  1. Made some changes to mine recently. Trimmed up the front valance, added tow mirrors, and a rearview camera backup kit. Next on my agenda is to plasti dip my front bow tie. Rear one was removed long ago.
  2. That's a little scary. I'm just going to avoid reading those forums, lol. Do you know if its the trinity's with the more issues or the intunes also? I guess the bright side is they can bring your pcm back to life. Sucks you gotta go thru this though. I've settle on a tune setup so once my free oil changes are up I'll probably just leave it installed long term and not touch it for oh the next 7-8 years.
  3. Wow that sucks. I'm a little surprised. I've used the diablosport intune on my previous 2005 and now my 2014 and have had nothing but great luck. I really like it. I've swapped tunes back and forth, going from both stock to tune and tune to tune never any issues. So it crapped out going from stock trying to put on a tune? What did they say they think is causing this? Where is the PCM located to take out?
  4. I bought the backup camera kit from www.cubbycam.com which seems like very good quality. It came with the tailgate handle with camera, which was prety simple to remove the access panel on the inside of the tailgate and swap out. It had a harness that ran from the back up to the underside the drivers side area which again was pretty straight forward I just followed the existing harness that ran along the outside of the drivers side frame using zip ties every 12 inches to hold it to the other harness. I had to pull up the carpet and drill a 1" hole in the floor on the drivers side for the harness to come up thru. This made me nervous but it had a rubber grommet and some sealant paste stuff to seal it up good. The replacement onstar mirror that has the camera image imbedded I swapped out and by removing the center overhead console which come out really easy, basically just pulls down and a couple screws. I then fished the new mirror harness above the headliner over to the drivers side pillar. I had to remove the visor, 3 screws, and the plastic pillar piece which come off easy too. Finished fishing that harness down the pillar and then down under the dash. The camera harness and the mirror harness connect under the drivers side dash. The last part, which again made me a little nervous was I had to splice (I used the t-tap connectors) into two existing wires of the truck that went into the BCM. In all it took me a few hours going slow and being careful.
  5. We take a pic of your rear and post it up here so we can see it. Haha.
  6. I looked thru here and didn't see anyone who's changed out their taillights. Has anyone done this? Seems like smoke or clear lenes would go good with silver.
  7. I'll pass on the E2-X can if it only has a drain hole in bottom. I love being able to unscrew the can and take a look inside. Besides that mines collects a fair amount. I'll be sticking with the original. And emptying it every weekend this winter.....
  8. Added onto my tow mirror upgrade with a backup camera kit that is in the rearview mirror. Which I actually prefer, feels more natural while backing up since I'm already using my mirrors and I don't have to look down at the radio area. I've gotta say I really like these two upgrades I did. Money well spend in my book. The camera install which beforehand seemed a little intimidating to me ended up going very smoothly. It took me a few hours as I really took my time taking the interior apart and getting it all hooked up. Very happy with how this project turned out.
  9. Well they can be a little difficult. There is the little cover piece down in the grab handle part that hides a bolt. I had trouble getting that out since I didn't have a correct tool for it. That hockey stick shaped shiny panel section in the center right below the grab handle snaps off with little metal clips. For some reason all my clips separated from the plastic panel piece and were difficult to get back on. One clip partially broke so the panel on one end does not hold as tight as before. I honestly stopped at that point. I did not want to risk breaking something just to remove the entire door panel. So I ended up just poping the top corner nearest the mirror out and then pulling back the trim around the window to give myself barely enough access to get my hand down inside the door to unclip the harness. I just bought the basic tow mirrors so power adjust and heat, no power extend, fold, or blinkers. Same as what I originally had with the stock mirrors.
  10. That looks awesome. Do you have to remove the bow tie to paint it or just tape it up good and spray? I was going to order just the normal black but this looks really nice.
  11. Added the basic tow mirrors this morning. I have to say it is a bigger pain in the rear to install these than it seems like it should be. Why stuff the wiring harness halfway down the door behind the door trim panels. Makes a quick easy task into much more work. But all went well in the end. I cheated and only took the panels partly off and wedged my hands behind to release the harness and pull the clips out.
  12. I live in MI and in the winter it would fill up in less than 500 miles. It's mostly a very watery mixture but I drive at least 350 mi to work each week so I was dumping it out every weekend.
  13. I basically stumbled upon what catch cans were due to my wife's Acadia having issues. What a mess that was. So as soon as I got my truck I decided better safe than sorry. I think you'll be happy with the Elite can, seems to do a good job. My only wish would be they had made the can like twice as big so you don't have to empty it so offer in the winter season. I see they say the E2 is larger, about double maybe so that'll be nice. Anyone know If you can get a longer replacement bottom portion for the 1st gen can?
  14. Another thing I noticed while looking at the 2015's and 2016's on the lot yesterday is that they all had 18" wheels. Even the "all star edition" package that seems to be very popular around here and most trucks had included includes 18" wheels where I swear back in 2014 when I was looking at trucks the "all star edition" packages came with the 20" or 22" wheels. I wonder If they can mask the vibes more with the smaller wheel and taller tire sidewall.
  15. And back on topic after I got my free oil change and tire rotation today, oh they also did recalls on the rear brake lines and 4x4 transfer case reprogramming, my petal vibe/buzz felt worse. My guess is due to the tire rotation. They still say what I feel is due to stiff suspension/Rancho shocks and my larger Toyo LT AT2 tires....
  16. I agree. Most trucks look better lifted, lol. One of the reasons I test drove the 2016 HD. That thing sat at a nice height.
  17. I was specifically want to drive ones with max tow and tow mirrors and none of the 2016's were that and I ran out of time before I had to go back to work.
  18. Oddly all the 2016's I looked at today, z71 DC's and CC's all seemed to have the 5.3 with a 6 speed.
  19. I was at my Chevy dealer today. They had at least a dozen 2016's on the lot. I spoke with one of the sales people and asked a numbered of questions about suspension, engine, tranny, tow packages, etc and I was told that the 1500 2016 changes are all just cosmetic. Even the 6 speed is still standard. I did drive a New 2016 HD CC 4x4 which was an awesome ride, no vibes at all. If only it wasn't $60k. I also drove a 2015 DC z71 and it also drove nice, well past 80mph and it was pretty smooth. It didn't have the petal vibe/buzz that my 2014 has.
  20. I agree it's a pain to deal with scheduling fix attempts. I have 5 different Chevy dealers within 15 minutes of my house or work but got it from one 40 minutes away because I really do like the dealership and service department there, they've been great. The drive there not so great. I just feel like their hands are tied by GM on what they can do to try and get these issues resolved. They've flat out told me multiple times we can't do this or we can't do that because GM won't let us. What a crock.
  21. Same here. Steel control arms, flimsy skid plate, crappy shocks but man do I like the "appearance" of the Z71 package.
  22. I agree with Darkfox and TigerTW0014. WTF GM. Let your dealerships make money on upgrades. Geesh. It's hard to find that perfect truck. Not everyone can custom order one up. Sometimes we realize we want something more later. Tow mirrors, brake control, backup camera, etc. $ $ $ that the dealers are missing out on cus GM won't let em reprogram. I guess I needed to vent too.
  23. I have larger LT AT tires and they told me GM engineer would not look at it with the non stock size tires. My dealer actually swapped my tires back to stock size from another truck on the lot while they tested mine. In the end they blamed my tires. So yeah depending on your service department they may give you some crap about em.
  24. You guys are not the only ones. I have the annoying gas petal vibration / buzzing at freeway speeds. Its so odd, at 65 I can't feel it but at 67, 68, 69, 70, ... It increases in intensity and does not go away. I use cruise control a lot due to it. My dealer saw my larger LT AT tires and said we can't test it with those on there. They apparently swapped em out with a different truck on the lot and said pico reading were "within spec" with factory tires and blamed my larger tire, the "weak?" 3.08 rear end and v4 mode for what I was feeling and said nothing could be done about it (like everyone else here they did rebalance my tires though). I get a decent shake on rougher roads too at around 50-55. Not sure if that is more normal and just crappy Rancho shocks or what? I gotta go in for an oil change so I plan to bring it up again this next week.
  25. Ah, medium, my least used acceleration. Haha. I'm either savin gas or wasting it. Glad to hear it's shifting better. So does adding to the shift pressure make it more like the hard shift vs the firm shift?
