  1. Our local Ace Hardware made a chip key for my 2015 Silverado for$100.00; that's a lot less than the dealer. I suggest you give them a call and have your VIN,title, and/or registration with you.
  2. Call an auto recycler, t g ey zhoukd have an interchange data base. The data base goes WAY back and is an urreplaceable asset.
  3. How come there's no Avalanche Forum?
  4. I would look at the part numbers of the dashe's wiring harness. GM might used the same harness for all trucks or considering the cost of copper they may not. A GM district rep might know. Call chevy customer service, 1 800 222 1020 (I think) they have been very helpful to me in rhe past.
  5. Go to local Ace hardware, they can fix you up with a key and programming. I paid 100.00 for a programmed key. best price around.
  6. Got an 06 1500 LTZ Avalanche. It needs a fuel pump, which one is the best? TIA
  7. My brother '99? C2500 Heavy 7.4 automatic; speedo is weird. Pls. see attached video. I think it's the sending unit. Doug
  8. Replace the oil pressure sensor. If you ever worked on a small block tou know where it's located, get a GM sensor.
  9. Call Chevy Customer Service, 1 800 222 1020.
  10. The 4 X 4 was engaged while the truck was in the body shop, most likely when they cleaned (almost detailed!!!) the truck for delivery. Thanks for the response!!@
  11. All damage was actually aft of the left front passenger door. I iknow when you weld on modern vehicles you are supposed to disconnect the battery. The driver's seat position presets were gone, reverting else seems unchanged.
  12. Yeah, there are no messages on the instrument panel. I can't draw codes with my scanner. The truck just came out of the body shop, I hit a large rock and the RR passenger door, the RR cab corner, the side of the bed, and the running board were damaged. The steering problem started the day I pick the truck up from the shop. I bet they disconnected the battery, could this be the issue?
  13. Do you know of a diagram of all the components in the shop manual?
  14. No messages. Thanks for responding!!!
  15. I have a 2015 Silverado, 5.3, automatic, 4 X 4 LTZ, 4 door truck with 140 odd k miles on it. When turning the steering wheel 2" to 3" from the center there is a growling sound, the engine slows (the truck won't idle forward or backwards without additional gas. I replaced the belt on the thing that is located where a conventional power steering pump would be. I have a Factory Shop Manual downloaded from the Internet, it's not searchable so you have to go through it to find anything. The book says to pull codes, my scanner can pull tranny and body codes and the engine codes but not codes from the power steering control module. I think its the belt driven member or the wire harness that also includes the control module. Your Thoughts... TIA!!
  16. 2015 1500 Silverado LTZ 5.3l, automatic. My power steering is acting up. I just installed a new belt on something that looks like a pump but it isn't a pump, or at least it doesn't LOOK like a conventional power steering pump. The system is electric, has a control module. My scanner cannot pull codes on the power steering system at idle with the wheels straight or going down the road (with the wheels straight) no issue, when making a turn of more than 1/8th turn of the wheel the truck stops, give it gas it moves like the parking brake is on, there is a distinct drag; the truck stops, goes if you give it gas...there is a low frequency sound, groan? The groan goes away when the wheel is straightened. TIA!!
  17. THANKS GUYS!!!!
  18. I want to remove the AFM from my 2015 Silverado with the 5.3 I currently am using a data link that shuts it off. Who makes a great kit for this. I have seen ONE kit on Amazon for $500.00 or so. Recommends for a kit maker, part number, source would be much appreciated!
  19. Buy a Haynes manual fir your truck. They have wiring schematics in the back.
  20. Take loose a line, set a catchment up that will catch any fluid that may come out pull the fuel pump fuse/breaker and have some one crank the engine while you watch the hose, if you get flow you found the pressure side.
  21. Where does it go and how is it installed? Tx for the P/N!!!
  22. Now, wait a minute! My 06 5.3 oil pressure sending unit had a screen inside it, you could see the screen by looking at the bottom of the unit. Now according to the above later engines have a seperate filter outside the unit? Anyone got part number for this filter?
  23. How is a 3 wire logic box connected on my 2015 Silverado?
  24. You connect hoses to the bleeders then using compressed air/carburetion created vacuum and it draws fluid/air out.
  25. If you're seeing the milky oil under the oil filler cap that is for sure condensate, it forms only due to not getting fully warmed up before it's shut off, like from short trips. You should change your oil every 3k miles or 4 months.
