Custom built bike rack over bed
Darmichar replied to Chris Stierman's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Mods
If the brackets on the side were a few more inches taller vertically, a roll up vinyl cover would probably roll right under that rack. Awesome work on the rack! EDIT: Nevermind, forgot about the rails the roll up covers need on the bed rails to roll on. -
2014 Sierra/Silverado Bulb Sizes
Darmichar replied to MotoMedic's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Mods
I just think the camera is garbage. I have the stock license plate lights but have the Putco bar with reverse lights and it washes the camera out at night too. -
As the title says, what's some aftermarket LED tail lights you've had good luck with. I knocked a hole in the drivers side OEM assembly so figure there's no time like the present to upgrade to LED. Would prefer lights with the hyperflash resistor already wired in but I'm open to options as well.

Suggestions on a cut cross member
Darmichar replied to Carlos Cadenas's topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Mods
You do realize they literally buy a frame, set it next to the truck then move everything from the old frame to the new frame? I got rear ended a little over a year ago and the body shop was telling me what would happen if the frame was bent (it wasn't). Kudos to the Dealer for stepping up on this one but I'd also be looking for an extended warranty to cover any issues from the frame swap as well. -
Thank you, sir. That is the answer I was looking for.

I think this is true with anything that stays plugged into the OBD-II port. I used to use the Automatic sensor for vehicle monitoring in my 2014 and briefly in my 2018 and whenever it was installed, OnStar reports would be blocked.

There is a post here somewhere from about a year or so ago of someone adding these to their truck. Did a quick search and wasn't able to find it.

I'm sure this has been covered, but at 78 pages and on a slow connection, I'm not currently able to read them all. I have a 2018 with the jump seat. My neighbor just got a 2016 with the center console that he wants to trade. Both are non-Bose, non e-assist. Would we both need to get harnesses for the swap or just me going from the jump seat to the console? Having access to his truck, is there a harness in it that I could take to make the swap work without having to buy a harness, and not leaving him with inoperable USB/Aux?

This. We road trip in the truck a lot and the ability for my wife to work and my daughter to watch her iPad in the back make the unlimited 4G well worth the $20/month.

Anyone run into this before...
Darmichar replied to LB-'s topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Troubleshooting
They installed "A" steel lower A-arm or "THE" steel lower A-arm? Was it aftermarket or OEM? If it's aftermarket, the material doesn't matter as long as the geometry is correct. -
Yup. That rendered this little feature utterly useless to me.

We have clearance, Clarence.

Im on a boat take a look at me!
Darmichar replied to Charles P.'s topic in 2014-2018 Silverado & Sierra Mods
Seeing as how I quoted you saying exactly that, yes, I do realize we are talking about a 70MPH bump with 6" of compression. -

Actually, they are. I had them on my 2014 and that's exactly what improved over the garbage shocks that came on it stock. There was no rebound control with the stock shocks, the Bilstein's could take a pretty big 'hit' and not bounce, just take the truck back to ride height. -
Speed Limited ???????
Darmichar replied to Phil Mac's topic in 2014-2019 Engine, Driveline, & Exhaust
My 2014 5.3L was limited to 98. My 2018 5.3L has a limit beyond what I have been comfortable pushing the truck to so far.
