  1. After waiting several years to finally go and get my new 2015 Silverado, I noticed a shimmy at 65-75 MPH...I logged on to this forum against my better judgement and listened to a list of symptoms and solutions to F#*&^ing ridiculous claims...I have to agree with ChevyTech77...this f*&^%ing forum had me totally convinced my truck was junk until I went to the dealer and demanded they balance my tires for the second time. That was 8000 miles ago and I travel 85 miles a day to work and it's as smooth as glass...2015 Silverado 4Dr 4x4 LT with 18inch tires. My advice: go to a mechanic or dealer that listens and stop using these sites...I had stomach pains a few years back and went on WebMD and was convinced I had ovarian cancer...and I'm a guy !!!...GO TO A MECHANIC (or DOCTOR and stop self treating or diagnosing)...GOOD LUCK all and CHEVY Trucks are the best
  2. 2015 Silverado 1500 LT 4x4 double cab 1500 miles: Ok Folks, I went back to my dealer for the 4th time and after repeatedly being told it's normal and "yes, of course we checked the balancing" This time I said the vibration issue is on the morning news and you need to show me these tires are balanced or that you even checked...Well while I stood there they pulled all 4 wheels and they were so far out of balance it seems like someone just threw weights on any part of the rim. Rebalanced all 4 tires the truck now sails along at 80MPH like it was a riding on glass...can it really be that simple??? I have a feeling dropping your car off for a vibration they know is a bitch to find they just pull the "That's Normal" standard answer hoping you'll go away. If it was the driveshaft and the rear it wouldn't go away...some people posted they have to balance their tires monthly to keep vibration form returning...how about having the mechanic clean the dirt off your rim before he sticks on the weights (glued not hammered on anymore) quite possible they fall off...mine were missing a few. Hope this helps and remember not all those guys working on your car are master mechanics....Start a thread to endorse and promote more trade schools in America...not sure if it's lack of skill or just damn laziness but we need Plumbers, carpenters, electricians and better damn mechanics who maybe care about their careers and go the extra step to eliminate 4-5 trips for simple 30 mins of work !!! That's my rant...sorry folks and good luck with your trucks.
  3. That will be my next purchase...but it's a DAMN shame you have to spend 45-50k for a new truck so YOU can fix it...total BS
  4. GM just admitted to a vibration /shake problem on all full size SUVs (I assume Silverado too)...GM has engineers working on it and it's not an easy fix (quoted) they also think it may be the body mounts are too stiff due to using stiffer mounts to prevent roll overs...BUT I just ran to the dealer this morning after seeing this on the news (google Fox News half way down is GM SUV spot). After my 3rd trip to dealer after being told it was normal for a 2015 to shake they balanced my tires (which they said was done the other 2 times) THIS TIME I WATCHED...they were totally out of balance ALL 4...could it be this simple???...maybe not I will let you all know once I hit the 60-70 MPH range on the road I originally had the issue...(Monday morning commute, will post results Monday night 1-4-2016) If this works and I know for sure it's the tires...I'm throwing out these Bridgestones and getting a different set and going the Bilstein 5100 shock replacements.
  5. Dropped the PSI down to 32 all around...going to work the vibration was only at 72-74mph...not at 65-70. Unfortunately going home the same thing now at 68-74mph. The truck rides beautiful up to 60mph...what a hunk of expensive crap, I really don't have the time to hang out in the dealer having them tell me it's normal...I build motors and do classic car restorations...I know frigging normal...and this ain't it.
  6. I need to try this...mine were at 40psi from dealer...just dropped it to 32psi and now looking forward to my drive to work in the morning. I'll let you know !
  7. I see some of the post dates here back to 2013...hope I'm not too late. I have a 2015 Silverado LT Double Cab 4x4 for about a month...just started driving on the highway and notice a vibration at 60-75 mph. Brought back to the dealer and they tested it to 55mph and said it's a truck and some vibration is normal. Then the truck locked into 4 wheel drive and I brought it back to have the transfer case module re-programmed (that corrected the issue with the 4wd). They also said it's possible the truck was in 4wd and that can cause vibration at highway speeds...I have owned 22 Suburbans, yukons, sierras, silverados and trailblazers since 1994...I never had a vibration issue like this before even in 4wd. I was on the highway doing 65 and hit a slight bump and the truck went into a vibration/shimmy that I had to slow to 50mph real quick to stop the shake... I brought the truck back and they had the service manager and their A truck mechanic drive it and said it's normal operation...For a 45K dollar truck...I'm very disappointed to say the least. I've been a GM customer since I'm driving and never had this problem or lack of skilled mechanics look at any of my vehicles and respond with a shrug....amazing. I'm totally lost now...I have no confidence in the mechanics and don't have time to live in the service department. Hope this forum helps find a solution to this.
