I think those valves have been proven to do nothing at all, except cause whistle sounds at low speed and no starts when they freeze shut. I bolted mine open and drove it like that for several months before trading it and I never noticed any negative at all. My advice to anyone who hasn't yet is...bolt er open!

Shake or Vibration Issues

True, in my Silverado I "felt" Harley exhaust, and louder cars throuhg the floor and pedal. In my Ford, I can actually feel the wiper blades in my gas pedal and when stopped with the foot on the brake. Ford trucks do transmit road to the drivers foot, but I wouldn't call it a vibration. It seems to lesen quite a bit after 5 or 6 thousand miles too. Total different suspension and like they say..they ride like trucks. It took me a while to accept that after driving GM trucks for so long. But, I like the ride a Ford gives and it is much better than the 14 GM I had. In the Ford you just know you're driving a truck, in my 14 Silverado you knew you were driving something with some sort of problem. I keep checking back in here in hopes there's a posted fix and that it's behind everyone now but that doesn;t look to be the case. I do think that as trucks get lighter and lighter, we're all going to "feel" more regardless of brand. The Govt is forcing the manufacturer's hands with little time to vet out the design and it's impact on ride. -

I dont think we can even start to compare what 2 or 3 guys think they "might" feel in their 2015 F-150 and what's going on with this enormous GM vibration issue. From what I understand, Ford's new F150 uses the same frame, drivetrain, and suspension as their 09 - 14 trucks which had been solid...they redesigned the body panels making them aluminum, completely redesigned the interior, and the front grill, and front and rear lights. There are reports of poor fitted body panels in the 15 F-150's but I'm betting they dont have a vibration issue on their hands like GM does still. -

Agreeing with another forum member and also wishing everyone satisfaction in the end rubbed you the wrong way? I just popped in hoping to see people posting a viable fix for GM's vibration issue but ..nope. They're still selling 6000 lb vibrators with not a care on the world. -

YUP! I dumped that vibrating 2014 Silverado and couldn't be happier. That truck was evil and was ruining my life with all it's problems. I hope everyoe is able to find satisfaction in the end. -

I cant tell what you're saying there. I was saying not to blame the SRA tires, and you say you now have 20" SRA tires and your truck rides fine. -

A lot of people are questioning the Goodyear SR-A tires, and I did too when I was forced to troubleshoot a vibrating 2014 silverado. I dumped that LEMON and now drive a 2014 Ford F150 XLT 5.0....I also have Good year SR-A tires on it and it rides very nice on the highway. They're not great tires for snow, but they do alright. Mine have the red dots on the sidewalls and they'll all in different positions on the rim from the valve stem. I wouldnlt blame the GY tires..they arent the source of your vibration (if they've been rebalanced once). Balancing a tire isn't rocket science..they come balanced from the factory, if you had them rebalanced and still get the vibs the 14 and now 15's are showing, you can eliminate tires completely. My SRA's ride pretty nice. I will swap em, but only after the tread is toast. So far I have over 7000 miles on them, they've been rotated once and still look like new. Those new GM trucks are evil, and I'm glad mine is gone! I actually look forward to taking it out and going for a ride. Do yourselves a favor...life is too short so dont let GM put you through this garbage. Get rid of it and get yourself another brand. I'm not here to push Ford...and never dreamed I'd be driving one, but wow they're really nice trucks. LOVE mine! Trade out and get on with your life. I was there too and am glad I got out. I feel bad for those whi just got into what many of us have already been through (compliments of GM). There are better days ahead! It's just a truck so trade ot when you're able and your life will be improved. Hang in there guys. -

Glad yours was an easy fix. They tried that with mine but it didn't help a bit. The first 4 or so visits they were totally focused on tires...balancing, remounting, rebalancing, doing the voodoo tire dance. Nothing made it right. They did so much to those damn tires I figured if they did solve the vibes mine had I would have been afraid to rotate and or balance the darn things. That lemon is gone...my new F150 rides like a beauty and I routinely catch myself doing 75 to 80 on the highway by mistake. With that silverado I avoided 65 and up like the plaque. Not the way to live when driving a new truck. -

If this wasn't a very large and widespread issue, why did the service writer at the dealership where I was taking my lemon 14 GM say "we have a ton of problem trucks out there...in fact not a single one on the lot doesn't have the vibration problem"? If it were just a tiny amount of trucks ....why do all the used lots for dealerships have a bunch of 14 GM for sale? Geesh the Ford dealer I go to now has 3 sitting out front. I've never seen so many people get out of their brand new truck for another brand...coincidence?? If it's so easily fixed with tires why did two GM engineers swap my tires, rims, drive shaft, shocks and still not fix the shakes mine had causing my to dump it?? If those 14's are so great why are the lots full of them? So full GM stalled releasing the 15's for two months! ....and now GM is offering people 0% and $9000 off if they go buy a 14 GM truck? If the 14's are so great...why did Consumer Reports drop the 14 GM truck from their Recommended vehicle list, listing quality and reliability problems? WAY too many people are in complete denial. GM turned a corner. They used to care about their customers and they build a quality product. Now they could give a &$%# less about customers, and they build the cheapest, piece if garbage on 4 wheels. I owned on for 8 miserable months and everything about it was cheap and flimsy....quality has taken a back seat as far as GM is concerned. Those 14's will not last on the road...mark my words. They're built to fall apart...and mine was falling apart in probably 10 different ways with only 11000 miles on it. -

I hope it's gone for your sake...but mine came back after a tire change, and many other people's did too. I'd wait a bit until after you have a 1000 miles or so before considering it fixed. Surprised you had a vib issue with your Ford, havent heard of any Ford's with vob issues. They ride rougher than a Chevy but they dont vibrate. The online forums are pretty clean on this too. I researched it heavily before dumoing my 14 Silverado and switching to Ford. Now I look ofrward to driving my truck again. -

I've said this before but...trade out of your lemon and get into something else. Your time and worry isn't worth it and GM isn't exactly jumping to fix this issue. It's a disgrace on GM that this design flaw was allowed to carry over into the 15's!I was alife longer Chevy owner and never pictured myself driving anything but, however I traded my 14 GM for a 14 Ford and am once again happy with what I'm driving. Trade out of you can. I'm not pushing any certain brand (as long as it isn't GM) but the 14 Ford F150 is probably the best built Ford that they've ever built and there are still left overs that you can find at amazing deals as the 15's just starting showing on lots. I'm very happy with my Ford XLT.....GM and their crappy product ruined an entire summer for me, and cost me a lot of personal time running back and forth to the dealer. Get out while you can...I gave them 8 months to fix mine, and special engineers from GM couldn't make it better. -

Personally, I'm shocked that the media hasnt covered this quite a while ago. Many of us have een burnt...far too many, I did. There's soe that say we're such a small minority. I call bull on that. Early on at my dealer I was working with....out of a see of silverados we couldnlt find ONE...not a single one that didnt vibrate as bad or much worse than my lemon. Honestly, I think the guys who are like "my 14 is great"...I say wait your turn...it'll get you and soon. I wont list all that was wrong with my lemon 14 (alreayd listed it here) but it had a rediculous amount of thngs broken and more started weekly. I was at the point that even if they fixed the vibs I had, there was far too many other things wrong with it that it wasn't stayng in my drive way (things that others have mentioned here and all the other forums). I've bought a lot of trucks, and have never seen a forum of any model year or brand so filled with systemic problems. How did al this not get worked out furing GM's "million miles of testing". Getting back to media coverage.....how do they not pounce on this issue? GM takes tax payer money as a "means to stimulate the US economy"...and then invests in manufacturing in Mexico and Canada??? How was that even allowed?? Then they design sub-par trucks where corners were cut in every way possible and then sold to US consumers and we're made to suffer with GM's lemons. I mean....how is this not getting full coverage on the big news channels? Meanwhile, my new Ford I traded the lemon 14 GM for...6600 miles so far, no recalls, no returns to shop except for my free oil change and tire rotate....it's just a better product all around. And for those who say we're such a small number...no dealerships around here are taking trades on 14 GMs....they have a bunch out front at each and cant sell them. I lucked out and thank God I traded mine when I did or I'd be stuck taking an enormous loss to get out of it. GMs insulting offer minus money because they made me rack up 11000 miles while they screwed around and couldn't fix anything on my lemon made it clear they could have cared less about me, a former life long GM customer who will now never buy or recommend another GM product for the rest of my life. I hope you do have Fox news interested in doing a story...this needs to get out there past all the message boards on the Internet. If you have a link to share regarding what you have in the media please post it here. -

MJFlores replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
Yeah, mine had 12,000 miles and some change when I traded it in. It seemed to get worse from when it first started vibrating at 1000 miles to when I traded it. I do remember a mechanic telling me it'll be a different truck after 10,000 miles and an alignment but that didn't hold true for me. Glad it's gone!! I think all trucks need to be aligned after the suspension settles, things wear in, etc. Ford is giving me an alignment and wheel balance at 15000 miles once I'm there. -

I should point out that...when I had my 14 GM I was convinced it was tires, but didn't want to invest in new ones "just in case" it didn't fix things. My new F150 has the same tires (GY SRA) and they actually ride pretty nice. I took the family on a nice drive yesterday, 208 miles mostly highway and the truck rode great...very comfortable. And, it was in the teens all day and I averaged 19.4 mpg the whole trip. Love my F150 with it's 5.0! -

MJFlores replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
I went through 5 repair attempts with the last two visits done by GM engineers. I figured...now we're getting somewhere when the Engineer was called in. He swapped tires like a minimum wage tire monkey would, and that obviously had no effect at all. After all the time and money they spent trying to figure out my vibration issue, spanning 8 months and 11,000 miles with no improvement....my truck was suddenly deemed "performing as designed" and the case was closed. If they had been honest and advertised that they designed a vibrating peice of sub quality garbage on 4 wheels that would have been one thing...but thats not what they advertised. MY new truck got more money in parts and repairs than all other vehicles I've had over my life combined! There is NO FIX for this vibration....but GM will keep making them the same way, with the same defective design...and will keep selling them to you and taking your money. GM has stopped caring about the customer, and about their reputation. GM's primary goal is taking your money and putting it in their pocket. I truely believe we're witnessing the slow death of GM. They're bleeding money with all these recalls, and cannot legally accept another bailout on the taxpayers dime. They've dug themselves a deep grave by putting profits ahead of quality and customer satisfaction...and thats the absolute shortest lived business model you can implement. After owning one of those vibratorados for 8 months, talking with mechanics and service managers at two dealerships, and several same truck owners in my area it's very clear that those trucks will not, can not last a long life. I personally think someone would have to be crazy to keep one past the 36,000 mile warranty period. I had everything breaking on mine before 11,000 miles and this forum is FULL of people experiencing those same breaking parts. The fan boys will attack me for sayig it...but I say it based on personal experience with that same model truck so... I would make them have a 3rd try, and then open a BBB claim and get a lawyer to put pressure on them so they buy the truck back and go with something else. I'm not pushing any certain brand...I'm just here to remind people that you dont have to suffer at the hands of GM. You dont deserve it, and you have options to end the nitemare and get into a vehicle that drives nice and that you can be happy with. OK, I've go my flak jacket on now...go for it GM fan boys! HAHA. -

They all vibrate....there's no certain built, engine, etc that doesn't vibrate. Even the people who claim theirs doesn't vibrate...it just vibrates less or they're not feeling it. I drove a guys "silky smooth" 14 Silverado and it shook like my lemon. To them, it's "a truck". I had a rental 2 wheel drive with the 6cyl and it vibrated worse than mine with the 5.3, and started from about 50 on up. I promise you one thing...GM knows exactly what's wrong but chooses to keep producing them with the problem, and selling you a truck that they know you're not going to like. This thread is over a year and a half old and GM is still making vibrators...knowingly. -

If you look over on the "how satisfied are you" poll....most of those people insist that less than 1% of the owners are experiencing problems! (I have no idea where those mathematicians get their numbers...maybe out of their behind?) They basically call BS on anyone with a complaint...including the hell I went through with my 2014 Vibratorado. 8 months of hell, GM lies, and more problems that that truck was worth forced me to ditch it when GM gave up trying to fix it. I'm now a VERY happy Ford owner. Sorry, but welcome to the 2014 GM nitemare. Grab a seat, there's plenty of us to chat with. It's a rather large club if anyone bothers to look past this forum. -

Thanks man, I remember you from when I was on here going through hell compliments of GM. What a terrible summer that was. I'm honestly very happy with my F150. I'll never be color blind or a brand snob again. I wish you great luck with your ride as well. -

You guys are too funny...and kinda sad. More than half would side with Chevy no matter what the other side offers. Too blind to see it. I used to be that way but I woke up saw that Ford is the superior truck. I thank Chevy for making my lemon...I would have never wandered away if I got another good one but they did and so I did. VERY glad I did. And what?? Judging Ford on the interior of an STX?? Would I judge Chevy based on the interior of their "work truck" and all it's plastic? Of course not. It's unreal how moronic some people can be. -

Doesn't come close? The 5.0 has 380 torque, 360 HP. The 5.3 has 383 torque and 355 HP. What's not close about that? The Ford actually has a much more efficient torque curve right to peak. -

MJFlores replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
Oh, you mean like this? The 5.0 F150 has more horse power, can tow more, and gets the same or better gas mileage without all the headaches and recalls. I've owned a 14 Vibratorado for 8 months, and a 14 F150 for 4 months. There's no comparison...my Ford gives up nothing to that POS Chevy that GM ripped me off with! By the way....your ignition system was just recalled today. Better take your truck in....AGAIN. -

MJFlores replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
The ride quality problems in the 2014 GM trucks goes far beyond just simple tires, or balancing issues. It's not directly related to rear ends only, or trans issues either. Last summer I was working hard to chase and get repairs for my 14 Silverado and after having everything swapped out by the dealers and engineers...my truck was deemed "normal". I dumped that lemon and drive a different brand of truck now and am happy again. In my opinion, it's an overall lack of quality control. The tires arent the best (most have GY SRA tires), almost everyone's drive shaft is out of spec...you can comfirm by lifting the rear end and letting it spin in gear with a strobe light (they swapped two shafts out of mine and I felt varying degrees of small improvement. Trans are out, pumps arent sufficient, rear end quality issues, fron suspension too small for the truck, aluminum steering components, hub assemblies adding to a wobble at high speed, mine even felt different and changes vibratory characteristics on windy days, with the tailgate down, or when following too close to a large truck on the highway. Air turbulence plays a role in ride quality...just sit in the bed of a truck while it's goijg down the highway and you'll feel all sorts of forces. If the aerodynamic issues were properly addressed in a wind tunnel during design, and quality control was much better on all drive line parts, these trucks wouldn't have the vibration issues they do. To date, NOBODY has had their truck fixed. Not one. Soe have trucks that drive better after rear end swaps, or new drive shafts, etc but they are not fixed. I lived this for almost a year...those trucks just vibrate and for those who say theirs dont just arent feeling it. I've driven two that were supposedly "smooth as glass" and left the tell tale harmonic "woom, woom" at 70 plus, and the overall shake from 60 up. As for tires, my new truck of a different brand has Good Year SRA tires, P rated, and I get a very good highway ride from them. This thread is a year and 5 months old....there is no magic fix. I suggest you decide if you can live with the ride quaility, or trade out to something else. Take it from someone who spent 8 months trying everything with no resolve whatsoever. Maybe the 2016's will be improved...but I doubt it unfortunately. -

You were on here this past summer when I was having all my issues. Glad to see you traded out. What did you end up getting? If I may ask, what dont you like about the STX that would make you willing to take back the Chevy and it's issues? I remmeber you were chaing vib issues like I was. -

MJFlores replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
HAHAHA...No, I think I'll stay. I gave GM $40,000 last Feb, and they took my entire summer from me in stress, crappy rental cars, lost time at work, and mileage to and from the dealership over and over. They also drove my truck countless miles and never put gas in it. No...I paid my dues and my right is to hang out on these forums as much as I please. Maybe even post things too. When I ever see people trading to Ford...I will speak up and tell them thats what I did, and couldn't be happier. If you were on here last summer you'll remmeber what I was going through...many of you are going through the same thing now. I was dropping in to see if GM finally, after a year and a half found a fix to the truck THEY BUILT...but doesn't look like it. I believe I'll keep coming back just to read about the future drive train failures, water leaks, onboard computer failures, engine fires, etc. It's all coming in due time. When a brand new truck is so problem ridden that Consumer Reports yanks it from their "recommended list" publicly, and dealer lots are so stuffed with 2014's that they have to offer $9500 off and still nobody wants them...you got problems, and the trucks are only going to get worse with time...not better. Sorry but thats the bowtie life now. I would suggest to people to get out via trade if you can. I know I'm glad I did it when I did. See ya around BoggyPro...or whatever it is that your Mom named you. -

I think you'll like the 5.0, power wise they seem the same. I'm not sure but it may even be faster than the 5.3. Not sure but doesn't it have 10 more HP than the GM? You're going to enjoy the Ford...its a much more solid, truck feel than the GM...I especially like the exhaust sound. It's just a more solid feel, and the interior is much more comfortable.
