No worries man. Just didn’t want this to degenerate into the usual GM vs other manufacturers. That’s why I specifically did not mention what I got.

The point of my post wasn’t to start another tired “GM vs another manufacturer” post. My point is that I am severely disappointed with GM’s quality based on my experience with my 2014 K2 and also reading about the ongoing issues now 3 model years into the new generation. These things prevented me from rebuying a GM product.

Almost 6.5 years and 124k miles. Despite all the issues, I really liked that truck. The 6.2L/6 speed combo was a beast. She will be missed. Replaced with a 2021 truck of a different manufacturer. Gonna stay away from GM for a while and see what happens.

Regarding the “Hemi”..... Looks like they might have a design problem that chronically underlubricates the cam. Not sure about long term reliability of these.

To say that the 2014-current trucks have glitchy and gimmicky electronics is not doing it justice. I still have my 2014 truck and I wouldn’t touch this current generation. Maybe things will improve for MY 2022 but I doubt it. GM builds vehicles as cheaply as possible and it blatantly shows.

Dear God.... How is this still happening? Does GM have no shame?

What’s up with the Tundra? Known Issues?

I agree. Cross shopping all the brands and not liking what I’m seeing. A lot of issues with Ford and Ram. My 2014 is at 119k and literally just waiting for the next issue so it’s gonna go soon. I don’t trust it any more. Now looking at 2020/2021 Tundra seriously. I want something simple and reliable.

Seems par for the course for GM since at least 2014. Loaded with a bunch of “tech” which is largely just gimmicky poorly executed BS. Built as cheaply as possible. My 2014 has been the same. Issue after issue. Won’t rebuy GM at this point.

You’ll have similar issues with GM products.

Thanks all. So has GM finally sorted out the rear window leaks? It’s amazing that this could still be going on into August of 2020. 150 pages of leaking windows here does not inspire confidence.

Seems like the 3 American brands are having consistent QC issues. Ford and Ram forums are a horror show. Don’t really want a Tundra because it’s ancient.

2014 GMC Sierra Denali with 117,000 miles. Literally one thing after another over the last year or so. Getting so tired of GM. Seems like they start to fall apart after 100k miles despite meticulous maintenance. Plenty of other repairs since new. Had all of the well know issues known to the 2014-2018 trucks. Thinking about getting rid of this truck and getting new. Cross shopping all the brands. Would you rebuy a 2019 or 2020 truck given your experience with the brand? I’m mostly interested in reliability and trouble-free ownership as long as realistically possible. I’ve owned many GM vehicles in my life but this has been by far the one that needed the most trips to dealer/repair shops.

I had a ‘97 (LT1) and then a ‘99 Z28 (LS1). Both 6 speed manual transmissions. I remember reading countless threads on the LS1 boards about people missing the 2-3 shift and going from 2nd at or near redline to 1st instead of 3rd and manually overreving the engine. No rev limiter is gonna save your ass. Bent pushrods resulted.

I'm gonna guess it was a missed shift on a manual transmission. User error. Not the engine's fault.

Yeah, I’m referring specifically to the 1500s. Those have become all about efficiency/MPG with all the associated garbage tech and smoke and mirror tricks like smaller gas tanks.

More smoke and mirrors from GM. They limit tank size to save weight and improve MPG.

Absolutely spot on. That’s been my experience. Great traction until ~20k, then wet traction goes to hell.

Is this a change for the KO2s or have they always had deep siping like that? I had a set of KO2s before the current duratracs and just like the duratracs they hit ~25k miles and got very slippery in the wet. I had to replace the KO2s at 30k miles as they felt unsafe in wet. Now I’m in the same situation with the duratracs at 36k miles. Still have plenty of tread but they are very slippery in the wet.

Can you clarify about the AT2s? I have Duratracs at 36,000 miles. They’ve become very loud and slippery in the wet. Looking at the Michelin AT2s and interested in your experience.

Another perfect example of the half-baked gimmicks GM is putting into these vehicles.
