Thank God I still have my 1975 square body. SO EASY to work on. The new ones? um no. You can't do anything to them except change oil, oil filter, cabin filter, air filter,........and that's about it. They don't want a guy to be "back yard" mechanics anymore. That old 350 in my square body 'told' me everything just by the sound of it. It was TOO GOOD. That's why you still see lots of 'em on the road - RUST and all !! Sucks fuel like a MF - 10 mpg loaded or empty . and EATS spark plugs but is dependable. I trust it MORE than my 2020. If my 2020 dies on the highway, it's tow truck time. I carry a spare mechanical fuel pump, an electronic control module for the HEI and some basic hand tools in the OLD Chevy. And glad I did. BOTH of those items failed, at different times but it was a very rare occurrence, if they did fail. Only happened once on both items. 10 minutes later - back on the road. You could easily get over 100,000 miles out of an old 350 if you treated it right. Oil changes etc. Easy.
