  1. I've had both issues since day one!! Saw the vents popped out when installing the tonneau cover. So upset as I brought this in many times for these issues. Just spent all morning cleaning up water and re installing these pricks with marine glue. So pissed! These vents go in from outside only, and require box to be moved back. But you can pull them back in from the inside and glue in place, add screws. It's a bit tricky to remove seat back, so check out youtube
  2. It can be done if the dealer gets permission. A high end scan tool (non GM) can turn it off
  3. Check for a popped out vent, under back window between box. Cant get it back in. Box needs removal to access just fixed it from inside remove back seat rest. Pull the vent back in easily I added marine glue and a screw to secure them. dried out seat back and carpet
  4. Yes, but it's the vent that popped out!! Look at bottom of rear window, between box and below rear window. Chances are, a vent popped out! Replacing this is not easy, as the box must be unbolted and pulled back far enough to insert this @#$% thing. Thanks GM, for another useless feature that costs us time and money. Water pouring in FFS
  5. Just wasted a day at the dealer. I left the truck for phone cutting out and rear cam bad display at night. They have replace the cam twice already, and updated the Radio software 4 times. I printed the latest TSB #25-NA-121, with update Y177. It states the dealer is to update the software if the customer has any issues with the Radio and dropped calls. TSB mentions IF this does not fix the issues, refer to SI diagnostics. After 2 hours, the service manager called and said "the tech cant find anything wrong, but the problem is your dash cam and trailer brake switch. She wanted to charge me for diagnosis as these added items were installed. The tech never looked for TSB's. I had to remind her of the TSB stating the new software must be installed first, then diag as need. I reminded her that a customer doesn't have to pay for anything they did not authorize. She then told the tech to update the software. He kicked out the truck without replacing the cam...probably pissed he wont get diag time. This is a reminder that knowledge of current TSB's is very important It's well worth the money to get ALLDATA DIY and have factory bullitins. No matter what make of vehicle, this knowledge of what is free can make a huge difference. Most car dealers are not forthcoming on what's free to the customer. It's easier and makes them more money to just charge you full pop, rather than making a warranty claim! Thing is, the TSB does not state aftermarket devices can cause issues. Many people with Radio issues have nothing added, but still have failures. Just beware that some dealer may try to blame you, and charge you, even though a fault is listed on TSB. You need to know what is warranty...only way is to have access to something like ALLDATA
  6. So pissed. Just moving in my son and the truck acts up! Serious lack of power and all warning lights on dash. I checked TSB's and searched GM data. Found wire chafing common and can cause this code. Desperate, i crawled under hood and pulled that crappy harness at every spot they mentioned. Nada. Still shook. I know from years of repairing equipment that moving a harness that's chafing will cause immediate relief or symptom to get worse. Since no change, the next possibility was the #2 injector itself. It's under plenum, so that means parts, gaskets.... Off to dealer. They verified it's warranty so the GM loaner truck was covered. Got is fixed in 2 days, but i'm ready to dump this as it's too freaken early for major breakdowns. 40,000 kms Cant buy anything reliable these days Looking for an 80's GM with Quadrajet carb just to occasionally pull my trailer. So done with modern crap.
  7. Just had the dealer install 0 dubya 40 instead of 0-20. It's killing 6.2 's and 0-40 is now installed as a fix for 6.2's I'm pulling at max load on my 5.3 and want best protection during summer months. Asked for 0 dubya 40 instead. Sure, good choice service manager said. Come time to pay bill, it's double the already high price to change oil. Over $300 Canadian. Can't wait for Amazon to open oil centres....lol So be prepared if you decide to upgrade to better protection!!
  8. Yeah that ultra thin oil doesn't cut it at low RPM and load....exactly what i'm doing pulling a heavy trailer with my 5.3. Si, i'm puttin in the molasses too!
  9. I had that happen soon after the dealer replaced the camera, and tailgate switch. They left the 2 10mm nuts loose! then water got in, took out the cam again. They put in another cam, nut this time i remover the tailgate cover and added dielectric silicone to all plugs and switch, cam. Then added black RTV silicone to exterior of handle housing...to stop water from getting in.
  10. I've had all the latest updates...and still have dropped calls. It happens with or without cord, any iphone. Getting dangerous as you have to grab you're phone to continue the conversation. Might get me a ticket or cause collision!!

  12. They installed my tailgate switch again. This time I asked them to leave off covers and bolts holding switch handle in place. With new switch, I removed it to inspect. Just what I thought, the tailgate switch is not weather proof. It’s not potted or properly sealed. Worse, the tailgate handle assembly has no gasket. The camera and light also let in water. So, water pours in the top of Handle assembly, through cam and light the switch also allows water to pour inside it. GM, you’re asking for trouble here. Designed to fail. Possible lawsuit from tail gate opening and activating my trailer Jack. It actually lifted my back end at a light. The tailgate hits the electric switch perfectly. as a construction equipment tech that fixes outdoor machines in cold wet weather, I see the flaw here in your design I added dielectric silicone to the switch as any moisture will short out the card. I siliconed the handle, switch exterior and filled in holes at camera ( the other Constant failure from water) now, the whole thing is sealed from elements like its supposed to be!! GM… add seals to these switches and cameras. Use outdoor potted switches of at least dielectric! You’re spending thousands on cameras and tailgate switches just because of improper sealant.
  13. Don't use the Google map icon. You must be signed in and have an account, pay them. Use Google maps from you're Android
  14. Multiple updates on infotainment system. ask for: #22-NA-142: Radio Software Version W164 – Multiple Updates - (Nov 9, 2023) Radio Software Version W164 – Multiple Updates THERE MAY BE EVEN MORE UPDATES
  15. I had the tailgate switch replaced in March for TSB. It failed again. This time my tailgate opened while towing. ARGH!!! The tailgate hits my power switch exactly, and forces the the power winch down while driving!! I could have lost the whole $50,000 trailer...or had a collision. The tailgate switch assembly has no gasket. so water pours in there and shorts out the switch and camera. Why they didn't put any seal there is beyond me. GM will just keep putting in expensive parts but not address the sealing issue. In Canada, there is a safety recall on this, over and above a TSB Safety Recall N232426400 has all trucks coming in for a new switch. This time, they will seal the handle assembly to prevent water intrusion. Notice when you wash the truck how water pours out the switch? As with most of these failures, lack of sealant or gasket causes headaches for all. Going in tomorrow for a new switch, before i go camping. Someone out there will have a serious accident towing something
  16. Try looking at this you are past warranty but they may help you Best to buy AllData DYI and look up issues before warranty runs out there are a few more TSB's #20-NA-166: Information on Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illuminated - DTCs P050D and/or P0300 Setting on a Cold Start and/or Engine Runs Rough when Warm with No Codes - (Mar 21, 2024) Subject: Information on Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illuminated – DTCs P050D and/or P0300 Setting on a Cold Start and/or Engine Runs Rough when Warm with no codes Code P050D Description During a cold start, the engine control module (ECM) commands dual-pulse mode during Open Loop operation to improve cold start emissions. In dual-pulse mode, the fuel injectors are energized twice during each injection event. As with misfire diagnosis, in dual-pulse mode the ECM monitors the crankshaft position sensor and the camshaft position sensor to calculate crankshaft rotation speed. In normal operation, optimum fuel delivery during dual-pulse mode produces a steady crankshaft rotation speed. If the variations of crankshaft rotation speed exceed a calibrated value, the code P050D will be set. Misfires on start up only, with high rates always on one cylinder, can be suspect for coolant entry at the liner to deck face casting or the casting line in the intake port of the cylinder head. To inspect for this concern, add coolant dye to the system, run the engine through warm up, pressurize the cooling system after warming the engine to operating temperature (let the engine cool overnight) and inspect the suspect cylinder with a borescope for coolant dye evidence. At times it may be necessary to remove the head for inspection. If the head casting line is the concern, the intake port will be wet with a coolant oil mix. This could be the cause of a running rough warm concern with or without codes. The location of where the coolant is running down in the port will also look washed down.
  17. 2 hours on the phone, yalked with a dozen different people...no help. I have to bring it to dealer. There are so many people to talk with each time you call ON Star. Each time you tell them you're issues, they pass you to another person. So much staff online, but no one can actually help. They could fix this if I start paying $17 each month again. I bought a truck with Apple play, but I cant use it without paying each month? We have the right to use our vehicle without PIN codes each time, or paying extra money per month. We should be able to simply take off from a parking spot without having to "gun it" because parking brake holds us back. We should be able to permanently cancel "auto off" without pushing that ****in button each time. Of course the dealer is booked up a month in advance so this will go in while i'm gone. I'll have all TSB;s taken care of, then trade in You can always get anyone to answer the GM phone lines, but no one has any technical capabilities. I feel bad for them...stuck fielding calls from upset customers. Too many Issues beyond their control. For me, That's just the electronic side....many people here with transmission or engine failures. Look at all these issues..I'm shocked at what other's are going through with these trucks. I'm lucky it's not major components leaving us stranded on road. No use complaining any more, just get rid of it and buy Mazda.
  18. Argh! We're going on an extended trip for winter, so I cancelled My Chev app. Now display wont open, no Apple play, no radio. It just says "Device is starting...." Called On Star 3 times and removed phone, re did password, re set....still no display after a week. Just want maps to work for one week but now we have nothin. Numerous issues with radio and warning lights, crash detection, parking brake. I just put up with them as dealer said my truck was not eligible for updates and did not exhibit symptoms while there. It's a safety hazard now, fiddling with dash while driving...no display, brakes stay on when you try to leave. I will take GM to small claims court to recover money spent on APP, safety issues, no starts. Complain to transport Canada, Then trade this POS in for a Mazda SUV. 7 Mazda's in family, no issues ever in last 25 years. Gotta stick with Quality
  19. Welcome to this forum. And you thought the dealer was full of pricks...
  20. Buy a 12 volt socket, leave it hang out near glove compartment or keep it inside fuse area. Pin 31 positive, get a good ground

  22. Add me to the list of no Back up cam in low light. Just brought my 22.5 with 5.3 into the dealer yesterday for a BCM update. It was a no start after key fob start. Bulletin 23-NA-023 Damn!
  23. Did you use remote start at all? My blower fan was stuck on. Had to disconnect battery to stop it.
