  1. It's entirely possible you're still dealing with a tire issue. I went through this a few years back with an F150. Smooth as glass on factory tires, then shook like you describe at 70 after getting them replaced with Goodyears. Balanced, re-balanced on the road force machine and still did it. Warrantied the set and those shook. Warrantied again and switched to Coopers and those shook again! Had those tires road-force balanced at another shop and that finally fixed it. It was implied the previous shop had a tire balancing machine that was out of calibration.
  2. These motors make a lot of strange noises is my experience. Hopefully your issue isn't a big deal and they don't have to tear it all apart. Your video is 100% the intermittent cracking noise I've heard with all 3 of our vehicles though. Like I said my 23 5.3 made that noise most every day until I traded it at 31K miles and the 24 I replaced it with quietened down to a gentle purr by 15k miles and makes NO unusual noises now, aside from what I describe below. The 24 also had a cold misfire/shake for the first few thousand miles that eventually went away and never came back. The Yukon idles fine just makes that stupid noise that's especially audible in a drive through. It doesn't get anywhere near as many miles as the truck though so that could be why it still does it. I think I've also heard the other noise you're describing but not totally sure. I've had a rattly, marbles in a can type noise easing back into the throttle from a slow coast (25mph or so) I can sometimes hear with the windows down. Impossible to tell if it's engine or transmission because it sort of sounds like a pump experiencing cavitation too. Who knows. All 3 do/did it.
  3. I recognize that noise. My 23 did it, my 24 did it until around 15k miles then stopped, and my wife's 24 Yukon does the exact same thing and hasn't stopped. Sometimes it does it cold, sometimes it does it hot. Never in time with the engine just very intermittent. I've heard it after driving on the interstate for an hour or warming up in the driveway. I've wondered if it's the exhaust manifold or heat shields being affected by heat because it's not a lifter. It's a very hollow sounding almost crack noise, not a knock.
  4. Ford's King Ranch/Platinum/Limited trims are fairly well regarded. GM for whatever reason moved the new trucks to what are effectively mid-size seats in 2019. The only way to get a "full size" seat is to get an Escalade. Those are 2 or so inches wider and about an inch longer in the cushion. They're also much softer yet still supportive. Ford and Ram both utilize larger seats in all trims than GM. We have a travelling salesman that comes by every now and then and he's switched both front seats of his LT trim Silverado to black leather Escalade seats. He said they fit fine and all he had to do was swap his complete seat harness and airbag into the new seats. It's a refresh so a 22 or 23.
  5. Interesting thanks. Would’ve sworn it was a build option to have KSG without UPN. That said if all it needs is the radar that’s about a two hour job to pull the bumper to add it and run a 4 conductor cable to either a body harness plug or straight to the image processing module or whatever GM calls it now. Assuming one has access to an MDI2 or equivalent to initialize and then calibrate the module it doesn’t sound totally different than what the ford folks do adding adaptive cruise to their various platforms.
  6. So I never updated this with all the hassle of vacation and dealing with the dealer. A new transfer case was put in the truck and all has been well since then aside from the transmission mount bolts not being fully tight and causing a vibration when cylinder deactivation kicked in. One last parting gift from the knuckleheads in the service department I guess. GM rep was kind and seemed to take our side since I'm assuming they have logs that would tell them it wasn't shifted into 4x4 at highway speed like was suggested.
  7. So in theory since adaptive cruise is camera-controlled in these trucks it could be activated with the programming tool? I wouldn't put it past GM to keep it software locked to sell more $70K trucks since it's almost impossible to get on a $60K truck. Sure seems the hardware is there based on the upfitter manual. Not talking about supercruise with the fancy radars, just basic stop and go adaptive cruise.
  8. Thank you all for the reassurance. This is my first full size truck coming from a Tacoma and first time ever dealing with GM warranty. Hope to hear something on Monday and then go from there.
  9. The transfer case was in 2H. It’s grinding because there’s “a capful” of fluid and metal in it from all leaking out. The original dealer that gave me the BS was able to get a tech to look at it first thing before telling me checking fluid is part of maintenance but again the truck is new. I can understand checking the engine oil but transfer case fluid is nonsense. I did not think to originally call GM. It’s getting moved to another dealer here in Orlando this afternoon but they are making no promises to get to it before next week. The picture shown is where the fluid is leaking from. Right where it mounts to the transmission.
  10. Brand new 23 1500 Z71 currently at the dealer with a grinding transfer case while on vacation. Truck is just under 4000 miles and dealer is saying it barely had any fluid and won’t be covered for lack of maintenance. I asked where it says in the manual I’m supposed to stop every 50 miles and check fluid levels in a new truck and the service writer got smart with me. I saw fluid covering the underside of the truck when we stopped to check the noise but there was no way I was going to spend the night at a gas station in BFE with my family and continued on to the hotel since it was so late. The actual leak looks to be coming from where the case mounts to the transmission at that gasket. Will any 2 speed transfer case from 2019 and newer fit or does it specifically have to be fit a 10 speed transmission? If I can find one a local mechanic said he can get it replaced in two days. What a HUGE POS!!!!!
