  1. Hey Rrichard! I side with you, if it's weird and electrical it's grounds!!!
  2. Ck your fuel pressure regulator, the injectors, and the ECM.
  3. I would be sure the fuel and air filters are in good condition or new. Also the fuel pressure regulator has to be operating correctly, and in turn so does the fuel pump.
  4. The 4L60E has somecweek parts, i got mine rebuilt to 4L70E specs for add'l $$$, worth every Nicole. More clutches, other stuff. Only use AC Delco Dex 6 in the tranny and Xfer case.
  5. I installed some calipers upside down on a 71 Monte Carlo, I just couldn't get them to bleed! Air always goes to the top, never the bottom. The front brakes on a motorcycle are really gard to bleed because the air in the master cylinder won't go down to the caliper, I use a vacuum tool to bleed those brakes...
  6. To fix that broken dash.... epoxy and a popsicle stick and a couple of small "C" clamps. put the popsicle stick on the bottom out of sight.
  7. What I can tell you about the tranny: GM is in court all over the country over this tranny. GM found a way to make a torque converter less expensively; they use friction weld tech to join the 2 halves together along with the mounting pads (for the flex plate) these creating hard spots on the circumference and where the mounting pads are. As time passes these areas start to Crack and break, the pieces are caught in the converter pump and sent through the transmission and they destroy the tranny. I took the proceeds from selling my S 10 and motorcycle to pay for a top of the line rebuild using correctly (non GM) made parts. Also to reprogram the tranny you have to take it some one who has purchased the software or a GM dealer.
  8. Maybe your sensor is the wrong one?
  9. Wow, who'd thunk that? 2000 and up trucks are over engineered!!!! Thanks!!!
  10. I have a 2015 LTZ 4 X4 4 door, short bed pickup, 5.3, 6 speed, 140k miles. Early this morning the alarm goes off, twice. It was REALLY foggy all night, the truck was covered in condensation. My theory is humidity got some where and caused current to pass though a switch or sensor and activated the alarm. I realize some one could have been tampering with the doors but the dome light was not on and it's in a very well light area close to my home. So,another question: what functions does the body control module control, is it in this picture?
  11. Sounds to me like a short/bad ground someplace in your heater circuit.
  12. The switch that controls this is also the actuator that locks the doors; at least it is on my Avalanche....
  13. I purchased other half shafts that installed easily, on the normal way. I am returning the first set to Amazon.
  14. I got a key made at Ace Hardware, this is THE place to get a key made, way less $ than anyone else!
  15. Vehicle: '04 ZR5 4 door, 4X4 S 10, (I might have the ZR part wrong, I have other more important issues to think about right now) I replaced the timing chain sprockets and tensioner, that's a whole lot more work than on a small block. I ended up removing everything under the engine, center link, tie rods, 1/2 shafts, knuckles, the brakes to get the oil pan down. GM prefers you place the oil pan on the T-cover/oil pan gasket nexus vs. dropping the pan a little (IMHE) by loosening the first 3 bolts (from the front) a bit and pry down on the pan and slip the T-cover in place, I tried that, ain't no way that is going to happen with the other bolts not loosened there are 2 more bolts accessible on the pan proper, the last 2 are accessed through the bell housing. My problem with this is once a gasket seal is disturbed you can forget about it's sealing any more. Especially where there is RTV involved. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe you guys have had good experiences with this method, I don't trust it. So, anyway I got it put back together with no leaks! I am replacing the 1/2 shafts on both sides, I found one (the drivers side) had a tear in it and the grease inside the boot had been flung out and now coated the inner fender and parts of the control arms, not knowing how old they were and the truck was all torn apart I decided to replace both sides. While I had it out there had been a small tranny fluid leak in the past, the front axle and surrounding areas were oily and dirty. I had the front diff out so I replaced the shaft seals and cleaned the case, rotating to around to get it all cleaned. Its tricky to reinstall if you don't pay attention to the how to given in the GM manual and you'll still need a small pry bar to rotate it clockwise into position. I did all that In Accordance With (IAW) GM instructions. Problem: The new half shafts will not install. The MFR's video says "a few love taps with a rubber mallet" will pop them into their home, no, it won't, not even a little high grade persuasion will make either side go in. I emailed the MFR and they offer no help but a return refund. Suspicion: Rotating the diff while cleaning it allowed some internal part(s) to more and block the shafts from being fully inserted. What do you folks think? TIA
  16. I'm replacing the timing chain and gear in an 04 S-10 ZR5. I get the cover off and the chain is tight as new The cam sprocket has multiple holes in the area just inside the teeth, this was made this way to use less material, lighten the gear, or it's just a cheap gear. The problem is there is no oil on the chain or gears, NO OIL!!! Is there a plugged hole I need to open? If so where is it? TIA
  17. You must have a hard time finding used vehicles to buy huh?
  18. They are called " brush guards" because the offer protection from "brush" not steel.
  19. Thanks mjm-1957!!!!! What is a "VIS"?
  20. HI RICHARD! My 20 15 Silverado is a insurance total rebuild. I hear GM disavows the VINs (and therefor the truck) of totals that are returned to service. I read about some recalls on 2015 trucks, air bags and the brake module needs to be reflashed for the brakes going to non powered status. I run my VIN on the Gov't recall web site and get no hits. Can you run my VIN and see if I'm included? I suppose if me truck is affected I'd have to pay the dealer for the reflash, what about the air bag? TIA for any help you can afford me. 3GCUKSEC2FG305725
  21. DO NOT BUY AP CATS. I bought AP cats for my 2015 Silverado. The Flange on the end of the Y pipe was made too small, it would not hook up. I bought them at WWW.PARTSGEEK.COM. Parts geek will not pay return shipping for any reason not their fault. If I wanted my $550.odd back I have to pay the $121.odd shipping. I did and because AP copped to the defect I got my money back, AP ignores my emails asking them to refund the shipping I paid to return their defective product. Don't buy from AP Exhaust. I bought the GM cat Y pipe, it installed way easier than the AP POS and through this forum I was given the break-in instructions from GM; AP EXHAUST provides NO break in instructions. I have had no codes since I installed the GM cats. I emailed AP EXH. again today, I got a auto reply, we'll see what happens.
  22. I got one key fob when I bought the truck, I suppose I should get another one.
  23. I have no idea if it's turned on or not. When I open the door the seat goes in one direction or the other, usually backwards. It moves forward before I sit down or it just stays backed up all the way.
