  1. The L8T is classic GM malaise wrapped around a package that could decimate the competition. Always sub par in stock form. Always a world beater with the proper hands modding it. Look no further than GMs own L8P crate engine with a itty bitty baby cam and some 91 octane That's a 30.4% increase in horsepower and 17% increase in torque from barely opening the valves a touch more/longer and taking the brakes off the tune. The reality is the L8T is designed solely for fleet reliability and fuel mileage, just like the previous 6.0 was. Add in terrible throttle response and a lack luster safe overly rich classic GM tune, and this truck is a dog. Tuning is probably my next big spend. Just a throttle modifier makes this thing feel like a different engine.
  2. The issue isn't the surface area of the stock cooler, its the lack of airflow. It could be the size of the whole radiator but no air = no thermal transfer. A proper aux cooler with a fan like I posted would work great, but custom mounting is a challenge.
  3. If you have a larger budget, Fox 2.5 HTOs were designed for HD trucks. Mix of control and soft ride. Large diameter and extra cooling capacity to tame the super fast suspension movements of a torsion bar front. For lower budget the Bilstein 5100s are super stiff and will take out the body roll and could help the porpoising as they are digressive and in my experience not soft. Unloaded ride takes a hit though. Bilstein 4600 might be best overall if just a highway tow pig. With camper bars up front though don't expect a half ton ride from anything though. Even with the HTOs, 4800# bars, more travel from the ZR2 lift, and 37s @ 45psi my truck still rides like a covered wagon.
  4. No. ZR2 1.5" lift with 37" tires.
  5. I opened the door and saw the 4400# FAWR. Was a contractor truck. I work for a muni so that's how I'm exposed to so many fleet style trucks. Just have to get lucky!
  6. So far I've tracked down (3) gas 2wd work trucks and (2) of them were crew cabs with the same bars as me. The first one I found that actually had the 4400# bars I didn't have my damn caliper! Somebody is going to find me in a parking lot under their truck measuring and thinking I'm chopping off their catalytic converter!
  7. Fox 2.5 HTO that replaced Bilstein 5100 (1.8"). Big difference at speed. Even low speed the bumps are still there, but all the jolts are gone. Cruise right over speed bumps. Not quite my buddies Ram HD on coils & King remotes, but for my sled I'm happy. Should get even better as they break in. Yes, per Fox, they are installed body up, shaft down. Bilstein 5100 can bite my rear. Pure stiff trash like the stock Ranchos. Should have known from the price but the Internet sure does love them for some reason. @GMCnewbie turned me on to these. I think they came out this year and are marketed primarily for HD trucks and heavy Wrangler/Glads with heavy tires. I saw a Shock Surplus video where the tech said the GM twins with the very quick reacting torsion bars torture 2.0" and under shocks, even with reservoirs. Looking forward to bombing around on these a bit.
  8. You'll notice that the fronts are body up too compared to Rancho or Bilstein.
  9. Barra is a Whitmer loving globalist through and through. Regardless of what the fuzz says she can relax, standards wise, she will not. Stockholders $$$ is top concern, yes, but right up there with it would be adherence to the dogma. Expect more Turd-bo Max 2.7 full sizes and dynamic cylinders out the wazoo.

  11. I had an Atomic Cool on my GTO. Low amp draw. Restrained a 4,500 stall in the same temperature environment. Custom mounting will be the challenge. I'll have to fabricate something and sandwich it between the grille and condenser.
  12. I'm going to try the Fox way. I'll report in if something weird happens. Apparently, their reasoning is the steel shaft being more exposed at the bottom has less chance of a damaging impact that could cause a seal leak compared to the aluminum body. This is probably more for off-road trucks than hiway trucks, but that's their game.
  13. Which way did you mount your rears? Everything I'm reading says Fox prefers body on top, shaft down. I just got my HTOs in and I'm ready to put them on. I bought the 1.5-2.5" lift variety due to the ZR2 mods.
  14. I've been considering putting an aftermarket stacked plate/fan cooler on the truck. In Arizona often 110+ ambient temps, my truck has been hitting 216°F idling in the school pickup line with no air moving. My 22 has the 158°F thermostat. However, bypassing it will not solve the high temp from stand still issue. Instead of tapping the factory lines and introducing a leak risk I'm considering deleting the radiator/stock tube/fin cooler and doing braided -AN lines direct to the cooler and back like I had on my GTO. I wonder what the BTU/Hr removal rate of the stock cooler is. If anything, going through the radiator especially at rest is acting more like a trans heater than a cooler. I should probably leave the trans thermo in though so the fluid doesn't run too cold when it's 45°f ambient out and not 110+. The aux cooler fan thermo would be 180°F on. Little disappointed in the stock setup that it can't handle 15 mins of idling without going to towing heavy up a hill temps. Blame the clutch fan at idle I suppose.
  15. If you want something more robust than the weenie hut Jr Z-71 tcase skid that's still affordable, check out the ZR2 skid. Details are buried in the ZR2 threads in this section.
  16. Download the instructions from their site and crawl under your truck and verify you have the mounting holes. Instructions say "2019-2022 may need drilled" or something like that. Not confidence inspiring since the T1 HD wasn't out in 2019 and if you've visited my AEV diff thread, I've experienced some finite detail slop from them before.
  17. GM doesn't make the axles anymore (dunno if the previous were) but they are AAM units. They both do have flexible rubbery magnet strips inside the diff covers. I re-used both gaskets and they are akin to the transmission gasket material. Designed to be reusable. Concerning torque, I've never bothered or trusted torquing anything under say 75lb/ft or in this case that small when not dealing with something as critical as a rocker stud in an engine or something. I've held a wrench for almost 30 years and just put what I consider reasonable tightness for the application on.
  18. Storage became available with the 2019 T1 trucks. Prior to that, LT trim would at least get matching door trim and a drop down armrest, lights in the vanity mirrors...etc. GM put a full WT trim (minus vinyl) in the rear of T1 LT trucks with anything under than Convenience Package II. Rocker sills, door panels (no stitching, no "wood" inserts), no armrest in the seat...etc. Might not be the case now but was with the early T1s including my 2022 LT Convenience Package I 2500 HD.
  19. You can override it on my LT with auto by manually upping the fan speed. Your wife will love the "WHOOOOOOOOSH" coming over the microphone when you talk to her. Women absolutely love loud background noise/sound on phone calls. Ask any blue collar guy who gets a phone call at work on an ear bud.
  20. I ended up picking up the whole rear seat for $200. New seat out of a truck getting coverted to K9 unit. The catch is it's the light tan color. With the P/Ns newdude provided (thank you) I ordered what I need to swap it. Cover, both doors, armrest, and the panel behind armrest are all color specific. Maybe one day I'll do the door panels and get the stich and trim they should have had. Still disgusted with GM that they would cheap out that bad and decontent the LT with a LT front and WT rear trim combo. For those looking to find matching interior parts for your 2019-2022 LT or 2020-2023 HD, look up stuff for a 2021 1500 RST.
  21. I found a set on FB that looks promising but seller has them listed as "quad cab" . Got me to searching and none of the P/N up there work with Double Cab. Do the double cabs not have the storage seat back/arm rest option even in the fanciest trim? I can't find any pictures on the Internet with them and the highest trim for build at Chevrolet main site is RST and doesn't have them with all the boxes checked.
  22. Strength. Looks. Company rep (hence the aforementioned disappointment). Nodular iron isn't the best for heat control, but I primarily haul family and sail boat fuel. I'm more likely to take the truck overlanding one day than tow 14,500 across the USA. Was going to do all PML covers at one point, but they just look so basic. Also aluminum doesn't really fit the rugged theme of my overall build. If PML ever comes out with their front cover with drain plug I might do that one since it's shielded by a skid (ironically aluminum because ZR2 ). Taking that cover off to drain was a PITA. Drain plug would be nice.
  23. Although the website says it comes with a magnetic drain plug, it does not. It also says it reuses the "stock magnetic fill plug", which it isn't (magnetic). The instructions online and with it are strictly for 19+ Ram. They didn't bother to edit them for the GM twins. Maybe this is why they think stock is mag fill. Either way their crappy drain is not mag as advertised. Skipped their crappy powdercoat slag filled hex drain and installed magnetic IP-03X Gold Plug that I had bought for the transfer case (and painted it so it wouldn't shine against the hammertone grey). Other than that, nice cover, looks great, heavy duty but overall 3/5 on execution for the things mentioned. Especially because they are well known for OEM fit/finish and the integrations with GM at grand scale and especially because this cover isn't cheap and is at the top end of the competition. Cover was heavier than ****** to lift up there under the truck. Had to use a floor jack to assist. Thing is iron and ROBUST. Large fill port up top is nice especially because I have a 37" spare and room is tight. Still clears though. Took about 4.5 qts to fill (75-90 FM). The flex pack gear oil is a must. P.S., F-you to AAM or GM or whatever dumbass thought it was cute to put red thread locker on each of the 14 f-ing bolts (& the 12 up front). A speed ratchet would be nice here. Cheers.
  24. What about someone buying an OBD pass through/GM MDI and buying the 3 day subscription to AC Delco TDS? Spendy? Yes. But could be an option? Dunno.
  25. I need to Zelle you some beer money for all the times you've chimed in and helped with these parts lists. I appreciate your time that you put in to these requests.
