  1. Thanks @gemarsh I got the relay&LED installed and tested today along with a wireless remote and solar charger through the 7-way plug.
  2. thank you, looks like I have a weekend project to install
  3. Kind of an old post, but on one of my trailers the emergency breakaway system has LED lights showing the battery status, and when the truck is on, it does show the status as charging the breakaway system battery. I guess you could put a meter on the trailer battery with the truck off, and see if the reading increases when you start the truck. I don't know if it is a regulated 12v to the back, or a higher (alternator) voltage for charging.
  4. Seems the towing forum is not getting a lot of views, so I'll try this here. I have a 2020 Sierra 1500, and just purchased a dump trailer for occasional personal use. There are general reports (not vehicle specific) of people blowing the charging circuit fuse if they don't unplug dump trailers prior to using the hydraulics. It seems to stem from a low charge on the trailer battery, and then drawing too much current through the tow vehicle charging system when operating the lift. With everything computer controlled in these new vehicles, is there a built in protection from this type of occurrence, where I don't need to be mindful to unplug the trailer prior to operating the dump hydraulics?

  6. Agreed, and GM must be done now, the update finally came in this evening.
  7. thanks, still no update on my end.
  8. I have a 2020 built 2/2020, and have version 1.48. Is it safe to say that you had less than v150 and still got the over the air update?
  9. Yup, and have the ding in the paint to prove it. Very worthwhile option for my usage. Makes getting in/out of the bed a lot easier in my case.
  10. my 2020 is running build W119E dated Sep 12 2019
  11. It has been more than 2 months since the announcement. https://www.gm-trucks.com/gm-releases-significant-over-the-air-update-for-2020-silverado-sierra-other-vehicles/ My truck maintains a WIFI connection and also had free onstar connection over the holidays. I have not received the latest OTA update, and I have manually checked for it as well. How many others have gotten it, and how many have not?
  12. I'll be trying this ~$55 option once available https://9to5google.com/2020/09/07/android-auto-wireless-dongle-project/
  13. Was in Normal mode... It's cold for Alabama was lower 60s at the time. I only went a couple miles. I'll see if it continues on a normal trip, thanks all, I learned some things today.
  14. Truck is steering unusually tight today, tire pressure is good. Figured I'd check the power steering fluid level under the hood. I can't find the reservoir/dip stick location. The manual talks about it, but does not show a location in the engine compartment for that motor. Is it there someplace, if so where, or is this not a user serviceable fluid on a 2020 5.3l Sierra ?
  15. Until someone challenges them in court, they'd lose that one big time. It's a direct violation of federal law.
  16. nice design, nice website, good job! One thing I couldn't notice in the wiring harness, is there an on/off switch?
  17. That would be a direct violation of the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act, United States federal law (15 U.S.C. § 2301)
  18. ramps and I went with https://www.valvomax.com/
  19. Not a feature I currently use, but the phone would block visual and easy access to the controller. You can reach around and change it, but not see it. Luckily the brake controller should be a set and forget system, if not, a second go-pro base on the left side would be a good idea,, the mount could be places on the left when towing and the phone can still be easily reached from the driver side, at least with my reach.
  20. I went with these because of the all metal construction, looks the same as above, but all metal. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07N67LWBQ
  21. purchase mid April 2020 1500 2wd Crew Cab SLT Premium Plus TX ED/with all the bells and whistles 54,790 MSRP -6,004 preferred customer discount (don't know what this is) 48,786 cash price of vehicle -7,500 rebate 41,286 selling price after rebate bought 2 states away, beat local deals by about 4k
  22. This was the best solution I could come up with after a few failures. If you want it higher, you can just use a longer ram extension, I wanted it lower so it didn't block the seat and temp controls. It utilizes a go-pro base with ram adapters. I am in Alabama and so far no heat issues. Don't laugh at my old phone, the new one is taking the pictures. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01L13RXBS https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06ZZWJYPD https://www.amazon.com/s?k=ram+socket+arm&i=electronics&ref=nb_sb_noss_2 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DFDKNZF
  23. Are you sure the cover is leaking? Let me explain that... On my hard cover, the water gets trapped in the mounting rails, but instead of going out the front drain holes it flows back and out the end by the tailgate, and into the bed. My issue is the mounting rails not draining properly and had I not seen it happen by opening the tailgate and seeing water flowing out the rails, I would have though it was from the rear seal, but in my case, it isn't. Water flows into and out of the lower channel in this image, it hits the tailgate and instead of all of it flowing down and out, a good portion makes it back into the bed. This is on an extang xceed.
  24. Yeah, I know I am replying to an old post, but I just came from a 2003 Ram 1500 QC 4x4 to a 2020 GMC SLT 2wd, and the squat difference is HUGE. I have no idea if 4x4 suspensions are stronger or not, but I just put helper springs on the GMC, squat was awful compared to what I was used to.
