  1. the aux switches have built in fuses & relays already!
  2. for sure, here is a link for the lights i used. Saw these from another member on here actually, they are really nice weatherproof lights that provide lots of light considering how small they are. https://www.online-led-store.com/6pc-lamphus-stardust-sdrl14-led-off-road-rock-light-orzledwkl1050-xx-x6 Since i already have installed the factory aux switches, i decided to wire the lights into them as opposed to the reverse lights. This lets me turn the lights on whenever i want, which i really like, for situations like boat ramps etc.. The aux switches leaves you with 4 blunt cut wires under the dash. There is a really nice grommet under the drivers side floor mats/carpet that the parking brake cable goes through i think. I ran some wire through this grommet & tucked it under the door sill, up under the dash. I picked the blunt cut wire that corresponded to the switch i wanted & spliced into that. Really nice thing about the aux switches is depending what spot you put the fuse in, you can control whether the lights are always on, or just when the truck is on. i picked just when the truck is on to avoid leaving them on accidentally & draining battery. I then ran the wire underneath the truck & down the frame. This was definitely the hardest part, trying to keep the wire away from pinch & burn points. i mostly followed existing wire harnesses. To mount the lights, i drilled a small hole in the plastic step for the white to go through. sealed it with RTV silicone & screwed the lights into the bumper. Found a good ground by the trailer hitch & spliced both lights into the wire i ran. Pretty happy with how it turned out! Ill post some more pics too! Let me know if you want to see anything else.
  3. I put mine facing out towards the side of the truck and wired into aux switches. Works well for backing up at night and can turn on manually when at a dark boat launch or loading up sleds late at night!
  4. Yea got the same alert when I entered my vin (1500) and it worked perfectly. They are definitely the same part. Just make sure you get the colour and press to start or no press to start right!
  5. Here’s the upfitter bulletin for snow plow jumper harness install. Use this but route to bed of truck? https://www.gmupfitter.com/files/media/photo/1363/UI Bulletin 161_wip.pdf
  6. Nice work think your the only person at least that I’ve seen who has done this. Pics of the light bar installed?
  7. I think just a nicer, more factory look. Never been a fan of those switch panels people add. I also just extended the wires from the back of the switches into the engine bay when installed so it’s easy to add stuff later.
  8. Cool looks good! What you thinking for lights? And what’s up with the trim colour around that panel? Something custom you did?
  9. Same part numbers I believe. Interiors are identical.
  10. Yea you just ground to frame, I usually ground to wherever I’m mounting something. For the switched power there is a new fuse box you mount that has fuses for the switches. Depending on the location of the fuses, they can be either ignition switched or constant power. They are grouped switch 1 and 2 together and 3 and 4 so you could potentially have some stuff constant power and other stuff switched. Pretty slick!
  11. yea under the hood probably would have been better, but its really not a big deal. theres a nice grommet under the drivers side floor mat/carpet where the parking break cable goes through that you can use to run wires through, without having to go through the firewall. then you can tuck the wires under the door sill so they are all hidden. works good!
  12. no, the blunt cut wires hang out behind the dash panel. nice and easy!
  13. not too hard actually, just have to go through the different sections on gmpartsdirect.com heres most of the part diagrams for ya! Think all im missing here is the fuse kit for the battery itself.. Remember different part numbers for the knee bolster/switches depending on colour!
  14. lol my dealer said the same thing. in the end, i ended up showing them the part numbers on the parts diagram to get them to order them....
  15. Never had a k2 So correct me if I’m wrong but couldn’t you only get the upfitter switches on those trucks if you had a Lower optioned model since the upfitter switches went below the center stack in the same spot higher optioned truck features went? anyways, hey whatever you like. I love how they are integrated into the left hand side dash panel.
  16. I disagree! I think they are well integrated into the interior to the point they match whatever colour your interior is. I do think the overhead console where ford puts them is a better spot but hey, not gonna catch me driving a Ford over some switch locations!
  17. Purchased from dealer, they installed them too. It’s not too hard to install yourself if you are at all mechanically inclined. Good instructions on the upfitter website. And a thread somewhere on here of someone who did the install.
  18. that same message popped up when i ordered my parts & i installed them no problem, everything works perfect, so i wouldn't be too worried about it. there's also really good parts diagrams on gmpartsdirect. this is how i found the part numbers for what i ordered, maybe its what your are looking at too? Here are the 4 options for the knee bolster. Its basically with or without push button start, black or grey (atmosphere) interior. hope this helps. Your dealer can verify for you.
  19. lots of pictures & complete part lists in this thread! Just have to go back a few pages!
  20. Just buy a portable CD player and connect it to the aux input in the console. Or like everyone else said, stream/USB/CarPlay etc..
