  1. I sat in 3 different gas 2500 at the dealer that made the same noise. 2 others didn’t make the noise. GM seems either clueless on how to fix or just unwilling to repair something that’s apparently just an annoyance. so. ... I bought a tiny Flowmaster muffler and now I barely hear it. Seriously, that’s what I did. I’m tired of wasting time on it, I really like the truck otherwise.
  2. You pay more up front for that Duramax. It’s pretty much a wash at trade in time.
  3. No! Lol I towed my 37’ camper the day after I got mine.
  4. I did this for my train horn install (2500) I had the switch bank completely out. Mine come out in sections of 3. It looks like the board extends into the fake switch area and there is a button on there. I didn’t dig any further because my plan was to drill them for my switches. I installed my switches here instead...
  5. I did connect it to the passenger side fusebox- one of the exposed lugs in the center. It's switched and it's retained power so perfect for the CB. Need to fuse the lead!
  6. The HD had the same rear seat and floor as the 1500 so...
  7. Hey there, If anyone is interested in a more compact "Train Horn" kit that can all fit under the hood pretty easily, this one works. I was able to install the whole shebang into the secondary battery location. It's the Vixen Model # VXO8805/3118. I purchased on Amazon. The biggest difference between this kit and most is the tank is only 1/2 gallon in size. You still get about 4 seconds or so, which is plenty! The compressor can recover a completely empty tank in 45 seconds. While this doesn't sound exactly like a train, it's plenty deep and loud. It's not gonna blow your neighbor's windows out, but it is quite a bit louder than the factory horns. The kit comes with everything you need, except a relay (you really should use one to switch the compressor). I also installed some switches in the dash. One powers the compressor which in turn arms the horn button. If anyone wants any more details let me know. Here are the pics! 8. I just used a switch I had in the electric project box... I keep the tonneau cover on so it's fairly protected. I always coat my connections with dielectric grease and marine heatshrink so everything else is solid.
  9. I wired mine in with a switch and 12v+ in the bed, No issues upstream like you describe. I also wired in a programmable timer I found on Amazon so If I accidentally leave the bed lights on, it'll shut em off after 5 minutes. If you flick the switch off then on again it resets the timer. Works great. Here's a link to the timer- amazing flexible. You program it on your bench and then install... 10 Amp Mini Timer Time Delay Relay .2 Sec to 400 days 6V 12V 18V. Power On Off Delay, Cycling and Trigger - - Amazon.com
  10. Thanks! It's just a Firestik Firering CB mount. I drilled a hole to match like you posted, but I used a stainless fender washer underneath to spread the load better.
  11. Thanks- I can’t remember the password lol!
  12. I bought black vinyl stickers off Amazon when I had my 1500. I was shocked, but they held up great.
  13. So, nobody else having this?
  14. Hey there- This screen just started popping up over and over and over. No matter what button I select it keeps coming back. How the hell do I make it go away? Forever. It’s driving me nuts. Thanks
  15. Any progress on this part? I would love to see how you accesses the inside. thanks!
  16. Man great job! I’ve done a TON of writeups on another forum I was on and I know how much time it takes. This is excellent and a great contribution to this forum. THANK YOU!
  17. You should change your username to “Ballsofsteel”. Nice job so far man!
  18. I tow a 37’ camper all in I guess I’m approaching 10k. Tows like a dream with the gas motor. I’m very happy.
  19. I like the interior. Only gripe would be the seats could have more lumbar support. Still, it’s a nice place to be.
  20. I just put a flowmaster in place of the factory muffler and a stainless tip. I love it. Aftermarket will eventually rust at the welds, but it takes years. To me, it's worth the sound. I am 51 and have had a muffler or some sort of exhaust on every single vehicle I have owned.
  21. No. Just the Eaton. It's fully automatic but it is a true locker.
  22. Yeah, skid plates, Rancho Shocks, Eaton Locker, hill descent, badging... You are correct about the 5.3 feeling faster, but it wakes up when you break it in a bit. Also, it never really feels underpowered. You will find the tranny is better sorted as well. It's just more of a truck.
  23. I’ve heard the ones that make a slight hiss. Mine is very noticeable and it groans and moans like it needs to be bled. Without the muffler I would have traded for another hd it was driving me nuts.
  24. My electric steering in my LTZ is my only complaint with this truck. Hisssss, groan, lots of noise all the time. Had it to two different dealers, 3 times. They replaced a hose but the noise is considered "normal". They showed me the TSB's, yadayada. After the 3rd trip, they let me sit in 4 different HD trucks and 3 of them made the exact same noise. Maybe a fix is in the works but I dunno. The steering does otherwise have a nice weight to it, and it's great for an HD truck so... I put a tiny little flowmaster muffler on there and now I have a better noise to listen to, lol. Happy now.
  25. It will be a night and day difference. I don't miss my 1500 one bit.
