On my 10L80 the bypass is external and on the passenger side of the trans. I'm thinking yours should be the same as the 3.0 because the trans is exactly the same. If you crawl under and take a look you will see the lines (3 of them) on the TBV. Can you take a look ans see?
I have a slight vib/rattle to the right of center dash. It only does it just coming off idle and only when it's first started. After about 3 to 5 minutes it goes away. Idle no rattle, light throttle input rattle, RPM goes above 1000 and it's goes away. I don't get the vibration on deceleration passing said RPM range only when accelerating. Makes me wonder if it's exhaust related and once heated tolerances change enough to make it go away.
I think GM is trying to keep owners from using the "parking pawl" in the transmission to hold the vehicle in place on anything other then flat ground. I have noticed the same thing. If the ground if flat it won't engage, park on a hill and it will. Also, I noticed if you're stopped at a light you can press the park button and then you can take your foot off the brake. The truck will stay in place and all you need to do is touch the go pedal and it will turn off the parking brake and you're off.
yup that .1 mpg for the charging algorithm as well. Burn $2 less fuel over 100K miles but toss more batteries in the trash. Oh it's a real green decision.
