  1. I know lots of posts on here about better tires and properly balanced tires making it better but only 70%-80% so I still think there is another underlying issue with the trucks. Possibly the frame or suspension. A friend of mine wanted to test drive a new Tundra the other day so I went along for the ride. One of the first things the sales person talked about was the frame and it being made up of 3 different sections to provide both strength and ride quality. It made me think of this thread. I did a little digging and found this article. http://www.tundraheadquarters.com/blog/toyota-tundra-bed-bounce-issue-our-position/ Appears this isn't the only truck to ever have vibration issues. Give me hope that GM will eventually get a fix figured out.
  2. You must live somewhere warm.
  3. Gathered this info when I was looking to trade in my 2005 for a 2014 and noticed most on the lots had 3.08's. My 2005 w/ 3.42's always felt strong pulling my ~4000lb 18.5' boat so I wanted to make sure I was getting something I felt was going to be similar. The 6 speed with 3.08 gears of my 2014 is better in every gear vs the 4 speed with 3.42 gears that was in my 2005. I added larger tires on both so you can see the real ratio with those. 6 speed (265/70R17, 31.6") 1st: 4.03 x 3.08 = 12.41 2nd: 2.36 x 3.08 = 7.27 3rd: 1.53 x 3.08 = 4.71 4th: 1.15 x 3.08 = 3.54 5th: .85 x 3.08 = 2.62 6th: .67 x 3.08 = 2.06 6 speed (285/70R17, 32.7") 1st: 4.03 x 2.98 = 12.00 2nd: 2.36 x 2.98 = 7.032 3rd: 1.53 x 2.98 = 4.559 4th: 1.15 x 2.98 = 3.427 5th: .85 x 2.98 = 2.533 6th: .67 x 2.98 = 1.996 4 speed (265/70R17, 31.6") 1st: 3.06 x 3.42 = 10.465 2nd: 1.75 x 3.42 = 5.985 3rd: 1.00 x 3.42 = 3.42 4th: .70 x 3.42 = 2.394 4 speed (285/70R17, 32.7") 1st: 3.06 x 3.3 = 10.098 2nd: 1.75 x 3.3 = 5.775 3rd: 1.00 x 3.3 = 3.3 4th: .70 x 3.3 = 2.31 Pretty interesting data to me.
  4. Wow, dipping down into the 10's. Mines still pretty new (2014 dbl cab, 4wd, 3.08). First 4 tanks of 87 I averaged 15.5. My last 4 tanks of E85 I've averaged 13.6.
  5. Part of me wishes I never stumbled upon this thread and was just obliviously and rhythmically vibrating down the road jiving to my stereo without a care in the world unaware that the cause of my shaking was due to an unexplainable underlying issue of my trucks design. Unfortunately that's not the case. I'm fairly certain it's not my tires fault. They are Toyo Open Country AT2's which I'm not sure if you guys on here consider these a sh**y brand but I really like them and with less than 4000 miles on them I had the dealer swap them off my 2005 I was trading in and put them on my new 2014. My 2005 did not vibrate with these tires. I agree that I dont think we should have to buy new tires for a brand new expensive truck but the reality is every new vehicle I've ever bought I thought had sh**y tires on them and I've struggled with the decision to ride them out for 2-3 years and have to look at the darm things everyday or just bit the financial bullet and buy new ones I liked. I lucked out this time being able to swap.
  6. I was wondering that same thing today. I had it in auto 4wd with the snow also and I kept noticing the vibration on the freeway. More so than other days. I tried switching between auto 4wd and 2wd to see if I could notice a difference and I could not. But I don't know exactly how the autotrac system works with disengaging the front on the fly while rolling down the road so maybe a bad test.
  7. I thought I read somewhere that E85 was fine for use with the Diablo tune but can't find it now. Did this get answered? Are HP & torque gains the same with E85 vs 93?
  8. I've owned my 2014 Silverado Double Cab 4x4 Z71 5.3 build date 7/14 for a month now and currently has about 1500 miles on it. I too seem to have the 73mph vibration. But I think mine is not that bad and I don't notice it that much, possibly masked by the large LT285/70R17 tires I've had installed since driving it off the dealer lot, but it is definitely there at around 73mph. A little more noticeable at that speed when you are going uphill. I can feel the vibration in the seat, the petal, and the center of the steering wheel. I haven't really noticed it at lower speeds. My 2005 I traded in with the exact same tires did not do this. I tend to not drive over about 65 so I dont encounter it much. Odd vibration though, I can vary my speed a little and it changes slightly or lessons in intensity. With not a lot of luck by most in here having their dealership or GM finding a resolution I'm not even going to bother asking my dealership to look into it. If it gets worse maybe. I did ask them and about it and the service guys just shook his head like he knew what I was talking about but hesitated to say anything. I'm sure he was probably hoping to avoid me asking them to fix it. Drove past the Ford dealer next door to it and noticed a line of new Chevy and GMC's sitting on their lot. I've not had any other issues with the truck other than the onstar remotelink app not displaying the remote start feature. Otherwise I really like the new truck. I hope you guys with the worse vibration and shaking issues get it resolved. I'm keeping any eye on this thread.
