Looks like they removed their response before I could see it. WOW, very disappointing. -

I think he's spot on with the Trans assessment. My guess is that it'll be bandaided until your warranty is up and then get ready to bend over for repair bills. I'd bet money that the 2015 GMs will ride much better. I left a post on GM trucks FB page. I dont know if anyone here has checked out Ford lately...but they make a solid truck. I've been looking and wish I had gone that route instead. -

I'm a few days late on a call back from my dealership too. It's very clear that they dont have an answer and dont know what to say to me when they do call back...or when I call them asking whats up. They really should still call back. -

I will admit that I can lay my phone on the flat area on the top of the cup holders, and it doesn't shake off. I bet if I lean a pen or something in there it wouldn't shake terribly, but my truck still shakes unacceptably, and I feel a slight shake in the wheel, pulsing in the gas pedal, etc. My pant leg and shoelaces shake and vibrate. Very annoying. Sometimes I can see the window mirror shake, and my hood pulses up and down when it's at it's worst. -

Here's an update observation I had over the weekend...I'm trying to post observations I have to see if they coincide with what others experience, and the odd chance that GM is checking these forums and can use this sort of information. Last week I had very poor ride performance, and it was very hot and humid. Air was thick and I thought I could detect an impact the thick air was having on ride. Thursday we had a bad weather pattern come through which I got caught in on the way home Thursday evening. I pulled over due to hail and very strong rain (lucklily no damage). Anyway, when the bad part past I got on the highway and tried to race past the next dark cloud coming...due to traffic I never could get past 75 mph and the shaking was terrible. Fast forward to yesterday and this am, cooler weather and much drier / lighter air and the ride was much better. Not perfect, but tolerable. This am was a still morning, 73 degrees and cool dry feeling air and the ride was improved over hot humid temps. I'm wondering if these trucks vibrate when trying to cut through heavy air...or if humid hot air effects the fuel mix / delivery and cause vibration stemming from the engine? Food for thought anyway. I'm looking forward to hearing the results of Chappy's rear end gear swap and I can see that having different characteristics with temperature changes. If it's external air flow, has anyone installed a bug guard or something like that and seen a change. Is there anyone here with vibrations and a bug guard, or airdam removed? I'm still looking for imput from people that have changed to aftermarket exhaust..I'd liek to know if any of the exhaust guys who have swapped, have the vib issues going on. -

Thanks for the update Chappy, I've been waiting to hear your results of the ring and pinion swap. That makes total sense. Hopefully this fixes your issue, and then all of the rest can get it done as well. I'm betting the new gear make a big difference! -

Thats a very good analysis there ...with mine it's the worst when in cruise control, but I can snap it out of the "cycle" briefly only to have it come back...there is a harmonic component and I can sense a low woom, woom, woom thats much slower cycled than tire rotation. My gut says these tires heat up, lose their shape, and start a wobble that begins a harmonic vibration that you're feeling on top of the tire wobble. It's about as annoying as things can get. The thing keeping me from just buying a set of tires is...it could also be fuel delivery, torque converter, and engine mount, and so on and so on. I've sort of ruled out rims, drive shaft, and rear end but again...who the heck knows and really, as a consumer I shouldn't have to know or care. I should be a lot happier with a brand new truck. -

I'm going back to tires as well. But I'm sort of done with guessing and troubleshooting this truck. Mine was a lot better after rebalance the tires and drive shaft but it's come back at this point...so points to tires maybe? See,s like after I get going, for 10 miles or so at HW speed the tires start hopping or jiggling but then again it could be anything at this point. Calling the dealer again and going in for the 4th time. This time I'm going to have an honest talk ans tell them I'm done, either the truck gets fixed or I dont want it back...time for GM to figure this out. It's not fair for a customer to be put through this. -

How much of a process was it to go through? And did it cost you any as far as a loss from youir original down payment / trade etc? I'm just weighting my options right now. -

Mine was built Dec, 2013. Right now after balancing the drive shaft and replacing two tires it's not terrible in cool weather, not great but not terrible. When it's hot out like on the way home from work it's not good at all. -

For everyone with the shake / wobble problems...do you feel it gets worse with these summer temps we're in now? -

MJFlores replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
The temps here today were in the low 90's...very bad shaking at highway speed. Has anyone else noticed this? In the am on the way to work it's not too bad....but once it warms up wow...completely unacceptable ride. I'm not kidding here...looking forward to the fall and a better riding truck. Mine seems to really run poorly in this heat...runs poor, seems sluggish, MPG went down a bit, and shakes worse. Whats up with these trucks? -

MJFlores replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
I dont doubt that...I have a Z71 and run my tire pressure so they never exceed 33 when warm...today was in the 90's and they expanded out to 34...one was at 35. It helps a it for sure. -

Well, wishfull thinking...it was just the cooler temps and not the tailgfate being down. It was mid 90's when I left my client and the truck was vibrating on the way home with the tail gate down. I still think it had a little bit of an impact, but not a big one at all. Oh well. Back to the drawing board...cuz GM certainly isn't at their's. -

I can't believe it took me a few week to finally try this but....if people could drop their tailgate and then go for a ride on the highway at 70 mph plus and report back, I'd appreciate it. I drove 20 miles that this just this am, temp 78 degrees and was very surprised by the ride quality. Will need more testing to be sure. Please try and report back if you can. -

I do believe this is part of the problem, and why it's gone un-corrected for so long. How do you correct this sort of problem. I notice on mine, I can hit the HW and bring it up to 70 to 75 and all is well...only after a while the vibration builds and becomes annoying. I also see a difference in temperature. I've mentioned this before but I think there are many factors working together to cause this vib problem...engine / exhaust harmonics, too stiff a suspension with too light a frame, etc. It's a recipe for a poor ride. If it were a gear, or a prop shaft, or a tire all in itself GM would have issued a recall and fixed it. There in lays the problem...in their "million miles of testing" they absolutley saw this issue and decided not to address it. The cardinal rule of designing autos is....give the driver a good driving experience. They failed to do this and have no idea how to correct things. They did swap aluminum drive shafts for steel and that seems to have helped the issue a little bit, but the design here is flawed. I've thought about using rubber and making my own suspension dampeners but seriously...I have better things to do with my time. I actually hate working on vehicles, and despise troubleshooting a new vehicle every time I drive it. GM is about to release the 15's, so this is old news now and will never be addressed. It's an unfixable design unfortunately. Our mistake was believing that GM would never release crap...but that went and did that. Mines been to the dealer 3 times for vibs, and needs to go back for other broken crap. Enough. I'm getting out of this as soon as I can without loosing my shirt. In the meantime I'm letting everyone know who asks me how I like my truck...I tell them to steer as far away as possible from GM. I turned a guy away last night, and another Town employee who is getting ready to outfit the highway shed with new trucks. "Finding new Roads"? ....yeah, any road that you cant get up to HW speed so you have your filings in your mouth when you get to where you're going! -

Seriously? Go back and check when this vibration thread was started. It's been a significant problem for almost a year now. Moron. -
So far people are fixing their brand new GM trucks with hose clamps on the seat, and to open the flapper valve in the exhaust. They used two hose clamps to balance my drve shaft (which didn't completely fix the vibration I have...and a lot of others have). It begs the question....maybe new GM trucks should come with a bag of various size hose clamps? GM...this is getting embarrassing for you. FIX YOUR PRODUCT ALREADY!! Geesh!

Uggh. I've just about given up at this point. The 2014 Silverado, is just one of those models we'll all be laughing about years from now. It's the one that shook and drove like crap on the HW. The one people had seat issues with, the drink holders couldn't hold a bottle of anything...the groaning 4 wheel auto, the crappy radio reception, the one with the exhaust valve that freezes shut and keeps you from starting your truck...and whistles like a fake turbo for the other half. They were nice looking trucks though, they'll say... as if that's all that matters in the big scheme of things. What a shame....GM just isn't the same company that we all thought had our backs. They're all about money apparently....produce what will see for the cheapest possible and ignore the complaints that come in. Just tonight, my steering column started clicking and grinding when I pulled in the drive way after work. I may be done boys. Next we'll see Walmart selling GM trucks...seems fitting. -

They told me they aim for under 24. My dealer replaces anything higher than that with a new tire, although I think they first try to spin the tire on the rim to get a lower value. Right now I have, or had 2 tires that were at 2, one at 12 and one at around 8 I think? It drove better but still has a shimmey. -

MJFlores replied to Silver space ship's topic in Troubleshooting & Recalls
I think that only shields the driver from steering wheel vibration, although I could be wrong. Most people seem to feel it in the body of the truck...floor, seats, etc. I'm betting if the culprit where one item, GM would have a fix by now. I think there are many different items working together to cause these trucks to ride terribly. Junk tires, electric steering, new (defective) body mounts, too stiff shocks, frame issues, poor drive shafts, vibrating exhaust...it's like GM has never built a truck before. Aside from No Starts, poor ride quality is the number one characteristic to avoid in a new vehicle and this has GM stumped? Come on GM. If they're not going to care about us...go out of business already. -

Been checking the NTB website almost everyday...and just saw they're have a great sale on tires...buy 2, get 2 free with the purchase of an alignment and lifetime balance. I called and they said I can get 4 Nitto Crosstek's with a 1 year alignment and life time balance / road hazard for $664. Hmmmm...it doesnt get any better than that for price...but what if it still shakes?
