  1. 2 ago week while I was at work my wife sent me a pic of the driver side rear window shattered. I asked if there was a rock or any other object in the bed(from snow removal) that would have caused the window to shatter, nothing was found. I had the recall work done in Jan. of 2020 but the tech notes just state connection was cleaned and checked for excess heat, that was all. I attempted to call the service department and left a voicemail but still no call back. Insurance has replaced the window and I asked the glass shop if there was an indication that the rear defroster was the issue. Just hoping in a few years I do not have to return to the glass shop for another rear window. Has anyone else in the colder regions have their rear window shatter after the recall work was done? My truck is a 2018 crew cab, 16,******, and the week the issue happened was -20F.
  2. check the wires in the rubber boot, some could be broken.
  3. Did you figure it out? It's been a while but they used to tape back a pigtail with an eyelet to the main factory harness long enough to connect to the fuse block. Maybe that's what you need to do. That pig tail is for trailer power and sometimes there would be a maxi fuse to install too. That fuse would be taped to the trailer brake harness. I am not sure if they still do that, as my 2018 everything was already connected.
  4. You want to power a factory sub with and aftermarket amp? Why not just bypass everything instead of cutting in to the factory harness? They make decent all in one amp/sub combos that fit under seats. As for connecting the door speakers the the radio directly, that's pretty common practice but the pillar tweeters are filtered through the Bose amp. That integration module is decent, only issues I had before was they would pick up engine noise and you would get a wine in the speakers(I think is was the Axxess brand). My recommendation would be use the module and keep the Bose amp for the door speakers and unplug factory amp and get and aftermarket amp/sub of you liking. Second option would be bypass Bose all together and run wires to speakers and connect to aftermarket amp or your radio.
  5. used these for alarm triggers for hood intrusion, https://www.amazon.com/Directed-Electronics-8623-Bearing-Switch/dp/B000I1GR8K could use to trigger light switch
  6. Check the door boots, common for the wires to break in the door boots. I repaired my brothers 07, 6 broken wires in the boots and fixed his issues.
  7. When I had my 08, I just unplugged my Bose sub and connected the line out converter for my amp at the plug. When truck got totaled, simply removed converter and plugged factory sub back in. Even after I upgraded the radio I left it that way, I was too lazy to run the RCAs to the radio, it sounded good even though I was being lazy to run the wires to the radio.
  8. Check the wiring in the door boots, my brothers 07 classic had 4 broken wires in the door boots. Fixed his power window issue.
  9. Katzkin is a brand I worked with before. I thought the end product was great. With the addition of adding heated seats was common here in AK. Install was just the same as factory, no custom modifications needed. https://katzkin.com
  10. I see my Yukon every day..... drove off the lot in Oct. Only seen 2-3 other Yukons driving around up here in AK. Noticed by their dealer plates. Don't believe I seen any Tahoes yet. Last week got a check in the mail, didn't know we had a price lock guarantee from the dealer, that was a surprise.
  11. Check the battery brackets on the remote fob circuit board. Solder connections could be broken from circuit board, reheat and dap fresh solder. Repaired many of these and remote start fobs with same issues.
  12. There is a constant 12v and switched you can use if available at the trailer wire plug at the junction box next to kick panel which I have used many times. Granted the owners didn't have a trailer brake controller installed
  13. it is possible, without cutting wires? no. You need to find the resistor measurement from you key cylinder when the key is turned, you said you watched a few videos. Find the resistor reading and install a resistor with the same reading (within 10%) and bypass the wires from the key cylinder for a permanent bypass. I have done it a few times for family while installing remote starters.
  14. Friday evening we drove home our new Yukon Denali after waiting 4 months. Just a few back and forth about options not available, being the super cruise option which only feature we liked was the rearview mirror can swap to rear camera view to remove passengers from mirror and then towing package which reduced the capacity 500 lbs. Being in AK, super cruise not a big feature for us, and don't have anything heavy to tow. Upgraded from a 08 Yukon Denali that I took care of the best I could, had 91,108 on the odometer when the in-laws drove it away last night. Gotta get used to the engine shut off at idle, its like perfect timing when hitting the gas right when the engine cranks over it gets pretty jerky. Im not too impressed with the center dash radio/app/controls/screen yet cause realizing its just an extension of your cell phone. I Find myself still changing music stations from my phone or watch cause it just seems faster. But these features are still new to me and I'm sure over time I'll have new apps and features downloaded on my phone just for the truck(which is still crazy to me). I used to install accessories on vehicles for work, can't wait to start digging into this after the newness fades and warranty is done.
  15. good to hear. ill log that ground location into common issues for that year
  16. paper cone factory speaker and an 09 must have been its time. do you have the factory Bose amp? either way best bet would remove door panel and check speaker.do you have a multimeter? if you feel more comfortable removing the radio and checking wires behind the radio over removing the door panel you could go that route also. but if the speakers are blown might as well remove door panels.
  17. check for a broken wire/wires in door boot.
  18. You will need an integration module. Switched power, Bose amp(if equipped), steering wheel controls are "data communication" not simple power ground connections.
  19. possible ignition switch issue? common issue
  20. seems like the wrong wiring kit was purchased. that one you said seems to work for the newer 2007+ gm vehicles. if you are wanting to retain the bose amp this should work. or a complete rewire will ensure you have sound with the aftermarket radio. stating you do not have onstar doesn't really matter since the bose amp is in the vehicle. most of the integration kits will include onstar retention paired with the bose sound integration. https://www.amazon.com/Metra-GMOS-OnStar-Interface-Systems/dp/B000980HC4/ref=pd_sbs_3?pd_rd_w=9txbm&pf_rd_p=98101395-b70f-4a52-af63-8fac2c513e02&pf_rd_r=0Y6W4XGX3CNQNB0K2BGZ&pd_rd_r=1f362489-dbd2-481e-a37e-2dd1d55b2dcb&pd_rd_wg=RqF7q&pd_rd_i=B000980HC4&psc=1
  21. good to hear! the red wire should be a constant 12v. if you track it down to where they connected it, and most likely used a t-tap style connector. and, yes please ensure you have a good connection with you yellow wires since that is your starter wire. if you do not feel comfortable soldering, a "western union splice" will hold up for a while . i don't know how to add a pic so here is a link for the splice type. https://www.sn95forums.com/threads/the-ultimate-electrical-splicing-post.70366/
  22. oh that is a aftermarket security, if you remove the black half circle it breaks the starter wire. simple security for used car sales. I pulled them out all the time when installing remote starts. the small yellow factory wire is your starter wire. remove everything and make a good connection when reconnecting the yellow wires back together.
  23. acc. switched and amp turn on is all low voltage data controlled. please follow sharpz recommendation and look for a interface module save you the headache. Or just bypass the amp and rerun all new wires then you know you connected the correct wires.
  24. Only thing I can think of would be the video quality at that length, might need a video amplifier. its been a while since working in the shop, but possibly have better units now.
  25. Muth co makes aftermarket mirrors with led turn signals if you would like an upgrade with a replacement mirror. a full kit or just a single side if need to repack just one. https://shop.muthco.com/silverado-signal-mirror-06
