  1. $600 IMO is a big rip-off. Easy job, akin to changing oil. Remove drain plug, drain. Put plug back in and add 1.6 qts dexron VI atf.
  2. Business associate locally will not take in used tires for resale. He destroys them if they can possibly be reused. Liability concerns with used tires. He mentioned a big loss when he sold some used tires to a lady with a older Camaro and one of the tires failed within 50 miles and he spent a lot of money defending the shop but lost and had to pay for vehicle damage, towing and 4 new tires. New tires carry oem warranty, used tires the seller accepts liability.
  3. Those are test mules and are not the final production version.

  5. Planned obsolescence is the practice of designing or programming a product with a shortened lifespan to deliberately increase consumption and profit by encouraging consumers to replace it sooner. With the bean counters firmly in charge, carmakers, and much of American industry, lost their single-minded focus on product excellence and their competitive advantage.
  6. No. Red Line sold out to Conoco/Phillips. AMSOIL is one of last few independent privately owned synthetic oil companies left. The rest were lured by easy $ to sell out, Royal Purple, Red Line, etc I used AMSOIL since circa 1976 Watch this some blather at the start but it gets interesting in few minutes..
  7. More $ wasted chasing a dream. You are still pushing 2.5 tons of steel down the road. Put the truck back to 100% stock if you really want to keep it, but spending money to get better mileage is a pipe dream. Spend 100's to save pennies.
  8. Longevity is a function of individual ownership of the vehicle. Some can get many years of useful life while others can make it junk in a few years.
  9. When does this become an "exercise in futility"?
  10. I read the diesel supplement and there is nothing that says not let it finish is a bad thing. All it says is to avoid extended idling because the DPF is not capable of cleaning at idle. And it will regen approx every tank of fuel. So for me its roughly 650-700 miles on a tank of fuel, so its occurred about 7x on my truck and I was not aware of it. Its also possible since I am using a additive+cetane boost my engine is running more efficiently? People make up things to worry about.
  11. I have had my 2024 LZ0 for over a year and I cannot tell you when or how many regen events occurred. Maybe its just me and over 50+ yrs of driving that things like this are not a big deal; as long as it starts, gets me where I need to go and back, I am happy.
  12. Unfortunately the internet is full of bogus news..
  13. I got over 40,000 + on these tires on my 2021. Traded in last fall and the appraiser at the GMC dealer commented, tires look real good. He made a point of wanting to see the tires as they are a big expense if they have to replace 22's. My 2024 has same tires, came with the LPO optioned wheels. I would not want anything else, they never let me down. Rotate every 7,500 miles..........
  14. Mine does it too. Can't please everyone, what bothers you, pleases others.
  15. Lots of fleets buy on spec and the lowest cost, and often $1 decides the winning bid.
  16. I had a new 1970 Chevelle SS454 (LS5) and on the chrome valve cover was this decal.
  17. Some will find anything to complain about. Does not bother me one bit.
  18. My brother's been driving a 2025 Sierra SLT CC 6.2L since last fall and its going strong. I don't believe rumors that cranks made at Tonawanda are just as bad. If that was the case, all the Vette engines, 6.6L and 5.3L cranks they produce would be bad. That BS is from people with an axe to grind with GM so they make stuff up. GM was doing everything to reduce the US workforce so the contracted out to foreign companies and it came back in bit in the you know what.
  19. According to internet gossip they 6.2L issue revolved around crankshafts that were OUT-SOURCED to a supplier in Mexico, to save $$. Since mid 2024 production shifted back to the GM engine plant in Tonawanda, NY.
  20. Open the door, sit facing out and pull it back against your knees then grab top of door frame (window up) and pull towards you a wee bit at a time. I seen a body tech do that once for door wind noise, worked.
  21. Article showing pics said truck waiting for semi-conducters. https://www.mlive.com/news/flint/2021/09/as-gm-waits-for-semiconductors-nearly-completed-flint-trucks-pile-up-in-vacant-field.html
  22. Disappeared while it was out to be repaired? Friends nephew was a body man in a Chevy dealers shop and did a lot of repairs on vehicles "damaged in transit'.
  23. like this pic around Flint new trucks.avif
  24. Might have been damaged?
