  1. Idk, I never had to add oil until I installed the catch can.
  2. This. I love my elite e2. I run e85 so I think it tends to produce more moisture. The e2 does a great job at collecting it. So much so that I have to empty it every 1500 miles. Also I noticed I have to add about the 1/2 quart of oil between changes due to the amount of oil it catches. And no my truck isn't burning oil.
  3. I used the brackets that came with the light and used some flat aluminum channel to mount the brackets too. Might be hard to see but here's a pic i took during install.
  4. Installed a 42" curved bar behind the grille. Took some cutting and rigging and removing the entire grille and supports, including whats shown in the picture below. All in all there were about 30 or more bolts to remove, misc. wiring, hood latch, and headlights. I couldn't upload a better picture because photobucket charges and the site doesn't allow over 4.8mb pics to post. It took about 6 hours of time, start to finish to do properly, but I like it.
  5. Just noticed this group, figured I'll do an intro. I grew up in central texas and currently live north of austin. I drive a summit white '14 CC standard bed, lowered 2-3, gibson exhaust, air raid intake, and a canned tune. Nothing major planned for the truck since I have my real toy in the garage. Possibly making some big changes soon that may require to me to trade in for a 3/4 or 1 ton diesel. Most of my free time i spend fishing all over central texas and beyond on occasion.
  6. Im a fan of aftermarket hoods but Im begging you to not put that horrific thing on your truck. Please. For real.
  7. This is true. I didnt know our spare was 17" lol.
  8. Thanks for the heads up. Luckily I haven't had a flat yet.
  9. If you talk to diablo they will tell you a certain amount of throttle boost is built into the canned tunes. If you want something different you will have to make the adjustments yourself or have a custom tune made for you
  10. yes it runs in a higher rpm. thats partially how you get better throttle response and a transmission thats not so shifty. 45 mph is the magic number to get the trans to shift into a lower gear. The higher rpms may take away some mpg's but its probably not going to be that noticeable, if it even goes down. To tell you the truth i run the E85 tune and got 18.3 mpg on the highway this week, doing 80-85 from austin to dallas. Thats on winter gas too. In the summer on 87-93 I know I'd still get 23-25mpg. So mpg's isnt affected all that much. Prior to the tune the best mileage i ever got on E85 was 19ish and that was on the flat roads from east texas to louisiana.
  11. Use the McG spindles. I've had them for 15k, no alignment issues and truck handles like stock. Only issue is you lose some turning radius.
  12. No problems with stock shocks but I want something that will help reduce body roll and actually work correctly.
  13. ive had my E85 and firm shift tune on for a week and love it. I do have one question. At WOT, towards the end of some shifts my truck sounds like it was banging off the rev limiter. RPM's are still climbing but the exhaust sounds like its surging sometimes. The first time it happened I thought it was wheel spin but I didn't feel any. The second time I looked closely at the RPM's and they were steadily climbing and definitely no wheel spin. This only happens for a few seconds when im in the upper band of RPM's. Anyone else experience this?
  14. So what shocks does everyone prefer? I only have the front lower 2" on spindles and the rear dropped 3" but feel I need better shocks.
  15. Yes, shackles are pretty much universal.
  16. Just an FYI for everyone. My range device kept killing my batter . For 2 weeks I couldn't figure out why and even took it to the dealer thinking the alternator was going out. They didn't find anything and a few days later I plugged in the range device again. Dead battery, again. I charged it again over night but it wouldn't start. My battery was toast. Not the fault of the range device but a weak and dying battery will definitely give each you issues when using the range device. Mainly, helping kill the battery quicker. I put in a new agm battery and everything has been fine since.
  17. It may. If you look on the picture it says GM issued a stop delivery order, which means no trucks were being shipped out until the issue was addressed.
  18. Did you send it in for the software update? I just sent mine in last week and got it back yesterday. I havent reinstalled it because i want to run my truck for a couple days and see if the dead battery issue comes back.
  19. Well I picked up my truck yesterday. They never could figure out why my battery died twice. The alternator checked out fine and so did the battery. Im thinking my Range AFM delete was not updated to the latest version and when it threw the stabilitrak and brake assist codes it kept draining the battery. Just a guess. Anyhow, the recall is exactly what ladderman stated. I doubt that was the cause of my truck dying though.
  20. Interesting, they've had my truck know since Wednesday and still no update. Gonna give them a call later since I need a loaner for the weekend.
  21. Back story, my truck has had the headlights start dimming occasionally and has needed to be jump started about 5 times. Once I thought it was from me leaving the radio on too long while camping, and once from the afm delete plugged in. However the afm was only plugged in overnight lIke it had been many times and the radio was only on for an hour, I've had it run much long before. Fast forward to this weekend. I took two 1 hour plus trips and both times when I went to leave my truck was dead. Weird thing was the truck made it home the first day (after a jump) and then started right up the next morning but was dead again by the time I arrived at my destination. Anyhow, no big deal it's either a battery or alternator, so it's currently at the dealer. I call this morning to get an update and the guy says it looks like a dead cell but that there is a recall on a grounding issue and they are waiting to here from gm on how to proceed. I hadn't heard about this recall yet and was wondering if anyone else has?
  22. The white dip on my grille came loose from bad prep so I peeled it last week and went for a different look. I had some black dip laying around along with Halo and some black pearl to mix in for the topcoat. From a distance the grille just looks black but closers you can see the semi gloss and pearl in it. I'm not sure if I like it or not but it's staying for a while only because its a lot of prep to go back to white lol. I also installed white headlight trim covers a while back and a metal Mulisha exhaust.
