  1. 2018 Silverado 1500. 5.3 liter, 3.42 rear end, 6 speed. 58 mile round trip commute which includes everything from stop and go in traffic to 75 MPH on 15 miles of Interstate with stop and go there too (I-10 Bayway over Mobile Bay). On the Chevy app it shows 22.0 MPG lifetime at 23,603 miles. 400 mile average shows 24.3 this morning. I don't bother to hand calculate.
  2. Park the truck in the shade. Wet the front end down. Spray on some Wesley's Bleach White. Let it work for a couple of minutes and the rub it with a wet mircrofiber towel. Make sure to wash all traces of the Westley's off with soapy water. Bugs are highly acidic. Westley's is high alkaline. Westley's neutralizes the acid in the bugs and they come off.
  3. "They " don't make the harnesses. GM corporate and dealerships will tell you it can't be done. The guy that started this post 67 pages ago makes them. One guy, his sideline. He has been generous enough to share his knowledge time after making modifications using his own truck as a test mule. Your only hope is that Phil (HarnessDr.com) and/or Tinkeringfox will get crazy and trade their trucks for a new model and start the experimentation again. Thanks again Phil, all 3 of the harnesses I purchased from you are still going strong !! Seriously thinking about number 4, the dimming mirror upgrade !
  4. Maybe to the paint scheme, but a real big no friggin' way to the oversize wheels and tires. Just no.
  5. Either that or the Butterball messed with their heads !
  6. Maybe the flashing lights will keep the turkeys off of your hood ! ?
  7. Will this take the place of a lighted Bowtie in your grill ??
  8. Another big Thank You to Phil Gamboa !! Well worth buying the complete harness to have things go so smooth. DL8 to DL3 swap took me about an hour and a half taking my time. All functions working as they are supposed to. The power fold will take some getting used to ! Only problems encountered were working with old eyes and progressive lenses focusing in the door jambs and getting the old harnesses stuffed in the box to ship back for the refund !! Now I've got 3 of Phil's harnesses in my truck. First was the jump seat to console and now one in each front door for the mirror swap. Thinking about the auto dim rear view mirror since the DL3 driver's mirror a got is auto dim ready........ Thanks again Phil for sharing your knowledge and time for these upgrades !!
  9. There are 2 listings for the 23154702 switch on Ebay. One seller in Atlanta has them listed for $1,128.98 plus shipping. They must be gold plated. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-2018-Silverado-Sierra-Door-Power-Fold-Switch-23154702-Genuine-OEM-GM/264023887442?hash=item3d790cce52:g:pzEAAOSwEGpb34QF One in Wisconsin has them listed for $29.34 plus shipping. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Power-Folding-Mirror-Switch-OEM-Factory-GM-Truck-SUV-15-17/223852479088?epid=656212955&hash=item341ea5c270:g:0ecAAOSwx3VeC18m
  10. Equals 1FunCobra !! Enjoy ! The truck pulled great up to around 3500-4000 RPMs but with the profile of a brick and the restriction in air flow caused by the Motorcraft 2 BBL, stock air cleaner, and functioning EGR valve pushing the pedal much further had limited returns. It was fun in the mud !
  11. What are you putting the 351M in ? Had one in a 77-1/2 F-250 4 wheel drive. Ran a Crane Econopower cam with adjustable push rods and the stock 2 BBL Motorcraft carb with some wicked advance on the distributor. With 4.10 gearing and 36 in Grad Prix tires that lightweight surprised lots of folks.
  12. He was trying to take a picture of the moon but the phone auto-focused on the cluster instead !! ?
  13. My experience was that there was interference with a wiring harness and it was a real pain reaching up under there. 1/4" shallow socket on a ratchet was so tight it kept reversing itself on the back side of the dash and ratcheting wrench could only take small bites. Since you will already have the trim bezel and the radio screen removed why not take four more screws loose and make things easy? Once you have the trim bezel off you'll see what I'm talking about. Your hands will also thank you. It also opens things up so you can see better routing for the USB cable you have to run to the HMI. The most worry-some part of the whole job for me was getting the radio trim bezel off. I thought for sure I had snapped it 3 or 4 times but it was just another clip coming loose. I found it easier to start at the bottom and work up. Slow and steady pressure worked for me. If you are unsure of what you are doing take a picture of every step of disassembly for reference. It forces you to focus on the job one small task at a time instead of being overwhelmed by the whole thing.
  14. I did mine without removing any bolts from either seat. From start to finish removing jump seat to console installed in just under 2 hours. I had previously installed then removed the same console from my RCSB so I had a feel for what I was doing, plus I've been working on cars for 47 years. The one thing I do recommend removing is the multi-function switch under the head unit. It makes installing the front console bracket so much easier ! Move both seats all of the way back and remove the front jumpseat bolts, then move both seats all of the way forward and remove the rear jumpseat bolts. Roll the jumpseat on it's nose. Reach under the passenger seat and pull the little piece of plastic that the jumpseat connectors are clipped to off of the studs it slips over then disconnect them. The rest is in Phil's video. Doing it my way there is no risk of scratching the door jambs with the seat tracks when removing the seats from the truck. You don't have to pick up and move the seats. And you don't disconnect the airbags and risk upsetting the airbag gods. I'm 60 years old, 5'10", and 185 # so no spring chicken. By the way, I used no power tools.
  15. Wish i had a better picture but I no longer have the truck. This is what the console should look like in a regular cab. This was a 2016 RCSB WT. The cab is the same as the 2500. Initially I had some fitment problems like this because of interference with a wiring harness near the top mounting holes of the front bracket so I pulled the multi-function switch out to see what the problem was. Once I cleared the harness out of the way the bracket pulled up tight. It's also a heck of a lot easier to get to the 2 upper bolts with the switch out of the way.
  16. Installed my "Leveling Kit" and took it out for a few hours !
  17. 2 pushes of the tailgate icon on the fob will lower the aluminum tailgate.
  18. The 2019 loaner I am driving has the power tailgate lock and lower. There is no provision to raise the tailgate, at least not on this LT. There is no tailgate "handle" either, just a push button in the middle of the piece of plastic that houses the back up camera lenses. Push the button and the tailgate lowers slowly.
  19. Head over to keywestboatsforum.com. Lots of good info in the Trailers and Tow Vehicles section about what all of us are towing our Key West boats with. I'm pulling my 176 CC (17'7") Key West with my 2018 5.3L, 6 speed, 3.42 geared Silverado LT with factory towing package and no trailer brakes. No issues with starting or stopping.
  20. More about these mirrors please. Are they offered in colors other than black ? I have a set of factory DL3 mirrors to put on my 2018 Silverado LT but these look interesting.
  21. Pulled this home with it !
  22. iPhone XR in a Spec case will not lay flat but charges fine with the Qi charger installed in the console lid. Charging indicator in the display indicates charge as does the phone. XR is 3.2" wide in the Spec case. iPhone 8 plus is 3.07" wide without a case according to Apple.
  23. You've documented on a public forum that your truck has brake issues and continue to drive it hoping maybe it won't happen again. If it were my truck it would be at the dealer to be fixed and I'd be stacking miles on their loaner. No start. No problem. Wonky transmission. It'll still move. Wonky brakes. No way I'm driving it. A year and a half ago I hit something in the road that cut the left rear brake flex hose in half while I was travelling 70 MPH. The redundant safety of the dual master cylinder allowed me to get the truck stopped. $150.00 dollars for the repair including labor, $150.00 dollars for the new seat cover.... Even at today ridiculous prices, I 'm still worth more than any truck.
  24. I think the Millenial design teams have been doing too many drugs, playing too many video games, and getting too many participation trophies. Hopefully the real world will teach them what failure is.
