I just dropped my truck off at the dealer for an oil change and for them to address the antilock brake recall. I also noted that the parking brake is coming on by itself for no reason. The service guy noted "That's the first time I've ever heard of that." I told him it was all over the forums. I'll let everyone know what they say. I remember in my 2002 Silverado, I had an issue where I would hit the brakes and before I came to a stop, occasionally the brakes would "release" a bit and I would end up going 5 ft further before stopping. I complained to the service guy and he noted that he didn't know anything about that...and its probably because of my over sized tires (they were 1" taller than stock?). It kept happening and I kept going back in complaining that I was going to get in a wreck because of the issue. He would check the truck out and say nothing was wrong. Then I finally get a recall notice for antilock brake component malfunction. I guess I knew what I was talking about after all but it took a year of complaining. I hope its not another situation like that.

Has anyone found any custom molded rubber inserts for the center console side storage on the 2019+? I see that full insert kits are sold on amazon for every storage area but it seems to lack the inserts for the side storage on the center console for bucket seats. Ironically, those are the only inserts I need out of all of them. Cup Holder Hero is the brand that is sold on Amazon...it just seems like they don't have anything for the 2019+ with bucket seats.

My parking brake on my 2019 RST has a mind of its own. I've noticed it can be parked in the garage for 3 days and all I have to do is open the rear crew cab door and the parking brake turns on by itself and engages. I can't for the life of me figure why that happens. I will ask them about it at my first oil change. So have we decided that this is a recall issue or not? Has anyone taken their new vehicle in and had the dealer fix this parking brake issue? I have this recall bulletin but I'm not sure it's the same issue.

Strange Password Request?
Codeman00 replied to Ezekiel2517's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
Well, I'm not the only one that this was happening to. The first thing I thought was....which password does it want? I reset my passwords on the computer and was able to enter the password to get the message to go away. Hopefully it stays away. I'm not sure what caused this all of a sudden. -
That camera install is pretty amazing! unfortunately, I'll never be able to take that plug out again due to the bad shape it's in from it being unnecessarily glued to the roof of the cab.

The mirror powers up when the truck is turned on. I verified this buy when I first hooked up the new mirror, nothing happened until I started the truck....only then could see the mirror dim. I can't 100% confirm though that one of the pins isn't all time hot though...I just know the mirror doesn't power on until the truck is started.

Bass reduction on Bose door speakers
Codeman00 replied to Mountain boy's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
Mountain Boy...I'd like to also do this mod since I'm an audiophile with a normal stock stereo system for the first time ever.... I just want mine to sound better without adding a sub, etc. Would you be able to take some photos of exactly where you spliced into the wires? -
Yes it comes with the wire connector and it’s plug and play. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This is good to know. It’s unfortunately a bit too late since I’ve already ordered though. I personally don’t trust myself to spend the time doing the perfect prep and paint on all 4 calipers and letting them all dry the proper time, etc. I’m sure when I was younger it would have been different. I honestly don’t think enough of the caliper shows with the stock RST wheels that they will be seen as easy as they would with some of the open custom wheels. I guess I can take them off and sell them if I don’t like them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The MGP caliper covers are actually powder coated aluminum, not plastic. They are $250. That being said I ordered them red and custom with the Z71 logo in black. I’ll post pics after I install them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’m trying to decide whether I should paint the current stock calipers or go with the red covers for my black RST. Does anyone have any photos of stock wheels with painted calipers or caliper covers?

There was nothing gentle about the squeeze. I grabbed it and squeezed it firmly, rocked it back and forth to remove it. It took some force. Do not try to remove the small piece...remove it as a set. I personally would detach the on star panel and make sure you can free the plug /harness before you remove the mirror. Just to make sure you don’t run into the excess glue problem like I did. Try heating with a hair dryer and see if that helps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I went with Black w/ Red Outlined Tailgate decals for my Black RST. (A friend at work did all red letters and I wanted to do something different since our trucks are almost identical) I think it's much better than stock but more subtle than all red.

I will have to say I'm loving the auto dimming mirror. It's just like my 2013 Silverado... I didn't appreciate getting blinded and then flipping the tab only to not be able to see anything. I'm happy I made the mod even though it was hell. (I wonder if heating up the glue/connector with a hair dryer would have helped?)

I'm not sure why GM used such a tall antenna to begin with. It seems like everyone that owns a 2019 has a problem with it violently hitting the garage door with entering. I bought the 22" model on amazon and it clears the garage door and I haven't been able to tell a difference in picking up stations. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SLMH18S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I just installed the new plug and play auto dimming mirror.... Ugh...that was not a 20 minute install. My biggest issue was the amount of glue used to hold the hidden harness plug. Wow, that sucker was stuck and glue was actually in the pin holes. 90 minutes, a couple of cuts on my hands, and some divine intervention (blind luck) at the end carried me through the project... My tips.... To take the large panel off of the mirror base, just grab it, squeeze and pull. It pops right off. You can remove the mirror screw and the mirror at that point and get it out of your way....and then detach the small panel. NOTE that attaching the new mirror/panel is NOT the reverse order of removal. More on that later. I have no idea how to separate the small and large panels without severely disfiguring the tabs.... The screws that hold the onstar/light panel are T10 and T15. (not T9) I didn't need any special hot glue or magnetic driver. That part was easy in my opinion. The tough part was the connector glued down. I cut around the glue as much as I could with a small screw driver. I tried to use and exacto blade but it was too flimsy and one slip could cut wires. I used the above member's method of cutting the glue back and grabbing the connector with a pair of pliers. Well, I first cracked the connector slighty. I tried again to remove more glue and tried again...after the 3rd try I was finally able to detach the connector. Unfortunately one side of the connector remained attached and now the connector was broken.? So BE CAREFUL grabbing the connector with a pair of pliers to break it free. There was one female terminal on the outside that was now not being held in well. The white part fell off and I took that opportunity to clean the glue out of holes. That part crumbled into 3 pieces easily so now there was nothing to hold the outer terminal or nothing to snap the connector in place. Somehow, someway, I was able to insert the two white pieces and press the free terminal in enough and plug it all in!! I honestly didn't think that last terminal would plug in, but it did....and I'm so lucky. NOTE: The small and large panels around the NEW mirror need to assembled AFTER the mirror is plugged in and the mirror screw is torqued. It can't be pre-assembled like when you removed it due to the mirror mount difference. Mount the mirror and then reassemble the small and large panel around the mirror shaft and snap them together. Some fun pictures for you all. May you not have as much glue as I did and then maybe this would be an easy 20 min job.

Glad to hear it won’t affect the safety system. I didn’t think it would, but better to check first. I’m curious too about a work around for adding the lighted visors. Maybe I should make a new thread for that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This is interesting. I have an RST with the Safety 1 Package. I plan to install the auto dimming mirror...I hope it doesn’t mess anything up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
