  1. Ill be honest this motor kind of sucks. Its ok for daily driving and thats why I got it. But it screams to get up to speed. Good luck empty passing somebody if your going 55-60 as it wont really move. Truck is really only good in initial start up to to 30-40mph after that its a dog. Like I said if you really dont need a 3/4 ton I would go half ton, better gas, better performance and driving experience. 5-6k in towing or less dont bother with a gas 3/4.
  2. Truck has a production week not day really. the 3800 Build/event code is the code that says the vehicle if officially built. Dealer should be able to find you that
  3. You can change tires and maybe even shocks but a 2500 is a 2500 and will not ride as nice as a 1500. The AT4, Z71 off road packages are just stickers these days. They put rancho shocks on them which are little stiffer. But I could put you in an AT4 and a non AT4 without badging and I would doubt you could tell the difference. These all terrain advertising on trucks is way over blown these days.
  4. I get it. Just comparing oranges to oranges. Comparing an LTZ to a 2500 custom isnt really apples to apples. Owning two 3.5 ecos I can tell you, you would be more than happy towing a boat that small. End of the day if your comparing like trim levels of a 2500 to a 1500 the cost isn't worth talking about. And you do get more with the 2500 in terms of hauling. Although the half ton is just easier all around the engine doesnt dog in mid range
  5. Lucky you just traded in a 2021 2500 diesel for a 2022 2500 gasser. Let me say this before anything else, the gas motor is not even a comparison to the diesel when towing, NOT EVEN CLOSE!!! Question is do you need it. Diesel got about 2 mpg better in all around and 4-5mpg better when towing my loads which were around 7-9k. I could literally accelerate going 75 up to 85 rather quickly, not doing that with the gasser with that kind of weight. Diesel will also hold its value and that 10k upcharge you will get a good portion back. Even though the diesel got better MPG paying 1.50-2 bucks less a gallon still made the gas motor cheaper Again the question is do you need it. my personal opinion get up over 9-10k yes I would do a diesel, 40-50% or more of your driving is towing, yes get a diesel. Now reasons to not get a diesel -cost 10k more -maint cost more and and more of it -oddly enough hard to find diesel at times specially in cities -Need more odds and ends stuff, like fuel filters and DEF(which I didnt find to be a big deal as it was 3-4 times a year) If your only driving 54k miles in 5-6 years Im going to blow this up and tell you to buy a half ton. 6k for a half ton is more than capable on a periodic basis. Half ton rides better, cheaper to buy and run. I would point you to a getting the HD packages that some manufactures offer in the half tons. Personally Id only buy an F150 3.5 ecoboost, outhaul any half ton out there. TBH with you I needed a heavy duty truck but paying for diesel just adds up and really justifiable for the amount I used. After owning the 6.6 gasser it gets the job but the motor kind of sucks on the other hand. Dogs while towing, mid range sucks on the thing, good luck passing anybody going 50-60mph, GM screwed up and put a garbage trans in it or something. Unless you have dreams of towing big in the future, do yourself a favor and go buy yourself a nice half ton.
  6. Never buy an extended warranty up front biggest dumbest thing you can do. I am sure there will be some guy that comes along with i just spent 80 and wanted piece of mind bologna. With that said you can get the same GM extended warranty down the road after your factory is up. By then you can figure out if you need and or if you still have the truck.
  7. I take a leaf blower to the front end of the truck and that works good, actually do the whole truck. Again probably the worst vehicle I have ever had in regards to holding water
  8. Kind of just did the same tow a 7-8k boat 3 months of the year and periodic heavy loads the etc cost of the diesel just wasnt worth it anymore, plus knocking 10k off the price allowed me to get a better truck. With that said be ready the gas motor is not even close to a diesel. It does the job thats all I can say. And if I towed 5k or less and it was periodic I would really think about a half ton, motor performance will be the same as 2500 and new half tons in the last 10 years are a world apart from where they were.
  9. Good points the music has to stop at some point. And a lot of folks who bought at MSRP or even more so if they paid above MSRP, are going to get hosed specially on trucks that are in the 2-4 year old zone at trade or selling time. I dont see prices staying high, GM has an interest in selling trucks not feeding dealers wallets. GM uses allocations to push dealers, those that dont sell wont get them. Its a self correcting system in a way, the issue as we all know right now is GM just can not make enough. Trades are already diving, but not at huge rate, and they wont level out until there are- more new trucks on the lot then used. With that said we are seeing some leveling, and we will never go back to pre covid. But some resemblance of normalcy is probably the very least 6 months out, but most likely is 12-18 months away.
  10. not necessarily true. They typically use the same harness in all the trucks, cheaper and easier to use one harness then make multiples.
  11. In the past and I think it still holds true is all the wiring is there just like most things. The issue is on the door arm rest wil need the control or buttons which will still fit there. The bigger issue right now is will the chips issues affect it? In the past guys were doing this all the time, buy a stripped version and then a year down the road getting the parts and putting them in. I was taking Ford XLTs in the past and for pennies on the dollar added things like automatic lights, fog lights etc. Manufactures started getting wise to this and requiring an ECM reflash at a dealer, which some peoples dealers just do it or some were charging $100-$200 to do it
  12. 23 is the same as the 22 except for the added cost. Typically once the new model is out the old ones get discounted but it doesnt look that way. So really once you buy a 22 you devalued yourself because it has to be worth less than a 23. 24 is supposed to be a refresh, but we will see. If I didnt get the GM discount at this point unless I needed it bad, I would probably wait till 24, but then again the way things have been over the last 2-3 years, could be worse. Best case though is a 24 will go up another 2500-3k and you will be paying 5-7k for the same truck in 24 vs a 22. How much weight you towing and how far? I had a 21 diesel and now the 22 gas, and no guys are right its not even close when hauling the gas engine is what it is. Not towing they are about the same, Id say the gas is better in the low ranges where the diesel is better in the mid ranges, gas motor kind of sucks in the mid ranges to be honest. But for me hauling a boat 10 times a year and some things here and there it just wasnt worth the added cost. I also thought about dropping down to a custom or something like that, but you take huge hits on trade on those and Im not a bells and whistles guy but to still spend big money and not get a lot of stuff bothers me.
  13. Put the new wheels and tires on, definitely was the tires
  14. They are out there if you call and want to drive. Had an order in for 7 months with my local, called around and fell into exactly what I wanted shy of wheel option 3 hours away. Start to finish waited three weeks
  15. See I wonder how that will pan out. Believe most trucks just went up around 2500 bucks for yearly hike and then the onstar bit being added for another 1500. Have a feeling people will be paying for onstar
  16. Hauled the boat yesterday, so probably talking 7-8k lbs. Truck worked great, for those wondering between the diesel and gas motor, not even in the same ball park. But that was expected by me and I am ok with it, with the amount of towing I do. Truck still weaves and feels floaty to me, check the suspension and nothing sticks out, kind of have a feeling its the tires. Will report back when I swap them out
  17. Like to give reviews for perspective buyers. Keep in mind I love the truck but I tend to focus on the things that need improvement or need work vs just giving all good things. With that said I traded in a 2021 2500 Silverado LT diesel which was a higher end LT. End of the day these trucks are very similar and not a lot of difference short of power train. Take it for what it is. I purchased a 2022 GMC AT4 2500 Gasser, preferred package -Should have bought a GMC back in 21, the fit and finish of the exterior is just better then silverado, the silverados are kind of ugly with that chrome grill and wheels, but I felt like I kind of mitigated it with getting the color match grill and upgraded wheels with my silverado. -Fit and finish of the interior is nice but its very average for a 22 truck out on the market and the gauge cluster and infotainment center is a complete embarrassment for a 22, its barely changed since the 14s came out and for a 75k truck its kind of like really. I do like the added tool box under the back seat of the GMC vs what silverado had was kind of worthless, only bad thing is when you flip up the seat it blocks using about half the floor -Onstar is mandatory now, my truck was built 11 JUL. $1500 for three years, yeah dumb but you do get the whole suite of On star products. -Went from diesel to the gasser. After a few hundred miles verdict is still out for me. GM made huge a huge mistake by not putting the 10spd with it. Engine is peppy at low speeds and RPM, felt like mid range say going 50-60 and trying to pass and hammering it, the engine is a dog and sort of worried about that. Thus far getting around 14mpg. -Came with 18in wheels and the hankook dynapro, look ok but I like 20s on a truck. I have bought the 20in upgraded option GMC wheels to put on it and tires. Glad I did, I am not old but those tires that came with it are pretty loud and vibrate quite a bit. This truck feels like it floats when driving it, kind of hoping it is soft side walls on these tires or I might have to bring it in because it doesnt feel as tight at my 21, maybe the diesel helped with front end weight. -Bed light is kind of dumb not having a button in the bed to turn it on. Mirrors should have a function to autofold in with key on or off, this kind of goes back to the info/DIC just being 10 years behind in what it can do -Brakes are still soft just the like 21 - I have the sport steps added from GMC, they are more of a solid piece, look really nice. But wonder how they are going to be with ice and snow piling up on them and no real treads on them
  18. Im not an old guy but let me tell you guys something, the 18in wheels come with the Hankook dynapros and they are loud and vibrate pretty bad.
  19. Yes it is for three years, no way out of out it
  20. You have to put things in perspective. Diesel is 10k more up front but you will get lots of that back at resale. Comparing a raptor with added requirements isn’t like a normal half ton or even 2500 gasser. If you can get past the 10k the day its bought, isn’t much more daily but it does add up and when you start paying for fixes on that motor it won’t be kind. with that said I have had 4 diesels now and nothing compares performance wise. But your going to pay for it and your never going to save money or be cheaper. When you start doing the cost per mile with a half ton against a 2500 diesel, or 2500 gasser vs diesel it really does cost quite a bit more.
  21. def and fuel filter once a year is about it. Diff is a diff regardless of what motor is in it. All 2500s are identical mechanically short of the power train
  22. You sure? Not the way I read the warranty
  23. Yes about 10qts nothing more
  24. Others have probably built it in over the years vs GM had it as as a stand alone and now building it in either way picked up the truck and it is mandatory and you get the app functions, nav, Wi-Fi and onstar 911 function
  25. sadly the z71 is a sticker, and floor mats these days in the end. Ford FX4 is about the same thing except they do offer some appearance features with theirs.
