  1. Someone tapping a ballpoint pen against the fender?
  2. Its strange how spark plugs can sometimes make no difference at all, and other times its all the difference in the world. Every motor and every situation is different I suppose.
  3. Lots if good info. I cant use any of it to help you, but someone else might be able to. All I can suggest is that you check any wiring connections that might have been disconnected during the repair. Battery connections, encoder motor connections, grounds, sensors, etc.
  4. See thins link: https://giphy.com/gifs/SkyTV-christmas-drinking-bad-santa-mXa95una2975hVoM0X Ya, you too buddy.
  5. I'm not sure where your headed. I appreciate your interest in my comment about water in the intake, but I do not see the direction that you are going? Are you mocking the person that used water pipes to make a super ghetto cold air intake? Are you saying that GMC should patent sewer pipes? Get me up to speed man. What are we taking about?
  6. I hear ya. Those are Google pics, by the way. If I did build one though, I would probably design it to have a "water drain" with something similar to the float that a shop vac has. I would also point the intake backwards, despite any possible low pressure zones that might be created at high speed.
  7. I appreciate your efforts in finding a solution. I Googled it a week ago, and was not able to find the solution. Can you provide very specific instructions and more pictures please?
  8. I have a bunch of "class action" checks on my wall next to my computer. Lets see.... Bank $0.07 Bank $4.07 Some company I have never heard of $0.01 Bank $2.77 And so on. I don't want to take them all down to go through them to see the rest of the amounts, but they are all less than $10.00 each. I never bother to cash them. They are worth more as wallpaper.
  9. The current vehicle that I'm working on is a 2008 Chevy Suburban. I don't think moving the fuse is an option on my rigm but it might be. What do your sources indicate?
  10. If your headed to the dealership then it will be extremely expensive and may not even fix the problem. Before you do that, try "Motor Medic". It takes 5 minutes and might solve the problem. I solved a LOUD lifter tick and a low oil pressure issue with this stuff that costs...... $5. I would flush the motor, and change the oil filter brand, and oil weight to something a little heavier. (check manual for options) I recommend not flushing the motor unless there is a need, and I recommend not changing the oil weight, unless there is a need.
  11. I have installed them on every rig I have owned for the last.... 30+ years. I install them on other people's rigs too. It really depends on your personal preference and the amount of time you want to spend installing it. All you have to do, is make it very convenient and easy for you to operate, and "not obvious" to the car thief. Basically you "break" the truck. So even with the keys it wont start. As long as the thief doesn't find the kill switch, then they would need to use a tow truck to steal the rig. Disguise it as an OEM fog light switch, or a switch under the seat. You can put them under the sun visor mirror cover, or in the glove box. Next to the seat, under the dash, or it can be done with a remote control using a relay. You can tap into the fuel pump, ECU, starter, etc. The most famous bank robbery in Hollywood was foiled by a hidden fuel pump kill switch on some old crappy pickup truck. One of the robbers tried to car-jack a truck during the escape. The driver said no problem, take it - and he flipped the fuel pump kill switch off on his way out of the rig. That robber got caught. After suffering a leg injury from police gunshots, the other guy blew his own brains out with a 9mm before capture.
  12. Out of curiosity, how much money do you have into replacing all of these parts that did not fix the problem? Checking the codes: Free. Diagnostic $150. Throwing parts at it: $3,414.97. If you need to save money, pull the thermostat out and drive it. If you want to spend money, replace the engine, all the computers, and everything else you can find under the hood.
  13. Just get José to weld that puppy on there for ya.
  14. Are you sure the remote start is non functional? Mine would not work because of a check engine light. So I fixed that, and it still would not remote start. Turns out that I needed to read the owners manual. I did not know that I had to press the door lock button first, and then hold the remote start button to get it to .... remote start.
  15. Put all 4 corners up on jack stands, roll the windows down, and put in 4x4. Fire it up, and see if eliminating the tire sound eliminates the mystery sound. If the sound is still there, then walk around the truck and see which corner its coming from.
  16. I had the exact same symptoms. Sometimes white smoke sometimes not. Sometimes blue smoke. #7 intake lifter collapse. Pulled the valve cover to confirm. Tried the "unstick" trick on the lifter, but no luck. (hammering on the lifter through the oil port under the valley cover). Pulled the head. $43 for the lifter. $60 in gaskets. $12 new coolant. $100 AFM disbaler. Maybe 4 hours labor, maybe 6 including cleaning of parts, drinking beers, etc. It sucks to have to do it, but I would not mind doing again if I needed to. I only pulled one head, but aside from that - this is about how far I have been into my motor, if you are including the O-ring on the pickup tube repair that I did.
  17. Those 6.6 diesels can be a nightmare. I personally do not work on them, due to the high level of failure and difficulty in troubleshooting. I know a guy that has one. I did replace a starter for him, but beyond that I wont touch it. He bought the truck, and so far he has not been able to drive it more than a few hundred miles. He has replaced both heads twice, along with a TON of other stuff. He has over $1,000 into towing bills alone, just getting the thing home time and time again. Several different mechanics and several different repair shops worked on it. It just sits in his driveway collecting dust. He kept saying that he has too much money into it to stop now, but apparently that logic did not work out well in the end. He has spent over $25,000 in repairs alone, and it still doesn't run reliably at all. That does not include the cost of buying the truck.
  18. Some dude on here is looking for a stereo. Just search " head unit " to find the post.
  19. It looks like the fluid is being burned. If you are just draining the pan, then you would need to: Drain, Refill, Drive. Drain, Refill, Drive. Drain, Refill, Drive. After 3 times you would probably have 60% new fluid. The fluid condition indicates that your transmission may not be performing correctly, and the imminent failure is possible. Maybe the bad fluid is causing the problems, but probably not. Its worth a try though, replacing the fluid. Drain plug trans pan would be worth installing, to save time.
  20. Is that your transmission fluid? Or the creature that killed Tasha Yar on Star Trek The Next Generation?
  21. It depends. You you looking for "looks" or "performance" Neither answer is correct, and neither answer is incorrect. What is your goal? That will effect any recommendations.
  22. There is more than one way to put a truck in a garage. If it wont fit, make it fit !!
