  1. Video below. Dealer got it in and out. The reason I chose the BAK was I had a friend that had one and liked it and I got some bad info from Realtruck. I did not realize until the BAK got here that there was a problem with the Tailgate Cap. To be honest I wish I had stuck with the Access now. I have had great luck with my many access covers but many of the reviews on these BAKs are horrible. I am hoping they have fixed some of the issues. The BAK works flawless and is easier to roll than Access Cover and of course more secure. However, if I had it to do over again knowing what I know now I would not buy one. I think there is going to be longevity issues Its works impressive at the moment. I am just skeptical....
  2. Well let is know how you come out. I need to get my new truck buffed and graphene coating put on it in the next 3 or 4 weeks. I have pretty much gave up on wax with the ease of application for DIY cerarmics.
  3. You should be able to use anything. Wax, ceramic coatings, etc. I have waxed plastic chrome many times and ceramic after I stopped using wax. I think I would claybar a inconspicuous spot and wax it to see how it looks. Makes me think you have some film or something on there. Do you use automated car washes that might use a protectant? Plastic chrome typically responds well to wax.
  4. I don't think made in America means anything anymore My wife has a 2017 Accord we bought new. The finish in it is flawless inside and out and beyond oil changes and new tires we have never had to do anything to it. I took mine to dealer yesterday and they removed inside cover and cut the 2 sided tape on top cap with a putty knife. Its much better now. They are having me come back this morning and they are going to put a new cap on it.
  5. So I assume its supposed to be flat. @MrLeadFoot did you check it with level after? I ordered and returned an Access cover because it did not fit the way I wanted. RealTruck acted like it was normal but guaranteed the BAK X4s would not have same issue. What I figured out was my trim cap is bowed up in middle because. I realized this after the fact because the new X4S has same issue. Planning on calling dealer tomorrow but would like to know if they are supposed to be flat.
  6. As it turns out the Access cover might have worked fine. Installed the BAK and it has the same issue. It appears the plastic cap on top of tailgate has been improperly installed. If your remove the inside panel on the tailgate you can see the top cap has lip that drops down inside of tailgate with 2 sided tape. There is a crown in the middle where they did not push the center down far enough. Its well adhered with tape. I am going to call the dealer body Monday and see if I can get them to fix it.
  7. Well RealTruck was good about it and is letting me return it. Unfortunately, I am sending almost double to get a BAK X4s. They guarantee my tailgate will power up and down without issues.
  8. Just got this from Real Truck. This inclined install is required due to the tailgate being automatic and having sensors. If you would like, we can discuss the option of a return on this cover and either getting something else or a refund. We apologize but this is the best options available.
  9. So your last truck have power up/down? That is issue for me.
  10. I have owned about 4 or 5 Access covers over the years and they have held up great. Just got a new one today and installed. Instructions talk about loosening the clamps and raising rails if the tailgate does not open/close properly. Not thrilled to do that as I think flush looks best but I did it anyway. I took one shot at it and its better but not perfect yet. My complaint is its just tight in the center and by time you get it high enough to clear in middle the sides have a gap. I have a request in to real-truck but unlikely I will get a response of any value. I am not beyond removing the extruded aluminum piece of needed and tweaking it so there is a slight arch in middle. Anyone had this issue?
  11. I am wondering if this would help or hurt me. My 2017 had a bed rug that covered tailgate as well. In winter the section that covered the gap would get wet and freeze . So it did not hinge well. I assumed it came from bottom but was not sure. I will probably order a new Bedrug in the next week for my new 2024. Been thinking about getting the version that does not cover tailgate because of that.
  12. Another vote for bedrug. For those that have never had one, dont think about it as carpet. Stuff is soft but you can put gravel on it. My high country had a bedrug and my new LTZ will too. I think I am going to skip the tailgate this time and just do the bed.
  13. I was dating in High School when they were popular. Good stuff.
  14. I would not expect the dealer to come out and tell you that they are going to reprogram your vehicle. Its just stuff they do under warranty if it fits inside the time they told you they would have the vehicle. I would be getting the dealers customer satisfaction manager involved. GM does not want unhappy customers and in my experience the dealer will jump though hoops to make you happy. That said, I have not had many issues post COVID and I feel with parts and vehicle shortages things have slipped. I have had a new 2024 LTZ for a few weeks and have found the infotainment system to be quirky and unreliable at times. They did an update about a month ago and it was better but has wigged out about 3 times since. I don't think its a defective part(s) in my case, but just a design program as I have seen lots of posts where people are having issues. In your case I am wondering if the damaged something during your oil change. A lot of that stuff does not sound like its related to the update. Regardless... Customer Service Manager. Find out who it is and contact them. My dealer has a great one who gets stuff done. I ended up sending her flowers as a thank you for taking care of issues the service department was not resolving.
  15. Well looks like there is still issues. My truck has looked like this all day on this screen. Several key cycles. Finally did a reset to get it back. Audio screen black.
  16. That surprises me. Hard to believe it could be worse.
  17. What are you guys doing for antennas? I just traded my 17 in for a 2024 so I no longer have the 3rd brake light billet bracket option. Not sure I am even going back in with 2 meter rig. Rich (KD0ZV)
  18. That is an interesting concept. I have Bixby automation routines for other things now. I might have to play with that for fun. It would have to be automated and quick. My average daily trip is 10 minutes so do not want to mess around connecting to phone, etc just to have functionality. But that is great food for thought. Thanks!
  19. I am talking about in my configuration. There are a few features that don't work without Onstar data. As an example the posted speed limit sign the sales guy touted. Does not work without a data plan. Normally, I would not care but I have a heads up display at the posted speed limit sign is quite nice. This is different over the various years. I have heard rumors the 2025 will not be the same.
  20. Thanks for the info. Glad you got it working and as you said hopefully GM will make this native. No reason they cant. I am not an iphone user. You said "also have wireless Carplay". Do iphone users not have wireless carplay to start with like Android users? My only gripe is you cant pull data from your phone plan so without Onstar you dont have full functionality Something else GM could have easily done
  21. Are you thinking the leather in the LTZ and High Country are better than RST leather? Its my understanding they are exactly the same. They are all fake leather. I just switched from High Country to LTZ and they both had crappy leather interiors. Like most other vehicles.
  22. Only thing that surprised me. The deep discounts did not apply to the 2500. Just seemed they are trying to offload the 1500s.
  23. For what its worth all the 2024 1500s at my dealer are heavily discounted. I rarely buy new and never trade in. But I just bought a 24 LTZ for $13.500 off MSRP and got a great trade in price.
