  1. I played with the chime volume setting again, it doesnlt seem to have any effect on the chime volume at all. I have it slid all the way to the left which appears to be off, but thats still the ear piercing loud setting. I'm now looking for a way to completely shut it off (the seat belt nag). I've found a few sites that tell you how to silence other vehicles through gas pedal presses after turning the truck to start but havent found the trick for the 2014 GMs yet. For me, if I start it remotely and let it warm up it seems like when I get in it immediately starts screaming at me and you cant get the seatbelt on fast enough....I also have a very long dirt driveway and I dont put my belt back on after getting my mail from the maibox....I drive 10 miles per hour down the driveway and it starts blasting me and trying to explode my ear drums. Until I figure out how to silence it I'm keeping hearing protection in my truck from my trip from the mailbox to the house.
  2. I've said this on a few posts but it bears repeating. GM and Goodyear have been in bed together for years. GM could not have put a worse tire on these trucks...the tread is there for maximum fuel economy, and everything else second to that. If anyone wants their truck to ride to it's full potential, the first thing you have to do is pull these junk Goodyears off and out ANYTHING else on. Any after market tire will make a huge change you'll instantly feel. Every new truck I buy had new tires before I hit 12,000 miles...and these ones I doubt will make it through this summer. I wouldn't even bother taking it in to the dealer until you've put a decent set of rubber on the truck. You're just going to get frustrated. I know it sucks to have to sink $800 + into a new truck to get a decent ride, but that's just the way it is. The more miles you put on these crap goodyears, the worse your ride is going to be. For me, Im betting that before I hit 10,000 miles I have 4 new Nittos on there.
  3. Well, you mention not annoying. Have you hear a loud drone sound before? It can be very annoying I would go with a system that specifically defeats drone (unless you retain the original flapper valve). Borla and Corsa both claim to be drone free so perhaps start there.
  4. Has anyone else noticed how loud the door chime on the 2014 Chevy's (and most likely GMCs) are? Mine is very loud, and I've had others mention it too while they're in the truck. It doesn't give you a chance to get your seat belt done befopre yelling at you. I found what looks like a chime volume in the settings but even on the lowest it's still very loud. Any tricks to turning the volumke down much further? Or worst case disabling all together?
  5. Do you think the single side outlet would be a bit quieter than the dual out the rear? I want some more volume but nothing crazy loud. I wish there was a place where you could go to hear these setups before doing it. Maybe a 2014 Gm meet? After installing after market exhaust, is there any tuning needed or will the computer sort of adjust itself on everything?
  6. Nice truck, I like the rims.
  7. So....I think I like this one. Dual exits out the rear. Anyone know if this system eliminated the flapper valve that comes on our trucks? Does it have it's own? If you look at the parts list there's a short pipe with a small box built into it...maybe Corsa has a flappy valve too so they can promise no drone?
  8. Hmmm, that Corsa setup does sound good...but I'll need a high speed drive by sound clip, a zero to 60 sound clip, and cab clips with the windows down, and up. haha
  9. That's where I'm at too. I dont want to spend that kind of money and not really like it. Curious why you dont like Borla? Seems to be good stuff and have a nice sound. I've been scrounging youtube for videos and such...some are kind of lackluster. I was looking on summitracing.com and they have a bunch of systems, they must have 12 or so different Corsa systems just for the 2014 Silverado extended cab, short bed. I have no idea why there's so many systems or part numbers listed. Incase you havent heard it, here's a vid of Borla's system for the 2014 Silverado / GMC. I kinda like the sound of that "S" type.
  10. So many options...price ranges, etc. I thought I wanted Borla..but seeing so many others. Corsa looks relaly nice. Decisions, decisions... How did everyone else pick?
  11. No, mine came with the 4" round steps. I really like them, and they're plenty wide enough for your foot.
  12. Thanks. Those are the GM 4" steps. The dealer here puts them on all the trucks they have.
  13. I finally took the new ride through a wash to get all the salt off it. I'm really liking this color. They sure look nice when they're clean...too bad it's so hard keeping them that way!!
  14. I would bring the truck to the dealer...something isn't working properly in your fuel management system. You should have to really try hard to get such poor gas mileage, mine sips gas and averages 19 with no problem...much better if I give it half a try.
  15. I put one of those on a truck...two trucks ago. I wouldn't do it again. It made the truck very loud from the engine compartment, and I never did notice a difference in performance or gas mileage.
  16. "Performing as designed". OK, Then GM designed a truck that draws in external smells, (burning oil smell, deiesel exhaust, fast food joints, anything within proximity to the truck) and circulates it into your cab where you're trying to breathe. NICE. Strange how I've never experienced this with any other vehicle...but for some reason GM designed it like that in 2014. I guess we'll all have to remember this "design break through" in 3 or 4 years when we're all ready to drop $40,000 + on new trucks.
  17. Keep in mind that, stock trucks come with terrible tires. You may have the Goodyear SA's that the rest of us have. You really cant buy a worse tire if you tried. I'm very serious about that. It's a shame to spend that much on a new truck, only to have to drop a grand for new tires so you get a decent truck. If GM (are you listening GM?) wouyld simply put decent tires on right out of the gate, and up the price on the truck for the difference...they'd have MUCH happier customers and the dealers woudn't be flooded with customers complaining about vibration issues. Mine shakes a bit in the wheel at 70. I'm very picky about ride quality but mine hasn't gone over that line yet... When it does, it's 4 new Nitto tires for me. I did this on my 2010 Silverado after about 10000 miles. For now, I remind myself...it's just a truck. I hope you can ease your mind and get to start enjoying your new truck...you deserve that much ya know?
  18. HAHA...tell me about it. I'm getting a little tired of waiting for this "break in" smell to go away. Theres clearly a fan or vacuum sucking burning engine smells into the cabs of these trucks. It might be faint, and occasional but its happening and really isn't acceptable. Would BMW have vehicles driving around like this? Cmon Chevy.
  19. I wonder if the vents not closing all the way have something to do with people smelling burning smells? I keep getting a "burning / oil / break in smell from time to time and I'm careful to leave on recircuate only. Seems like a lot of us are gtting this smell but cant find an oil leak anywhere.
  20. Thanks! I cant wait for this snow and salt to be gone so I can really clean her up and give er some wax !!
  21. Here's mine right after I got home with it. It's a snowy winter so it's hard to keep it clean but it'll look great this summer with a little wax!
  22. It is indeed! I grew up in Londonderry NH, moved here to Deerfield 12 years ago. We do like it here.
  23. I live in Deerfield NH. Just found the site, and I'm a life long Chevy owner. Just bought my latest ride, 2014 Silverado Z71. Great site and great info. Glad I stumbled in!
  24. I just got a Silverado Z71 in Brownstone. It's a classy looking truck. The color comes alive in the sun. I've received a few compliments so far.
