Android Auto app that i installed on the truck through a private Google Play release. So far everything is working great. Im still very heavily developing the software so there are lots of things i want to implement, but here is a screenshot of the screen so far. I have configuration screens and some other data that is not in the screenshot but this is the main area. I think im going to redo the way these gauges are shown and put more of the large gauges up instead of the 4 that i have now, with the smaller ones below. Has anyone done anything similar? Sorry for the finger prints all over the screen... ill get some better images later
  7. Ive seen that there is support for the Surround Vision recording in the SUV's but why doesnt it work in the Silverado's? I have the Surround Vision Cameras and basically all the packages you can put on the LTZ truck. I cant find or enable the 'Recorder' anywhere that i can see in the system. I can see the USB thumb drive if i go to the audio selection, and i can play mp3 files from it, BUT if i plug the usb thumb drive in and go to my notifications tab, the system tells me that the drive is not correctly formatted. Ive tried dozens of different ways to format the drive and i always get that error. Ive tried this in ALL usb ports, and bought a new usb-c 3.2 drive and still have the same issue. Anyone else get this to work on the HD trucks?
  8. I have a 2022 3500 and i have brake squeals since i drove it off the lot. Dealer says there is nothing wrong with the brake system... Sounds like im driving a 1982 POS everytime i pull up to a stop sign or drive through window
  9. Why not just clip in a spare/fake clip into the seat belt buckle? https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Seat-Accessories-Most-Vehicles-BeltCLIPs/dp/B0CKXF9TWF/ref=sr_1_13?crid=38GVS43MW1S5B&keywords=seat+belt+alarm+silencer&qid=1697746710&sprefix=seat+belt%2Caps%2C92&sr=8-13
  10. Not sure if its the same but on my 2022 3500HD, on cold start and initial drive i hear a faint buzzing, but to me it sounds like its coming from the drivers side upper dash area. As you said, once im a few hundred yards down the road, the sound goes away an i never hear it again until the next cold start
  11. I have a 2022 LTZ 3500HD 6.6 Gas and i only have power steering whine when i have the steering turning full left or full right. Then i get some annoying whine. Other than that i dont hear it.
  12. I had a similar issue on a 2018 Silverado. I disconnected the truck battery for about 30 seconds and reattached it. That reset the radio for me
  13. 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500HD I just added the GM TPMS sensors to my travel trailer and im trying to pair up the sensors with the truck. I tried last night and the first sensor recognized within about 5 seconds of letting air out. Went to the next tire in the series and let air out for 30 seconds and nothing. Tried that a few times and never would pick up the sensor. It was dark and i decided to try again tomorrow. I aired all the tires up to 65PSI and went inside. This morning i decided to try again. So i started the process over, first tire detected in a few seconds, second tire detected within about 10 seconds(YAY!), moved to third tire and same as last night. I let air out for 30ish seconds with no detection. How long does/can it take to detect the sensor? Im going to end up deflating the tire too much before the sensor detects... Do i need to drive it around before i try to sync up the sensors? Am i in an area with too much interference and that is causing the issues? Anyone else have this issue?
  14. I was told by my dealer, "Hopefully" by end of Q4 2022. Ive heard nothing since taking ownership of the truck in April of this year.
  15. I ordered my 2022 3500HD 6.6 gasser on November 1st 2021 and got it mid April 2022. It was on constant constraint and i had to make package adjustments to get GM to accept it. And with all that i'm still not able to use heated/cooled seats, heated steering wheel or parking sensors because they shipped it without the chips. They will retrofit the chips at a later date...... Irritating
