  1. GM says that our trucks don't need any type of under coating. They are likely correct for the 3 yr warranty period. Some people like me want to keep there new truck for many years. So what does everyone feel is the current best rust protection? I have been thinking about spraying the underside of the truck with oil ever few years. I thought it was a crazy idea but I have seen talk of this in other threads. Personal experience has shown me that old trucks the leak a lot of oil tend to have solid floor bards. The steady oil leak stops them from rusting. Im not sure if a spray on bed line will stick on top of the coating the factory added. Whats is everyones thoughts?
  2. Like everyone said... if your going to upgrade then upgrade and don't get the Bose crap. There are many better products at a lower cost. Im sure my truck will be getting all Kicker stuff a few weeks after I get it home.
  3. I went to gmc.com, open a chat, gave them my vin and asked for a build sheet. They gave me this list. It has the RPO codes as well as what they mean. Seems like an easy way to get the definitions of any you dont have.
  4. Getting back on track.... Wife and I took the other cars to a local car show / fund raiser for the boy scouts. Try to take something every year to help them out. Wife's: Mine:
  5. lol... yah, your one of the guys asked. I was already leaning to that plan. Your setup convinced that it was still the best option. Lowered my first truck in 1995 and nothing has changed. The kits are still iffy and one piece at a time still seems to be the best way to go if you want exact.
  6. The blue one looks lowest. I have the exact same issue and decided I am not going to buy a kit. I am going to buy drop struts, drop spindles and flip kit. I will get the adjustable drop struts so I can move them as needed. If the back is to low I will add air bags just to lift it a little. Not going to "bag it" just the ride right kit to use to level it when pulling a trailer. This seems to give me the most flexibility at the lowest cost. I will also buy the parts in steps starting with the drop struts and removing the lift block in there rear. I will drive for a few days and then decided the next parts to get. I have been dropping trucks for 20 years. In my experience kits are just an idea and never exact. One company will say the kit is a 4" drop and one will say its a 3" drop. Its probably more like a 3.5 and they use the number they think will sell the most. Its just a fact. Getting the exact drop or lift with in 1" is a lot of trial and error. I think I used 2 different leaf springs and 3 different blocks in an 89 B2200 last year to get within a 1/4 of what I wanted. I had to have redone that drop 6 or 7 times. You can look for a truck on here with the drop you want and ask them what they used.
  7. Drive it 5 or 6 miles. Then measure again. Many cars take time to settle back down. I can simply jack my Camaro or Corvette up and they sit about an inch higher till I drive them. The springs need to settle back down. It sure doesn't look like it drop another 2". Spindles are usually exact.
  8. Clearly you have a 4x4. Can you give me details about what all you are using besides the spindles? What year is your truck? Rear flip kit? What size wheels? Im researching drop kits for my 2018 4x4 and think your about the drop I want. I wont know if they are cast steal or not till I pick the truck up next week. Thanks for any help.
  9. Im lifted so my u-blots were crushed on as tight as possible.
  10. I have not tried the front. Mine is softer around town with them. I wonder if the shorter wheel base of the Regular Cab has an impact.
  11. You are correct. I don't have the issue so I did not listen much. I could not remember the term and I did not want to look it up. There is an update for the 2500 and 3500 as well. But someone on this forum said no update for 1500's
  12. Clamps wont help. Wrong vibration source.
  13. This is the other vibration. I do not believe a leaf spring clamp will do any good. Those of us with confirmed fix from a clamp never had a vibration in the steering wheel. That is from the front end and/or the engine. Most likely the power steering pump. My vibration was 100% in the rear end. Felt like back tire was out of balance.
  14. fix 1 = bought a dodge fix 2 = bought a toyota fix 3 = bought a Ford Personally, I had great success with a stupid $18 clamp. My truck is vibration free. If you go back to around page 550 and read forward you can find all this info.
  15. Can I get more info about your truck? Where is the vibration? Are you a 1/2 ton or larger? Where did you put the clamps? How tight were the clamps? Is your bed loaded? Have you had a RFB done? 4x4 engaged had no impact on my vibration. We might have a different cause. I am aware of 3 different types of vibrations. I had the RFB done and the add the clamps. So have several others. Yes, we drove them in between to make sure it was not the RFB.
  16. The bolts tighten them down. There is no reason to jack up the truck. You can install them in 3 min in the parking lot when you buy them if you have a wrench.
  17. Correct However I have my local dealer has no problem admitting that 100% of all trucks made vibrate. They don't care about $18. If that will fix it. They will spend the money and add it to the truck before it is sold. There goal is to help there customers. All of there customers will happily spend $18 of there own money to make the truck ride better. I did. I would rather spend $18 the schedule another appointment at a dealership. It wont fix all trucks, depends on why the specific one shakes, but to many people have said it works to not try it.
  18. More have tried it and it fixed the issue then not. I am only aware of one person who tried it and said the ride is better but still shakes. (steering shake) One person who tried it and said the truck road a lot stiffer. He took them off. I am aware of 5 or 6 who said it stopped and the truck instantly road 100% better. If 1 person tried it, for $18 I was willing to try it. And it worked. My wife even noticed how much nicer the truck road. If it doesn't work, OMG your out $18 and 5 min. If you really care about the $18 take them back and get a refund. Not worth the time to me. Its a no loose situation. You have to remember there are different causes. It will NOT help the steering shudder. If you feel it in your steering wheel, it wont help.
  19. No. I have a lift kit, so I have tilted blocks. Its not the pinion angle that is causing it and the clamps have no effect on pinion angle.
  20. My local dealership is testing that idea. If they can prove it to GM they are going to get the engineers down and try to get GM to do just that.
  21. any parts store in the section with trailer hitches. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/autocraft-leaf-spring-clamp-kit-1-set-ac131401-13-140/10053472-p Its a bolt with two 90 degree bends and two nuts. You literally set it over the leaf springs, put the wash on, put the nut on and tighten it down. Takes 2 to 3 min per side. It does not change the pinion angle. It puts tension on the over load, pulling it into the leaf springs thus changing the compression rate of the springs. My early guess is stock empty trucks need it in front of the axle and lifted trucks need it in back. This is a very early guess. I have talk to two guys with each setup that no longer have a vibration. The local dealership is testing it on new trucks. Hopefully they will tell me what they find.
  22. Why don't more of you spend $18 on a leaf spring clamp and try it. Try in front and behind the axle. Its not much more work then posting in this thread. There are several conformed trucks fixed with this simple change. Is it more fun to post that your truck shakes and GM wont fix it? I decided not to play the game with GM and found a fix on my own. Love my truck now.
  23. Call Tri County, Chris Berg, 719-384-4401
  24. bigger tires made mine worse. The leaf spring clamp is still working great.
  25. Road surfaces and/or speed limits in your area? I never saw temps effect mine.
