  1. You guys have literally read this thread, you know one owner had his truck ripped apart (per the bullshit exciter wheel bulletin) and we’re inconvenienced for at least 20+days for a problem that really isn’t that big of a problem and after all that knowing it didn’t even fix the problem but yet you still went ahead and participated in this experiment, I don’t know what to tell you! Please report back when you get your trucks back and it still does the crank no start.
  2. No way in hell I’d let them replace that exciter wheel, when we already know it doesn’t fix the problem.
  3. Good luck with that, your in for a bumpy ride.
  4. Did they perform the inspection on the reluctor wheel per the Bulletin for this problem?
  5. Based on all the trucks that have been inspected the trigger wheel has not been bent on a single other truck, just on the first one they looked at, it was a fluke that they created. TSB off of. Don’t worry about the trigger wheel on your motor.
  6. There are 2020’s affected but most 2021’s seem to have done it pretty early in ownership
  7. No one does, their engineers need to figure this out.
  8. A lot of people speculated that it was something to do with brake application while pushing the start button and that has proven to be nothing but pure speculation, the trucks will do the crank/no start with the remotes and you not even being in the vehicle. There’s a fix I’m sure GM just doesn’t have it yet. This problem made the Fast Lane Web forum a few days back so like I said, it’s widespread. https://tfltruck.com/2021/06/ask-tfl-help-my-new-2021-gmc-sierra-1500-diesel-is-having-start-up-problems-possible-solutions/
  9. That reprogram was their first attempt at fixing it earlier this year. It didn’t work and either has this super invasive procedure for replacing the Cam Exciter wheel that came out in May. Now they are saying to check the cam sensor for metal on the magnet, that doesn’t make sense either since the member here who had the 40 hour repair had both sensors replaced and it still did it. They have no clue how to fix it yet. On the GM Facebook pages there are 3-5 new owners reporting this problem every single day, it’s widespread.
  10. #1 You don’t have a bent camshaft sensor. #2. Did you not read the responses on this thread? That TSB was done on one of the members trucks a few posts up that’s responding in this thread and it did not fix his problem, why would you allow them to do it?
  11. 9.9 out of 10 times when there is a shimmy or vibration at certain highway speed ranges it is the tires…period. Unless all 4 tires were swapped and then retested it’s a waste of time. Sometimes tires just have stuff wrong with them and they can be balanced 100 times it doesn’t make a difference. I have gone through this problem before and then had the tires replaced and drove off a happy man.
  12. I agree with you 100%! They cost too damn much to buy it and then have to do what I did. I’ve put Bilsteins and Fox’s on Tundras and F150’s, in some cases for a slight leveling and in some cases because I wasn’t happy with some part of the ride (ie the newer F150’s have very stiff rear springs for payload and the rear shocks are not well tuned by design) but the fronts aren’t that bad. The 5th gen rams have a really good suspension in stock form, especially the off-road models. This new Chevrolet Z71 with the Diesel off-road package had the worst front and rear suspension of any new truck I’ve owned. Thankfully we have options!
  13. If you are happy with the floaty ride that’s inherit to these trucks and the garbage Ranchos then you don’t have to do anything to it. I absolutely hated the way the truck felt and rode the more I drove it so it was a no brainer for me. The more I researched this issue the more I realized that GM guys are just used to the car like ride in these trucks , guess they’ve had this suspension feel for several year models. For me it was horrendous, especially compared to the Ram Off-road I traded in for this truck. My wife doesn’t know ****** about trucks or suspensions and even she was like why does this truck move up and down so much on our rough roads, I just told her ….I know…..I’m working on it.
  14. I ordered two oil changes worth and plan on using it.
  15. Well when the feedback is way off point what’s a guy supposed to do? Go to the dealer and say “I hate how this trucks suspension feels”…..yeah that will go over well! I knew what was wrong with it, just had to figure out how to fix it, $1100 later it’s fixed!
  16. Well I got some Bilstein 6112’s installed on the front and 5160’s on the rear. Absolutely transformed this truck, I love it now, I hated it before!
  17. 6112’s and 5160’s are an even better upgrade. Totally transformed the worn out old Oldsmobile feeling the truck had. Now it’s planted and controlled, plus the ass end doesnt dance around anymore on broken pavement or railroad track!
  18. yeah I tow stuff and there’s nothing worse than running around nose in the air and ass end sagging. Especially on mountain roads where the headlights become ineffective. I only have 1” difference between the front and back fenders in stock form and if I stand in the bed the rear is lower than the front.. that’s no bueno.
  19. I think it really depends on what your used to driving. All I know is after finding this forum last night and posting this thread I did some searching and I’m clearly not alone in how I feel about the suspension. It apppears most have been appeased by replacing the cheap ass Ranchos with some sort of alternative. I’ll slap the new shocks and springs on next week and report back.
  20. I hear what your saying, but it’s not a dealership warranty issue. I’m pretty mechanically savvy and I’ve owned pretty much every other half ton and several 3/4 tons in the last 25 years. (multiple Tundras, multiple F-150’s, multiple Rams) Leaf spring, coil spring, off-road and non off-road models. None of them have been as fubarred as this thing is. It’s like it has every negative attribute that each of my previous trucks have had all in one package. I’ve done a bunch of searching and it appears I’m not the only one who has experienced this, there are a lot of threads on guys complaining about the bouncy boat feeling and rear hop and slide on several forums. I’m sure the Bilsteins will make it better. With all that said, I love the LM2 and 10 spd combo, it performs amazingly!
  21. How do you take a new truck back to the dealership after a week of driving it and tell them that the suspension sucks? It’s not like it’s the front or the back, or one thing, it just seems like a terrible suspension design. I truly believe the shocks are just cheap as hell, and with the extra weight of the 3.0 in the front it just make it worse. And the leaf spring pack in the rear to try to bump payload and towing also with cheap shocks it’s just not well designed or invested in. The rear suspension is super soft in these trucks, a hard tri fold tonneau took an inch away from my rear suspension, that’s crazy. Anyway I ordered Bilstein 6112’s and 5160’s for the truck last night, god willing it will make a big difference, will surely update when I get everything on. I think part of the problem is that my Ram 1500 Off-road had a much better suspension so it’s really obvious to me. I bought this truck for the power train 3.0 Diesel/10 spd, other wise it was a pretty serious downgrade.
  22. Trucks are still arriving at dealerships here in Colorado, I spent a couple weeks searching stuff on lots but had opportunities on several inbound trucks that have already arrived. I found the truck I wanted in North Denver and got the $4500 rebates and another $3500 in dealer discount. Also got way more for my trade in than I could imagine! Bought mine from Autonation. I did see a couple dealers tacking on a $5000 market adjustment but I just skipped dealing with them.
  23. I just ordered 6112’s and 5160’s, and a 2” block for the back to add some rake. God I hope it makes this truck ride better!
  24. Hello guys, new Silverado owner here, recently bought a 2021 RST Z71 with Diesel off-road package and after 500 miles of driving it I have realized that this truck has the worst suspension I have ever felt in a truck and I’ve owned a bunch of them (though in full disclosure this is my first GM). There are multiple things that I have noticed since buying it that I didn’t notice on my 3-4 mile test drive. The truck bounces like crazy! It feels like I’m driving an old worn out Oldsmobile or something. I literally counted 3 bounces on the front end before recovery after hitting a dip at 50 mph, it’s like the shocks are worn out. The rear does the same thing, as well as jarring sideways on pavement breaks , sometimes at speed (ie like a railroad track). In addition I literally feel everything in the road through the cab and steering wheel, every little crack, broken spots, etc. Colorado has bad roads but I traded in a 2019 Ram 1500 with the Off-road package and the same exact tires that in stock form rode 10x better than this truck. I have messed with air pressure and it hasn’t helped in any way. So with all that said I am prepared to upgrade whatever is needed to make this truck ride better. Bilstein 6112’s and 5160’s is where I’m pointed right now. Can any of you that have gone through what I am going through give me a little feedback on maybe what you did. Thanks in advance.
