  1. I suppose the level plug in the pan in sufficient. I would rather not get the creeper out and roll under the truck each time to check fluid. I'd rather have the capability in the engine bay when I am checking the other fluid levels/conditions.

  2. Any quality oil is fine, but I don't think I could find a reason to NOT run a Dexos oil with the ease of availability,and basically same price as any other synthetic.

  3. I have used AMSOIL for over 40 yrs in every new GM vehicle I have owned. Its in my 2024 Sierra Denali 3.0L (LZ0). You ARE NOT required to use dexos licensed oil. Only oil the MEETS the spec's and if it says so on the bottle then its true. I have never had to add oil when using AMSOIL. It typically has a much lower volatility rate. I have even had the dealer install my AMSOIL for the free new vehicle oil change and looked the other way when he charged GM for the oil he did not use. I demanded the empty bottles back as proof the used my oil.

  4. Installed the PPE transmission pan today when changing fluid and filter. Pretty nice piece. Although the gasket they supply is laughable compared to the factory gasket. I cleaned and reused the factory gasket. For the cost, supplying the factory gasket (or gasket of similar quality) would be prudent. I did not replace the filter seal, mainly due being uncertain how to effectively get a tool up there without damaging machined surface. If I wasn't laying on my back doing the installation, I may have tackled it. I also purchased their thermal bypass as well and installed it. Pretty straightforward install. I like that is has a magnetic trap that can be periodically removed and cleaned. I also installed the dipstick in the transmission as well. Finally, a suitable setup and am very happy to be able to easily check the fluid level and condition.   5. Yes, done completely under warranty, zero cost to me. The power train warranty is 5 years/60K miles, whichever comes first. Unfortunately, it took over a month for mine to get fixed due to a shortage of valve bodies. But that was about 16 months ago, I suspect the shortage has probably been resolved. Mostly. The actual time to replace the VB is only a few hours. I didn't need a rental as I still had my car.

  6. Dumb question, have you manually folded the mirror by hand to see if that "resets" it? Or listened to the mirror when trying to fold it to see if you hear anything working, by trying the switch on the driver's door panel with the passenger's side window down?

  7. After I replaced my leaking valve cover gaskets, it took a while for the residual oil to burn off of the exhaust manifolds.

I would suggest: -changing the fluid, just to get the sparkly bits out, might make what's still good a little happier and less likely to catastropically fail -hit a junkyard and get the same TC from a truck there, or buy a used one, then swap it in when you have some time. You might, if you want, put in bearings/seals and a pump rub kit (cheap pressed metal plate is fine for fixing this problem). It's fairly straightforward to do, and doesn't need a lot of special tools. You can find youtube video's on doing it, to see if it's in your wheelhouse, if you want. And if you are going to do the swap yourself, do not do it by yourself. The TC is an awkward shape, and doesn't like staying on a transmission jack, and it needs to be both tilted front to back, and rotated to get it in out. It is super easy for it to fall off the jack, and it will mess you up if it does.

  9. To provide you all with a resolution, my truck was fully repaired under warranty. All the clutches in the transmission were burnt, as well as a bunch of other damage, they replaced those, the pump, the torque converter, and other parts, flushed everything out, and I'm back in action. Truck runs great and I have a 12 month/12k mile warranty on the work. Thank you to @GMCustomerService for advocating on my behalf in this situation as well. It took a while (5 weeks!) but it was done right.
