Accessory in the Tahoe is the same, after 10 minutes though radio operation for example shuts off and I don't remember if the process has to be repeated or just hit the radio on/off button to resume. I provided a link to Wrench a while ago with the PDF version.

That's more of a positive answer "replacing the ring and pinion due to an abnormal setting on the backlash". This is the first time on this thread that something was replaced due to finding a problem. Put the vehicle through the test by going over bumps and at different speeds from 25 to 70. A lot of folks will be awaiting you next report. In the meantime, can you post a picture from your work invoice that pertains to the ring and pinion work?

One thing to buy this truck and it develop issues, doesn't make sense to buy a truck with known issues, especially being a member on this thread. Wouldn't have a leg to stand on if you wanted to take it in for vibration? This is red flag 101 Send this message to Janelle and see what she says. Something tells me she will say the dealership don't know anything about these trucks having a vibration problem, this is an isolated case.

There may not be anything structurally different, trucks like mine don't have any of these issues. To find anything different would force GM to admit they didn't conduct or report appropriate quality control of something wrong in the beginning. Very good line Jason It's commendable that independent dealers are doing what they can to mitigate the buffeting problem, but I can't see how replacing a non-defective part with the same part is going to solve the buffeting, just doesn't make sense to me? The tech did mention a couple of things, the "hourglass" wear pattern and the backlash, but didn't say if that was abnormal or not. Addressing these things with the same part will result with the another hourglass wear pattern and the same backlash?

Great start, now kick-up the "Pressure" a few notches. Tune the XM radio to a channel with very heavy bass then tell us how that reverb is feeling.

spdyprnt - you said the entire rear end/axle assembly and drive shaft was replaced and there is no more buffeting in your vehicle. What parts were broken, updated, recalled, or torqued? My point, if GM just replaced those parts just because they "guessed" it would fix the buffeting, then the problem should come back. There was nothing wrong with the parts they replaced, they just put the same versions of the parts that were already on the truck? Your service invoice may be key here. For the buffeting to have stopped, the invoice should say part x was replaced with a newer version of part x, or part x was torqued wrong, or part x was broken, or part x was recalled, etc, etc. If your invoice doesn't say that, I can't see this being a fix over the long haul. But then again, I don't work for GM. What's written on your service invoice?

One fella used cotton balls around his noise cancellation mics and he says they eliminated the buffeting and pressure. Nothing written on this thread pertains to an electrical issue. Spent 23 years in the military, Security Forces. Carried the 9mm, 38 revolver, M16 rifle, M203 grenade launcher, and the M60 machine gun throughout my entire career. Fired thousands of rounds, expert shot with all the weapons (although the M60 and M203 are like horseshoes, just need to get close). My favorite was the grenade launcher, I could consistently lob a round through a window at 100 yards. Fundamentals in everything are important, but diet and exercise does affect marksmanship. We were required to run and jump to get the heart rate up before firing, you did not qualify with the weapon if you didn't maintain an exercise program.

CI Houn - there are 4 issues that dominate this thread, Shaking/Vibration/Buffeting/Pressure. You may have something for your issue, it sounds like your dash has too much play if the tick goes away when you push in. When you take it into the shop, ask the tech to replace the dash and if not add some more padding on the inside edge of the dash which may fill some of the space enough to stop the tick. Dash itch should be their problem not yours, if this was me my first option would be dash replacement.

It's funny today, but look how many times I said that eight months ago in post 9 and 10. I own a vehicle in which the seat was moving, the bottom seat bracket was replaced and the seat movement stopped.

Billyjack - info trail from this thread; the dealer will start by taking down your headliner followed with securing beams (brace) if necessary. GM sends out a field engineer and the driveshaft is changed out with your shocks, tires and wheels soon to follow. After your truck has been reconfigured with the dealer having your truck longer than you, GM may allow you to get out of the deal with a loss. If you are fortunate enough to get out of the deal, your truck is sold to the next fella and the thread repeats itself. Nine months ago, sssqueue made a comment similar to yours.

Two part carry-over, now that's new. The rear end looks higher which won't help the already non-existent visibility out the back. I like the body styling, although I prefer a touring car. If the vents on the hood are functional, headwinds will be a fun drive with the turbo version. Just going on looks alone, I'll give it a 10, although I wouldn't buy one. If it's rock chips, that's something normally not covered. If you bought the truck with the steps and there is a defect in the paint, then that should be covered. Check your "finish" warranty.

aduss - obviously there is an issue with some of these trucks and dealers are handling it differently. You don't want advice from anyone how to force the dealer to do something, take it back in and tell the service tech to duplicate your driving style. After you talk to the tech, go speak with the Service Manager and tell him you understand some trucks are not having the problem but some are, in particular yours. Provide him with the parts list and tell him your expectation is the vehicle will be fixed when you pick it up. If it is not fixed, then take the issue to the manager of the business. If that doesn't work, the lack of satisfactory service has to be reflected on the customer feedback form, a bad rating reflects negatively from the manufacturer.

If you are driving a Chevy, there is a button under the liftgate bowtie, far right.

If the dealer doesn't come up with a fix, go to the auto parts or hardware store and look at some different rubber grommet or washer sizes, one may fit between the metal as you describe it.

morecowbell75 - I don't know if there is something "exactly" you can test or look for, if that was the case this thread wouldn't be 60 pages deep. But if you drive the vehicle at speeds between 25-50, stop and go, bumps along the way and you notice shaking, vibration, buffeting, or pressure, then that's a real good sign there's something wrong with "that" truck. I would say the percentage of affected trucks is probably small based on few new posters on this thread as compared to the amount of trucks sold. I have a Tahoe LT with no problems, you might get lucky. But if you don't get lucky, purchasing a truck with problems will be bad on adults and worse for your kids, the kids may not be able to articulate exactly what's going on. Take your kids with you on the test drive, if the're having a good day before the drive and appear irritated more than usual during or after the drive, don't get "that" truck regardless of what you or you wife may not feel. Withdraw your deposit and try another truck. Note: the above listed issues may show up some time later, but during a test drive is a definite do not buy.

As an original owner, I bought a '87 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe Demonstrator model and the undercarriage was sprayed with a Line-X type coating. After 28 years, the coating is still there.

Took a look today, the button is a simple manual operation. When you press the button, it causes a spring to pull a lever which kicks-out the glass. Looks like you may have to take off the weatherstripping and possibly the liftgate panel to replace parts, may be more hassle to fix. I have a shop manual somewhere, it should show how to remove the liftgate panel. If the glass unlocks, it can open, you just have to pry it. This won't fix your problem, only get the glass open on this occasion.

2014 (Chevy) rear shocks are inferior to the current and prior versions, but this is an excellent version. Replace the OEM shocks with quality aftermarket and this truck will get the job done.

This is a manual lift, what do you mean it won't reopen. Once the key locking mechanism is unlocked, it's then pressed and the lift glass disengages. After that it's all about pulling up on the glass about halfway then the adjuster takes it the rest of the way. If it doesn't work like that then the key locking mechanism may need to be replaced, sounds like it may not be disengaging the glass. This was a great year for Chevy, but actuator or tumbler could have rusted or worn-out, this is a thirteen year old vehicle (if your talking about your '02).

Dadof4 - Unfortunate that this is your first post, hope everything works out at the dealership. I own a 2015 and 2001 model and just got rid of my 2008 model. My '01 and '08 generations did not have any issues associated with this thread, neither does my '15. I don't have knowledge to comment on other manufacturers Fullsize SUVs, but for GM, you may not have to go back any further than the 2014 model if GM ends up being your option.

If you are in the market for one of the 2015 GM Fullsize SUV's (GMFSUV), conduct this test first. Drive a GMFSUV(1) non-extended version, base model, 20 inch wheels or less, with Premium Ride Suspension. Then compare the ride to a GMFSUV(2) extended version, bells and whistles, 22 inch wheels or more, with Magnetic Ride Suspension. This comparison is not definitive because most GMFSUVs 1 and 2 are trouble free, but based on input on this thread from "owners", the GMFSUV(2) will more than likely exhibit issues of buffeting and pressure on more occurences than the GMFSUV(1) GM has not figured-out or yet published information to answer problems associated with buffeting and pressure with the 2015 year truck, if you purchase a truck with these problems you will definitely regret it. But if you just got to have one of these trucks, the test may allow you to get lucky and your truck may not experience any issues at all.
