  1. Friend works for a technical research university that has winter driving school and GM had donated a Sierra Denali to the school. They had to eliminate the AWD system so they had to replace the transfer case and lots of other parts. The AWD uses a Borg-Warner TC. I recall him saying it was a pita job but they had engineers that could do the job. Btw, the Denali did not have a VIN so it have to destroy the vehicle when they were done with it. GM's way of making sure the vehicle did not end in the wrong hands.
  2. https://www.chevrolet.com/ownercenter/recalls 2020 GMC Sierra LD Crew SLT/Elevation-T1 VIN: 3GTP8DET0LG444836 Recalls Recalls and/or programs for your vehicle in which repairs have not been completed are listed below. GM provides information on this website for recalls announced on or after August 20, 1999. This information is available for vehicle in which repairs have not been completed. No Incomplete Recalls NOTE - Not all repair shop/Dealers reports to Carfax
  3. Had brakes put on a 1999 Sierra once at local small town GMC shop. The new pads were squealing a lot so I went back and complained. Found out parts guy (slip of the tongue) they installed local parts store junk. Never told me that and when I checked my bill it listed GM part numbers and what I assumed was GM prices. I think they realized it was a problem because they had order the GM rotors and pads and never changed me a dime. New brakes did no squeal. btw-That dealer is out of business today.
  4. Dealer oil changes are a marketing ploy. You hang out in the showrooms, wander the lots and look at the new trucks/autos all the while the service dept. looks for something they can up-sell to the customer. GM dealers call it a multi-point inspection. They have a vested interest in having you come back again and again and again. Think about it, how many want you to keep driving your vehicle? You are the only one; the dealers want to sell you a new truck and every time you are there, they get another chance.
  5. I would seriously look at the tire/wheel assembly and associated parts that hit the pot-hole. Take it to the GM dealer, warranty might get involved.
  6. Some truck configurations are no longer available for MY26 ordering: Chevrolet Silverado LD Double Cab — Closed GMC Sierra LD Double Cab — Closed Both double cab configurations will be unavailable for approximately 13 months due to plant retooling. Fleets requiring these models will need to consider alternative configurations or model strategies. Cut-Off: March 27, 2026 Brand Model Important Note Cadillac Lyriq EV model Cadillac CT4 Sedan Chevrolet Silverado LD Regular Cab 8–9 month plant retooling gap expected GMC Sierra LD Regular Cab 8–9 month plant retooling gap expected
  7. I have owned many GM 4wd vehicles dating back to the 1980's and driven all the big 3 brands at work (GPS Survey team). Granted I live in upper Michigan where its winter (300+ inches of snowfall this past winter) from Nov-April (+-) but other than having it in AUTO 4wd then, I never excise it when I don't need it. Never an 4wd issue ever. Btw, according to a fiend who is GM tech, 99% of 4wd issues he encounters are attributed to oversize tires. Now if you are one who has a 4wd just for a status symbol (many do) and really never use it then it might be a good idea to do that occasionally just to make sure you know how to use it. LOL.
  8. The problem for Gr III Base oils ---------------->https://www.gasworld.com/story/shell-expects-year-long-outage-at-damaged-qatar-lng-train/2251101.article/
  9. As for the step bars, friend did just that, bought some cheap ones and we are in Michigan and they turned to rust in less than a year. In 3 yrs he had to replace one of them because they rusted out from the inside even though he kept after them cleaning and polishing etc. Had to drive 300 miles (to Chicago area) to find a reg cab wt, he ordered one and dealer never got it and with winter approaching (plow truck) he needed fo find one ASAP. Furd dealer found him one but he choose to drive to get a GMC. Just what you can expect with cheap stuff, LOW quality.
  10. Have you updated the phone version? I had that issue when I first got truck and updating the phone fixed that.
  11. 55 with 30 yrs.
  12. No, that's Dexron HP. You need Dexron VI spec. LV stands for "Low Viscosity" Dexron VI - 4sp, 6sp and Transfer Case Dexron LV - 8-sp (Low Viscosity) Dexron ULV - 10-sp (Ultra Low Viscosity)
  13. For every make and model there is, there are owners who will say the same thing, never again. Sometimes the grass is not any greener on the other side of the fence. Never really had a bad GM vehicle in the last 56+ yrs......................
  14. Trouble is that anything on the net is subject to skepticism. More fake news than real news. Also a possible reason could be to spur panic buying to line pockets? Like the Covid toilet paper fiasco. Friend says he now has a supply for life after that. Also the 2000 scare where people were buying generators because they were predicating power plants were going to go down. Lots of people with generators they have no use for now. LOL
  15. Its the OEM dealer, what do you expect? Discount Prices? That's almost exactly what I paid on my 2021 Sierra Denali. Other shops were somewhat cheaper, those that would put estimate in writing. But they did not leave a sense of competence in my view and did not use GM parts, whatever was locally available at parts store. Did not like that feeling so I paid the GM price, which included a loaner for the day that other shops would not. btw - Mine rotors were all corroded from road salt and I was 3 months past the bumper-bumper warranty so they could not get it covered by warranty.
  16. Seats are a personal choice when it comes to whats comfortable or not. Seats are like clothes, some just fit better that others. Its like when I was looking for a new recliner for home, I must have sat in over a dozen in 3 different stores and several brands before I found the one the was the most comfortable to me and bought it.
  17. You have better chances of picking winning lottery numbers than to know for sure when your vehicle will ship. When you combine the QC issues with geographical delivery of vehicles (at the lowest possible cost so they need to aggregate deliveries - and they don't not use a first in first out methodology), this can be the most frustrating part of the whole journey. There is no transparency to actual data. Your vehicle may ship quickly, it may not. It will likely take longer the more rural you are and the lower the volume of cars your dealer sells.
  18. May 18th is the target production week (TPW) it is scheduled for production, not a individual day.
  19. I can't believe a dealer person would BS me. I never got anything about the cover warranty with the purchase. I just looked in the truck and nothing there, unless they will handle it for the customer.
  20. GM Accessory Tro-fold by REV. Ordered it with the truck so it would be covered by the Bumper to Bumper warranty and also because I have had it on my last 2 trucks (2017 & 2021) and 100% satisfied with looks and functionality. It has survived harsh Michigan winters and always looks new. With the GM ones, if dealer installs at time of sale, covered by B-B warranty, if you install, not covered by GM but the cover maker (REV) warranty applies. Pic of cover in da 2024...
