  1. the problem is now gone since battery replacement
  2. So ive been battling a few issues here off and on for about 2 years now. Up until recently, I thought they had all been fixed. Here is what has been going on: “Service Forward Camera” typical only happened during rain or when first started engine System was disabled until restart Replaced seat alert motors and issue went away (one was bad) recently randomly came up again System not disabled “Service Trailer Brake System” typical during rain only repetitive, could not clear replaced module and problem went away for about 6 months no signs of water intrusion recently random Could be cleared “Service Anti-Theft system” Failure to remote start Issue only arose during very cold weather Replaced starter and problem went away for about 6 months Failure to key start Recent issue began a couple of months ago “Warning Hood Open” displayed when driver door was open during crank Engine would start up immediately on first retry every time Intermittent power steering failure during slow speed maneuvers typically when making quick back and forth turns to back up Front end shimmy during hard braking I started to think of what could all of these systems have in common. I know electronics can get stupid if supply voltage isn't correct. 1- The issues that had only during the rain were when the wipers and headlights were on 2--Other issues occurred during or right after cold starts of the engine 3-The steering issue is electric assist and only during low engine rpm maneuvers 4-The shimmy in the front end during hard braking - anti lock brake module? I replaced the 4 year old battery and all of these issues have thus far gone away. The truck was built in Oct 2013. The battery that I replaced had a date code on it of May 2016. (original battery replaced after 3 years?) My previous Silverado(2003) would kill the battery every 3 years like clockwork. Maybe this will help somebody out there...…..
  3. I thought that I had solved this problem about 6 months ago by replacing the module above the spare tire. What didn't make sense was the warning typically came on only during the rain. I installed a new battery and this problem along with about 5 other problems have thus far gone away. battery was 4 years old.
  4. close. very close. Battery cables are fine. Installed a new battery and problem went away. Along with about 5 other issues that I was having.
  5. I did this a couple years ago. I had black and wanted chrome. He sent me his in a reusable box. I shipped the black ones back same day that i received the chrome ones
  6. I think it was. Just replaced it
  7. Not sure. I bought the truck CPO from Chevy. 30k miles 3 yrs old. I replaced the battery a couple hours ago.
  8. ill trade my chrome for your black
  9. weird things? like "trailer brake warning" and "service forward camera"?
  10. this has crossed my mind for sure
  11. definitely thought about that, batteries aint cheap for these things.
  12. Boy wouldnt I like to know the answer to this question
  13. Been battling this for a while - thought that I fixed it. Started out that I only had problems when remote starting in the cold whether. The engine would attempt to turn over then stop and the horn and lights would start flashing. Greased the starter bearings thinking that it was dragging causing battery voltage to dip. That fixed the problem through the winter until now. ( ive since replaced the starter - definitely sounds better) Now a couple of times it has happened when starting with the key. One time it did nothing. tried again and it started right up. Another time I tried with the key (had drivers door open) did same but warning on DIC said "hood open". Id say this issues arises about one in very one hundred starts. Battery? Starter? HIM module? HELP PLEASE
  14. Out of the clear blue my steering assist intermittently stops. Only seems to happen when stopping to back up when swinging the wheel over. I saw some info on a recall but I have no outstanding recalls on this truck. Help would be much appreciated. 2014 LTZ Z71 Double Cab with 5.3L.
  15. yes, I got the real stuff for sure thanks.
  16. Job complete! At 55 years old, this just wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. The truck is so high, at 5'9" I was still using a step stool and being bent over most of the time had my back killing me that evening. I bought the condenser, oil, freon and O-rings from NAPA. The condenser was definitely a better product. All welded in the spot where my old one leaked. I had a cheap vacuum pump from Harbor Freight that ran off of my air compressor. I probably spent 30 minutes to get it to 27 inches of vacuum. held it for 30 minutes then added the freon. It took a little over 2 cans. It was 86 degrees outside and the A/C blowing 54 degree air. Took me a total of 3-1/2 hours. $240.00 total spent.
  17. Now it's my turn. 6 years and 69,000 miles. I recharged it Monday afternoon and it wouldn't build pressure on the gauge. Blew coldish air for a while. I had the defroster on full speed the whole way to work Tuesday morning to keep the windshield from fogging up. The leak showed up in the same EXACT spot on the condenser as everybody else. I am going to tackle this job this coming weekend. Anybody that has done this can tell me how much R134a I need to buy?
