Hey everyone,

I recently picked up a 2026 Silverado 2500HD, and like most of you with the L5P, I’m obsessed with keeping an eye on my DPF soot levels and regen cycles. I looked at the Banks iDash, but I really didn’t want to clutter up the interior of a brand-new truck with pods and wires if I didn't have to.

Since these trucks run on Android Automotive (AAOS), I’ve started developing a native app that runs directly on the head unit. No phone required, no mounting brackets—just a clean digital gauge cluster right on the factory 13.4-inch display.

The goal: Full transparency into the engine sensors GM hides from us, displayed in a way that actually looks like it belongs in the truck.

I’d love to get some community input before I get too deep into the UI design:

  • The "Must-Haves": Besides Soot % and Regen Status, what are the top 3 PIDs you actually care about? (EGTs, Trans Temp, Density Alt, etc?)

  • The Look: Would you prefer digital "Analog" style gauges, or a clean "OEM-style" data list that matches the factory Chevy dashboard theme?

  • Functionality: For those currently running an iDash, what is the one feature you couldn't live without?

I’m still in the early stages of this project, but I’m curious to see how much interest there is for a "software-only" alternative to physical gauges.

Let me know what you think!

Take a look at what the iDash offers as monitored parameters.  The first one I put on my iDash was current Transmission Gear Number and Torquer Converter Lockup. The next in line were:

2. Fuel Tank Level

3. DEF Tank Level

4. Percent Particulate Filter

5. Engine Coolant Temperature

6. Transmission Oil Temperature

7. Fuel Flow

8. Percent Torque
