    Mine aren't standard anymore. Mine was an ultimate that came with the chrome inserts. I tore the wheels down and painted them a darker charcoal and blacked the inserts. I'll have to take a pic when it's clean.

    Painting the inner would be a pita no question. If I were to do the inner I would have it blasted just enough to ruff up the chrome for good adhesion, then run a red scotch brite over everthing, and go directly to spraying. Multistage wet on wet process. Etch prime, black sealer, color, and then clear with flex additive to help with rock chips.

    I bought a textured skid plate (no down time with truck apart) and smoothed it then primed and painted it. Easy for me (body man) and materials are available. Gets alot of looks and it's different from all the others.

    Here is mine. Didn't want to blast the chrome or plastidip it so left the chrome.

    I was going to paint them and then decided that was alot of work that I didn't want to do. They have some scratches (son's metal cleats) but have help up well.

    I had mine wrapped. Way easier than paint and if they get chipped up just get them rewraped.
