I have a 20' enclosed car hauler and it calibrated right up while driving the first mile or so. Double check your dimensions that you enter into the screen for that trailer. Based on the screen image, I think it uses the tailgate camera, not the bed roof camera.

Thanks! My translation of "No calibration required" is "No provisions for calibration provided". My dealer's Tech actually DID reprogram the module, as if a new module was installed, but there was no change at all. It is not doing any self calibration. The Tech told me that GM is downloading a fixed set of calibration numbers to the module and that's all that is used. Until GM updates those numbers, so that the Tech can download and install them, there is nothing he can do. I have seen brand new 2500HD trucks on the lot, with no miles on them yet, show the EXACT same misalignment on their cameras that I see on mine. I suspect that they have used a single set of calibration numbers and applied them across the line to all trucks, assuming that they would be "close enough". They are not. It's one thing for GM to screw up so badly and not provide any provision to calibrate... it's another thing to lie about it. BTW, for comparison, the camera on the back of my trailer self-calibrates and stitches into the truck's rear-facing cameras perfectly to provide the "invisible trailer view" in the truck.

Sadly, no! I brought it to the dealer. They could do nothing. I asked them to escalate it with Chevy. They did. The engineers asked them to collect some more info off of the truck. Heard nothing since. My expectations are very low. From the research I have done, it looks like GM bought this system from an outfit in Austria. I would be willing to bet that no one in GM actually KNOWS how to fix it. They bought a kit and installed it. It's not like they built it and understand how to program or reprogram it. From further testing, I have determined that it is actually the FRONT and REAR cameras that need to be recalibrated to match the side cameras. The side cameras are correct. They show the lines and the curbs correctly. The front/rear cameras show the lines or curbs actually further away from the truck than they really are. It's bad because you think you have more space than you really do. You end up hitting the curb with the wheel. File a complaint through your dealer. The more of us that do, the higher probability GM might actually look into it and talk to the vendor about it. I'm not holding my breath.

Well... stock factory tires. All stock. An error of 11% is kind of high to me. And of course it is an error to make the truck MPG look better than it really is. If the computer were reporting 11% lower than actual values, GM would demand their engineers fix it, to not make the truck look bad.

I assume these are the MPGs from the onboard computer. Have you run a few tank fulls and calculated the MPG yourself from miles between fill ups and gallons to refill the tank? My truck's computer is consistently 11% high on the reported MPG. When I calculate it myself, the number is quite lower. And it is consistently like this, on every fill up. I think GM is messing with us, trying to make us think the MPG is much better than it really is.

Only if you can find a 400W coffee maker. My wife's little Mr. Coffee draws 600W. This 400W outlet will recharge some cordless tool battery packs on the job. I use mine in the cab to recharge my laptop computer while driving between jobs. Pretty low watts makes it of low utility.

Is that per the truck computer? Or did you calculate it the old fashioned way with miles driven and gallons pumped in to fill it up again?

The scangauge is reading the data off of the GM computer. If the truck's computer is not capturing it correctly when it reports the MPG on the truck's display, won't the scan tool just be pulling the same faulty data? I was kind of shocked at the 11% error on my truck's computer. Maybe it's a bug just in the code for the year and engine I have. And, of course, it's high, making the trucks fuel economy appear better to the owner than it actually is. This, to me, is approaching fraud by GM. Dealer says there is nothing they can do to calibrate it. With all the electronic stuff crammed in the trucks today, everything with the dealer is a big ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . How convenient. I wonder if a class action lawsuit would wake someone up at GM to figure out how to fix it...

Have you verified those numbers against the old fashioned way of calculating MPG on a tank by tank basis (miles since last fill up, divided by gallons to refill tank)? Because when I do it the "old way", I find Chevy's computer reporting MPG is a whopping 11% higher than actual MPG. This is consistent over many tanks, not just a difference in how full the tank got this time, compared to the last time. YMMV.

So is the solution to block all OTA updates? I can delete my truck's login to my home WiFi and stop all of this nonsense.

Safelite was able to source for me an OEM windshield for my 2012 Ford F-150 when it cracked a few years ago. It cost me a little extra but was quite easy to request and get installed.

There will be no negative effect on the truck if you do not relearn the tire positions. If a tire goes low pressure and you get a warning, the truck may not actually tell you the correct tire position that is low because it did not learn the new location after you rotated them. So be prepared to be confused about which tire exactly is low. Other than that, no harm

The tire is changing the camera's field of view. Do you have a cover on the spare tire? What color is it? Look in the truck display with the spare mounted and see what the tire looks like compared to the ground. You might be able to trick the camera into ignoring the tire if you cover it with something that looks like the ground (light grey, black, etc.). Or space the camera mount out away from the rear wall of the trailer a few inches, so that the camera does not see the tire? Try tipping the camera angle up a bit?

Another example of cameras misaligned. I think the front and rear are pretty accurate. It is the side cameras that are way off. Can't these be corrected in software calibration?

So, what do you know about using software tools to calibrate the SIDE cameras on the truck (2022 Silverado 2500HD) so that the front, side and rear cameras all show lines that run along the side of the truck (like in a parking lot or the curb at the side of the street) that actually line up with each other? There should not be a big gap when a line switches from a front camera to a side camera. My Invisible Trailer works great.

Thank you, Phil! This is EXACTLY what I expected the Camera Calibration procedure to look like. I knew it could all be done in software. I have the extra camera on the back of my trailer. I set it all up and ran the Calibration steps for the trailer camera to work in "Invisible Trailer Mode". It calibrated right up and works great. So I KNEW that there had to be a similar calibration procedure for the built-in cameras. It is beyond the capability of my local dealer Tech, I guess. I have printed your article and will be stopping in to see the Service Advisor today.

I took my truck to my local Chevy Dealer. The single Tech they have there that is "trained" in "electronics" could not figure it out. He downloaded some software again into the truck (it took forever) and nothing changed. He tossed up his hands. From the research I have done, it looks like GM purchased this camera system as a package from some European company. If the system has some way to calibrate the cameras (I'm sure it does) it looks like GM has not given their Techs the ability to tap into it. Or else my local Tech was out sick or asleep on "Camera Calibration Day", so he does not know how to do it. This is pretty sorry. My wife's Toyota has the same sort of camera system and when you look at her "bird's eye view" display of her car, all of the lines match up exactly as they should. This strikes me as another example of GM taking a very simple, lazy approach to the vehicle. It does NOT meet my expectations for what was a very expensive purchase. Either they need to train their Techs better in the use of the tools, or they need to GIVE the Techs the tools. I am very disappointed in Chevy and GM over this. There is no excuse.

I was confused about all this when I first got my 2022. I went back and reread the Owner's Manual section about the parking brake and they describe all the ways it gets automatically set and released. I don't really like it. I have had situations where the truck sets the parking brake itself and then out of habit, I pressed the Park button (intending to set it) and unintentionally released it. Part of the problem is having the same press-in button being used to set AND release the Parking brake. That's a very bad design. There should be a switch or lever that has an ON and an OFF direction that is not the same. So if the truck turns it ON and I press the switch in the ON direction again, it stays ON (instead of releasing). I doubt any GM design engineers read all this stuff here, but they should change it. I predict they change it AFTER they lose a big lawsuit where the victim proves their faulty design caused a serious accident.

Not for the same reason as OP, but I moved from F250 (after 30 years of Fords) to Silverado 2500HD High Country because the new F250 seats were totally uncomfortable for me. They do not fit my tall (6'6") frame. The head rests push my shoulders forward to the point that I was hunched over while driving. The Chevy seats fit me better. I've been very pleased with the power, the technology (love the integrated trailer camera), the ride. Towing my very heavy (when loaded) 20' trailer is great. Not impressed with the way the front/back cameras don't align with the side cameras and (apparently) no way to calibrate them in software so that they all line up. That's dumb.

@GMCustomerService people used to participate in this Forum and step in when a new owner had such a horrible first experience. Last seen July 20. On vacation?

I have this same problem with my 2022. There is a huge disconnect between the side camera views and the front & back looking cameras. There is no excuse for this, the images can easily be aligned with calibration in software, either manually or automatically. We just need to know how to start the calibration process.

GM Customer Service- Is it possible to get the side cameras on my 2022 Silverado 2500HD calibrated so that they line up with the front and rear cameras? When parking along a curb, the edge of the driveway, or beside a painted line, the line or edge that I see in the side cameras is about a foot closer to the truck than the same line or edge seen in the cameras that face forward and rearward. This makes the cameras pretty low utility. See photos below. My local dealer says he tried and could not improve it. Is there a super-tech place that knows more of the details of how these things work? Thanks!

I've looked around the Forum and cannot find this discussed. Apologies if I missed it. On my 2022 Silverado 2500HD: When I have the forward-looking or rear-looking camera on, the "birds eye view" composite picture of the truck shows the lines or the edge of the driveway on the right and/or left of the truck with the segment next to the truck out of alignment relative to the lines ahead and behind the truck. See photos. Has anyone figured out (or had their dealer figure out) how to calibrate the side cameras to line up with the front and rear cameras? It seems like it should be a pretty simple adjustment, either through software calibration or hardware adjustment (move the camera's aim and lock down with a little set screw). My dealer tech has not been able to do anything to improve it. Thanks!
