2015 YUKON NOISE IN CABIN
yahtzee replied to FOURKNUCKLES's topic in 2015-2020 Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon & Escalade
Good news. Tomorrow, the article from autoguide.com highlighting the buffeting and vibration issues will go live. I have read it and Stephen Elmer did a great job highlighting owner's experiences as well as the lack of attention GM has given to these issues. If nothing else, I am hoping it will get someone's attention at GM who says, "This really could be an issue - let's get a team on it." Stay tuned. -
Definitely doesn't hurt to have more visibility for these issues, thanks. Not sure if you saw the posts or not but I have a 2016 Yukon XL with identical vibration issues. I since started a FB group ( reached out to approx 10 auto rags about pressing GM harder for more eyes on these problems. I actually had one of them write back and pursue it. Now, a story will be dropping tomorrow (Monday, the 14th) highlighting the vibration issues as well as the buffeting issues lots of GM large SUV owners are experiencing. I am 4 months into this ordeal...GM has been little help but my dealer has been fantastic. Thanks for helping with additional exposure!

What else is there comparable, even to the short one? Hate the Infinity, Sequoia is dated, Land Cruiser has crappy 3rd row seat config, X5 is small (had a '13 X5 5.0), hated the GL 430, not even considering a Ford, etc. My dealer has been fantastic so far. I'll be singing their praises once this is finalized. All appears well so far re: the process but it's not over. I believe this is the dealer handling everything on their own. I'm almost 4 months in. They've paid 2 lease payments and the check is approved for the other two. Cautiously optimistic. -

My dealer is replacing my vehicle. I had the XL but wondering if the non-XL will work just as well for my travel needs. Other than length and the 3rd row not being as comfortable are there any other differences? -

I love the GMC Yukon Denali "precision" commercials currently airing. Even my 10 and 13 year old daughters throw out a chuckle at it. -

UPDATE: I spoke to Stephen Elmer, News Editor for Autoguide.com, this morning. They are days away from publishing a piece on our issues. He is now on these forums and has reviewed a lot (not sure if he hit all 98 pages). GM has provided comments back to him basically stating that a PI was issued for the buffeting and that should have fixed it. It obviously hasn't. Regarding the larger vibration issue, dealers are obviously trying all types of things none of which are really working. We are trying to get more attention on this and this is a great start. I've asked him to chime in and ask any specific questions that he can include in his piece. This will hopefully get us closer to a fix. Stephen, please quote this message as a starting point. Thanks. -

I have a call into him to find out more. Hope so. -
A while ago I started chasing down editors/writers at top auto rags and publications to try and get some traction on these issues. I also created a Facebook group as an alternative source for information. It finally looks like at least one automobile publication is going to be writing a story about these issues. I just got word that the news editor for a auto rag (can't say just yet) is "finalizing his story on the SUV issues" and asked for more information. I hope this is the bump we need to get GM to get off of their ass and do something. I will keep you all posted. FYI, I have a 2016 Yukon XL Denali with buffeting issues but also with the terrible vibration issues that you guys are experiencing as well.

Back at dealer today. GM engineer there to dive into my truck. Service manager said if they can't fix it this week they will be replacing my truck. Just hope there are SOME out there without issues. -
I have a 2016 Yukon XL Denali with the issue. I've started a Facebook group as well as reached out to 10+ automobile rags/publications with very little response.

No. They also balanced my drive shaft. :-) Nothing that I am aware of. They have been focused on the vibration issues. -

After picking my truck up from the dealer on Friday the buffeting seems to have literally gone away. It has been there for a month (for the second time since I brought it home on 9/15/15). The vibrations had gotten so annoying from 70-80 that their GM After Sales rep brought in a GM Field Engineer to check out. The first time it was in they replaced two of my tires. This past time they replaced 3 of the 4 tires. What's funny is that the truck has been sitting on their lot for the bulk of it's life....just find it funny that tires got replaced again. The GM guy came by Friday. I told them if it was going to sit another week or so that I wanted it since I was traveling for Thanksgiving. Taking it back after Thanksgiving for them to try to get it knocked out. Honestly, the vibration is still there but nowhere near as bad. I think we are going in circles at this point but something has definitely changed with it. It drives like the truck I thought I was buying. If the 74-77mph vibration would go away I would be a happy camper. -

There's no recall because there is no fix. -
I would not be surprised if they hit the used lot. They definitely aren't taken somewhere and destroyed.

Dropped my XL Denali back at dealer today. Before I left I drove another Yukon Denali (non-XL). Same identical issues. I was given a 2016 Tahoe for my loaner and (shocking, I know) but it has same issues as well. They are going to try some 20" wheels on it but neither of us are convinced that will change much. Also putting them in touch with Frank's dealer about the roof bows and Dynamite. I am closing in on just handing it back to dealer and moving away from GM, unfortunately. I really like the truck but this is not what any of us signed up for. I have no clue what I will be going for but I guess it's time to start searching again. -

I had an loaner the first time my truck was in the shop (SLE about as base as you could get) and the buffeting issues were worse in that than they are in my '16 XL Denali w/22" wheels. -

I picked up my '16 XL Denali after another 2 weeks in the shop. It appears that the vibration issue was resolved by them calibrating/balancing the driveshaft. It is noticeably different. The buffeting issue still remains and I am dropping it back off tomorrow for them to pick back up on that. I literally just wanted the truck to drive since I have only had it in my possession less than half the time I've had it (leased 9/15/15). -

I did that to prevent it being pounded with spam and to keep my entire friend feed from seeing me post on this. There isn't really a login process - you click a button and then i let you in. -

My XL Denali has been in the shop since last Thursday, a week ago, for the vibration issues. This is the 3rd time it's been in the shop since I took delivery on 9/15/15. Went through the road force balancing dance and had two tires replaced. Fixed the vibration - temporarily. This past service visit has been frustrating as they didn't even drive the truck for the first 7 days it was there (I put an obd GPS device in it). They drove it Friday and initially said they didn't feel it. An hour later they claim to "have narrowed it down to the driveline." He said they were going to put a picoscope on it and see what that shows. Rhetorically, I asked him what the picoscope measured. He paused, put me on hold and clearly asked someone and came back on to tell me that it's a tool to measure vibration. Serious question - should a service manager know what a picoscope is? He also told me that the smaller non-XL's were less prone to the vibration and buffeting and they'd entertain moving me to one of those if my truck can't be fixed. I'd actually consider that but only if I know for a fact that it doesn't have either issue. Are there ANY trucks that DONT have these issues? Is it possible to get a truck that is as expected. -
Go ahead and chime in....You can be the first. Let's get as much chatter going as we can.

It was initially out of selfish reasons :-). I broadened it out quite a bit after realizing how many folks were impacted across the various platforms. Come on in.

Absolutely. I also updated the group name to include MY 2014.
