Do you have the GMC app on your phone? You can access the vehicle status, and at the bottom is "vehicle updates" and "view install history". Clicking on each update will give a short description, but only sometimes will that description actually explain what the update was supposed to do.

You can add power folding aftermarket tow mirrors from Boost Auto. Unsure of regular mirrors though.

I could be wrong, but I’m not sure you can adapt that camera to the rear view mirror. It’s a different connector, unless that camera comes out easily. And you can mount the other one in it’s place.

You usually need to add wiring to bring new features to the mirror, that were not present on your truck from the factory, like turn signals or spot lights. Not sure how you go about it with your brand of mirror though. Boost Auto sends full kits with wiring harness' and instructions.

Changing the led bulb to strips was a great idea. I ended up trading in my 2017 Silverado that I did this to, and getting a 2023 Sierra. Which I added the rear camera mirror to as well, but it was all basically plug and play, much easier.

Thanks, but this info does not apply to 2022 and up, refreshed trucks. The new 13" widescreen infotainment somehow has fewer apps that the last trucks did.

I have 3 years free onstar (unlimited data, crash assistance, and the new google maps) with the new truck, and no weather app!

Had/have this in a 2017 Camaro 8 speed, and its showing up now in a 2023 GMC Sierra 8 speed. Not much the dealer will really due, there was a TSB for the Camaro years ago, flush and fill trans fluid, but it can and does come back. It is always on the first start and drive of the day, you need to really have a light foot to get rid of most of it.

I knew it was a stock photo, but why would GM show us something we can’t have.

I’ve got the same whine, 2023 Sierra. I’m not terribly bothered by it, but it’s annoying to think that GM doesn’t really know how to get rid of it, or doesn’t care to. Here’s hoping it doesn’t become an actual problem with the engine.

Partially finished installing the rear view camera mirror in my 2023 Elevation with a plain non dimming mirror. I used the gen5diy radar harness, ordered with extra power leads. It uses what I think is the factory rain sensor, behind the mirror, to connect in between and give power and ground. Mirror works, and tested with the camera in the new 3rd brake light. Just need to run the video cable and swap the 3rd brake light out. Am I the only one wondering how I get the weather app on my screen? I saw the pic OP used and checked my radio for a weather app, but there wasn't one I could find?

Can you be more specific as to how it worked out? I added the mirror to my 2017, by wiretapping power and ground, but how exactly did you go about powering, and getting dimming feature, ect..?
