Blind spot mirror recommendations
Enough replied to Baker17's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
I ordered this one NXTGEN Automotive. A fellow forum member suggested it. I haven't driven the truck enough to check out how clear it is. Honestly kind of disappointed something designed specifically for this mirror does not really "fit". The angle on the upper right corner is wrong so that it does not line up with the outer edges of the mirror. I thought about painting the clear outer frame flat black but decided to try it for a while first. It's supposed to be glass as opposed plastic so for 15 bucks it's worth a shot. -
New 2023 5.3 with DFM.
Enough replied to Jimbeau's topic in Engines & Drivetrain (V8, Duramax, TurboMax)
2020 Silverado 5.3 LT with 52,250 miles and no issues other than the idler pulley. Had the transmission flushed and fluid changed at 50,000 miles. My truck was a transfer from another dealer with 2,200 miles on it at the beginning of Covid. It's one of the trucks that has the DFM chip. My dealer had 4 trucks on the lot when their usual inventory was 100 + units. Made in Mexico ! 58 miles round trip commute from stop and go to 15 miles in I-10 at 75 MPH ( including the tunnel in Mobile ) . 23.2 MPG so far this week with 98-100 air temps ain't to shabby. 450 miles on the present tank of gas and have at least another 50 miles left. Best tank so far was 25 MPG and over 550 miles before refueling. it may go up in a ball of flames tomorrow but so far I'm pretty happy with it ! -
100K Mile Service Suggestions
Enough replied to Minnvmax's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
You must be on the wrong forum.... everybody on this forum has had 157 lifters and pushrods replaced, is on their second engine and transmission replacement, third blown A/C compressor, second oil cooler line, third rear glass replacement, etc. , etc. in the first 40,000 miles ! Thanks for coming on and posting positive news !!! Congrats on the 100K ! I'm at 52K. Idler pulley and belt replaced and rear window leak fixed. 5.3 with 22.3 MPG average to this point. Reading most of this forum I expected mine to blow up out from underneath me like a cheap Chinese firework ! Fluid changes, belts and hoses, plugs, water pump, and the other things mentioned in other post should be the ticket. Most important do what you have been doing for the past 100K. Your truck likes it !! -

Rust on factory GMC bed liner
Enough replied to Alabama's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
Do you have a lawn sprinkler system at home or at work that "irrigates" your truck too ? I have a friend in Florida that had something similar happen the the whole front clip of the 2017 Silverado. Turned out the water in his neighborhood had a high iron content and his sprinklers doused his truck every time they turned on. The water dried quickly when it hit the hot sheet metal and left traces of iron behind. He ended up putting a filtration system in his water line. The truck was professionally cleaned with oxalic acid then buffed. Look good as new. I know this solution will not work with bedliner but your tap water may be the cause. -
Whining Sound from Enginer Bay 5.3 V8 Silverado 1500
Enough replied to Varkan's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
Mine was the idler pulley. 2020 Silverado 5.3 with 49,500 miles. Sounded like an old power steering pump low on fluid and going bad. Dealer replaced the idler pulley and belt under warranty. Noise gone ! -
28 years in the Collision Repair Industry. Unless there was personal injury or death, your insurance company will pay off per their guidelines, write off their loss, and send the truck to a dismantler/salvage yard, Given the condition of the truck post fire it is not worth the insurance company's time and effort to investigate the cause of the fire. Manufacturer feels the same way. Cheaper just to pay off and move on. Cost/benefit ratio. The world we live in now.

I have to go into parking garages from time to time. The factory antenna has saved my roof a couple of times in poorly measured parking decks a couple of times. The sound it makes scraping across concrete gets your attention quickly. Like fingernails on a chalkboard.

If "@GMCustomerService" was really interested they would contact me directly. I've seen them post this response to so many issues and never seen any follow up so it don't thing it's legit. As far as taking it to my dealer, in some far off fantasy land dealers supply loaners when you have to leave your truck in the shop for service. When that fairy tale comes true I'll leave my truck at the dealer. Until then I'll hope someone in this forum comes up with an answer.

The difference in pedal height does take getting used to. At 42,000 miles I just about have it figured out ! If you have a manual tilt steering wheel it may also might be a telescoping steering wheel. I have to be honest and say my wife showed me this feature after she drove the truck for a week. When I got behind the wheel something was off. I could not figure out why I couldn't get comfortable until she mentioned she had moved the steering wheel back about 3 inches !

63 year old with 2020 LT and non-Bose system. Have used various lead spewing devices with limited hearing protection at times so .... I have also noticed the rear speakers in my crew cab have very little output. Maybe the truck is designed that way but I would prefer more sound coming from the back seat. The fader seems fairly useless as most of the sound comes from up front no matter how far I adjust the fader to the rear.. Granted my butt is normally planted in the drivers seat but I still would like to be able hear the rear speakers.

BDS PROJECT VELOCITY LT REAR COILOVER
Enough replied to Ronjon's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
Nice little teaser for those that like to go fast off road. Most notable to me is that a company that designs and builds suspensions chose to use a 17" wheel package with 37" tires. Nice sidewall height to help absorb impacts instead of those silly ass rubber bands on a blingy drum. Well played BDS !!- 4 replies

lower glove box wont unlock
Enough replied to Tim Cook's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
May help, may not. I just went out and looked at my lower glovebox. Until I read your post I had forgotten it was lockable. The key only goes in about 5/8". Some of the "cut" still shows when the key is fully inserted. The key only turns 1/4 of a turn. Up and down is unlocked, sideways is locked. All of the mechanism is covered by the inner liner of the glovebox so there is no linkage exposed to get jammed. The pins that latch the box closed are totally surrounded and look impossible to get to from outside of the dash. The latch pins are right in that bend near the top of the glovebox door. Try pushing in on the ends while trying to turn the key. Your may need a second set of hands. Good luck ! -
Buying Tires From Walmart
Enough replied to vancealot29's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
I've bought 2 sets of cheap tires from Wal Mart. First was a set of Uniroyal Liberators I put on a 1995 F150. They balanced with very little weight and stayed true until I got rid of the truck a couple of years later. I was honestly pretty impressed with them. Second set now 4 years old on my back up 1995 Nissan Hardbody. 14" Hancook Optimo H/T. The glazed donut you ate for breakfast is probably larger in diameter than these tires but they are just as well balanced as the tires on my 2020 Silverado. They were $210.00 for the set of 4 mounted and balanced 4 years ago. This truck also gets it's oil changes at Walmart so I am really rolling the dice with them. -
I'm in the fix it camp. Don't start down the slippery slope of "it's a truck" unless you plan to keep it forever. If it was just a truck you would have bought a 2000 beater and not even mentioned the "scratch" on this forum. The fact that you are posting on this forum says fix it ! Take care of your "baby" !

Humming Noise In Rear After Shut Off
Enough replied to cabledude's topic in Troubleshooting, Warranty & Recalls
Don't stay in the truck too long after shutting it down. Mine sounds like there is someone building an interstate highway behind the dash 5 minutes or so after shut down. Bumps, clicks, buzzing, whistling, etc.. I just cringe and walk away ! -
I'm 100% with you Transient ! My wife's 2015 Highlander has adaptive cruise and I hate it. I am very happy my 2020 Silverado does not have it !!

Head to an auto dismantler, wrecking yard, pick-n-pull, whatever you have in your area and grab a pair out of a wrecked truck. Back in 2019 when my 2018 broke down for the second time my dealer put me in an loaner 2019 LT (new Body Style) without liners. Every time the tires threw up a large rock it sounded like something vital flew off and hit the truck. One time it was so bad I pulled off of the interstate and did a walk around to make sure the truck was ok. I had the truck for 10 days and never got used to it. (my 2018 had liners) When I bought my 2020 LT the liners were the first dealer installed option I checked.

Permanent fix for lifter collapse
Enough replied to Big_Kahuna's topic in Modifications, Wheels & Tires
For the folks that got the $50.00 rebate because your truck does not have the "chip" to make the AFM components function remember that all of those components are in your engine, just not functioning as they were designed to. There have been and will continue to be documented failures on those components on "chipless" trucks as well as those like mine with the full bag of chips. As others have mentioned there are kits to replace all of the internals with non AFM components. If I still have my truck and the lifter failure occurs out of warranty I'll spend the money on the "delete" kit. Cost will probably be lower than going with OEM parts that are failure prone and labor is what it is. -
Red locking clip for the dial connectors
Enough replied to SPASierra's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
Go to a pull-a-part wrecking yard and grab one out of a wrecked truck. Either pop the safety clip out of the connector or find a cut harness with one. -
Poll: Does your truck have the rear window leak?
Enough replied to DuRsT's topic in 2019-2026 Silverado 1500 & Sierra 1500
2020 Silverado LT has been in the shop since Tuesday for the second attempt at fixing the leak. Truck now has 35,000 miles on it. Of course no loaners are available so I am driving my 1995 Nissan Hardbody. 27 years old with 130,000 miles on it and the slider doesn't leak on it...... -
My 2020 was "fixed". It still leaks. I can push the headliner up and see no cracks in the plastic molded to the slider. The water actually runs all of the way to the driver's side of the plastic then runs down the inside of the glass. So far the headliner is dry. I have to believe the back of the spoiler or the 3rd brake light are the source of the leak. I just wish there was a way to take the headliner completely out without damaging it so I could locate and fix the leak.
