  1. Well I decided to hold off on the tonneau for the time being. I made the decision to spend the money on Line-X since I didn't get the factory bed liner. I decided to go with the bed liner first because when I moved a wooden headboard last weekend and the wood scratched the paint down to the primer. I was shocked at how soft the paint was. The truck is 2 months old so I figured it was plenty of time for the paint to finally cure and harden but I guess not. But when I was talking to the guys at the Line-X, who are "authorized dealers and installers" for many tonneau covers, they actually tried to persuade me to NOT get the G4. They mentioned they had a bad experience with the manufacturer once so they will never go back. Of course this is one brand and model they don't offer so doesn't surprise me they would try and discredit it. They do offer the undercover flex and what do you know, they tried to sell me one. I'm also convinced that GM wouldn't offer the G4 without thoroughly vetting the product.
  2. I kept the stock filter, didn't see a point in spending the money to replace a filter that had 500 miles on it on a brand new truck.
  3. I'm not sure what there is to warranty, it's just a plastic tube. But yes, it will fit the 2016 because I just installed it on my truck. Maybe I should email Airaid and let them know the MIT fits with zero issues...
  4. The Airaid MIT for the 2015 fits on the 2016. There were no design changes under the hood. I just installed the MIT on my 2016 a few weeks ago.
  5. Well shoot. Guess I'll be adding that to my list of things to do. Thanks!
  6. Without digging through this entire thread, does anyone know of a running board that closely resembles that of the Ford Raptor? I would like to find a set that hugs close to the body, and offers some protection for the rockers from rocks and road debris.
  7. I'll probably place the order next week when I get back from my work trip. The higher profile doesn't bother me so much, plus it should help with diverting water away from the bed. I've read a lot of good things about the G4 and fortunately there's a guy in the office who has one on his high country so at least I've been able to see one in person.
  8. Ah screw it, I think I'll just get the G4.
  9. I could be mistake but I thought I saw a picture and read some discussion in this thread about fiberglass separating from the resin. Then again they could have been talking about an entirely different tonneau cover as well.
  10. I did consider the Undercover, but am leaning more towards aluminum panels because I don't want the fiberglass to separate or discolor. And I figured what ever problems I'd have with the Bak I'd have with the Undercover since they are almost identical. I know that no folding cover is 100% waterproof but it seems that there are numerous people who have experienced excessive water intrusion with the Bak or similar covers.
  11. I actually ruled that one out fairly early in my research for that exact reason and that the water channels are the entire length of the bed.
  12. Now that I have the extra money to buy a tonneau cover, I can't decide what I want. I thought I had settled on the Fold-A-Cover G4 but now I'm second guessing myself mainly because of the cost, the money I save with the Bakflip could buy me another AR15 lower. And I've been noticing more Bak G2's or similar covers around town lately because I've been looking. So here is my dilemma: I like the Bakflip G2 because its aluminum, easily removed in a matter of minutes with no tools, lower cost than G4 (although its just a $160 cheaper) , low profile and several of the panels latch into place adding to the security. What I don't like about it are the drain tubes in the bed, the repeated bad reviews on how water leaks into the bed, the rubber hinges, tri-fold, and folding it up against back window when needing to use the full bed. I hardly ever need 100% access to the bed anymore so that wouldn't concern me so much. The G4 is also aluminum but also a quad fold, allowing better incremental room to the bed when folding. However I wish each panel had it's own latch. Also being able to open the front panel would be handy, lockable (although this can be a disadvantage as well if you forget to lock it), no drain tubes, piano hinges, sits above the bed allowing better water drainage and preventing more water from entering the bed, and offered by GM as an option. Sometimes I hate first world problems.
  13. . I must have caught the tail end of a promotion then. I'm glad I bought it when I did.
  14. Well before I started reading this thread I already a few hard folding covers in mind..... But after reading/skimming this thread, it's obvious I should just go with the Fold A Cover G4 (which was on my list to begin with) I liked the looks of the Bak/Undercover/Gator but it appears to many people are having to many issues with these covers. I guess once I sell the dirt bike I should have enough funds for the G4.
  15. The Airaid MIT I ordered through JET.com showed up right as I got home. Since I have the clean side separator from Elite, I had to change out the fittings. It took me longer to find the correct fittings than it did to actually install it. Took maybe 10 minutes to install. I'm disappointed the intake wasn't louder with the new tube, but it sounds much better than stock. There appears to be a noticeable increase in throttle response but it could just be imagining a difference since it sounds louder. But regardless, for $120 I can't complain.
  16. In case anyone is looking to purchase a new intake, Jet.com has a 15% discount (15NOW) for first time buyers. They had the Airaid MIT for $139 and once you add the promo it came out to $118. I was going to wait until next month to buy one, but couldn't pass up the deal. I'm sure it would have been better to bundle a few things into the promo like a rear floor liner but the budget wouldn't allow it! lol
  17. That's one of 2 videos I've been able to find on how the tuner works, but he doesn't go into a lot of detail. With as popular as this tuner appears to be for our trucks, I'm surprised there aren't more videos out there with a GM vehicle.
  18. Anyone with a Diablo tuner willing to make a video of them tunning their truck? I haven't been able to find a lot of videos of the turner itself, just before and after runs of the vehicle. I'm would like to see the tuner actually being used and some of the features it offers and maybe talking through some of the screens.
  19. Ok, I knew I was probably wrong! Thanks for the clarification!
  20. Well I guess in this case some is better than none. It hasn't been delivered yet, so maybe I can return it for the E2-X. Maybe I can convince my buddy to buy the E2 and I'll upgrade to the E2-X!
  21. So what is different about the E2-X and the E2? I ordered the E2 this week and it should be here Friday. After reading this, I'm almost having second thoughts about the E2. It seems like the E2 works just fine for our trucks, but wasn't sure what made the E2-X the best for our trucks. But I only have 550 miles on as of this evening so I shouldn't have much to worry about. Heck, I'm still on my second tank of gas! I know being in Nebraska I will have to drain the can more often, and fortunately my truck gets parked in the garage so I shouldn't have to worry about the overnight freeze, just during the day when I'm at work.
  22. Well looks like the Airaid MIT is the best bang for the buck. Catch can and clean side spearator this month, Airaid MIT next month! The Volant I had on my 2008 Frontier really opened her up and growled. Paired with a Banks Monster Exhaust she would yell pretty loud at WOT. I probably won't put an exhaust on this truck, at least for a few years, but I'm looking forward to replacing the stock shoe box.
  23. Well now that I am thoroughly confused after reading 53 pages of this.... Im going to need a beer. I bought a 2016 Silverado with the 5.3 as a birthday gift to myself 2 weeks ago and instantly began looking for ways to make it better. I immediately noticed the terrible throttle response and soft shitting and knew it needed to be changed. The only programmers I've ever used, or had any experience with were plug and play types. My buddy has a hypertech for his 2011 Silverado so I've been able to mess with it a bit. Unfortunately the cost, either custom or handheld, is a little more than I can afford right now so it's going to have to wait. But glad to see that I'm not the only one worried about the warranty issue. This is my first new vehicle so I'm hesitant to tune. But what the hell right, why not? So if I understand this correctly, and I'm probably wrong, Diablo is sort of a semi custom tune with a hand held? The Diablo will allow the end user a little more access to tweak/tune a few features than a programmer like bully dog or edge would, which have preset tunes, correct? the end user can seamlessly switch back and forth between stock and tuned when taking to the dealership? And black bear is a custom tune which requires the end user to drive a designated amount of time allowing for the data logging. The data is then sent back to black bear with the list of changes we would like to see. And then flashed back onto the truck. But of course since I've only had the truck a few days all the terminology and abbreviations are confusing the heck out of me. AFM, active fuel management? Is this v4 vs v8 mode? And it sounds like it's best to have this deactivated. Torque management? If I read correctly, there is a TM for the transmission and the engine? What the purpose of this? And clearly the shift points and throttle need a tremendous amount of correction so the truck has better drive ability. I have no problem wrenching on or building cars. I've built or rebuilt several cars trucks tractors and motorcycles already, I come from a farming background so it comes naturally. But when it comes to all this ECM tuning it is way over my head. I prefer carburetors. **Edit: I realized I was an idiot and forgot about the other pinned thread literally titiled Active Fuel Management. So that answered one question. Lol
