  1. The step down on each model is the part number being superseded. Part numbers are superseded for various reasons. Find a part number under the MY and vehicle you're wanting a cluster for. Once you find one, just verify with Chris before purchase to be safe. If you're looking for a GAS 2016, then chose form the list whether you want/need the RED (GMC) or BLUE/GREEN (Chevy) lighting. Technically, these should work for nearly all 2016 Fullsize GAS Pickup/SUVs. Again, just to be safe, verify with Chris before purchase with YOUR VIN. 2016 GAS US SPEC - DENALI RED 2016 GAS US SPEC - DENALI STYLE LARGE DISPLAY BLUE/GREEN LIGHTING FOR CHEVY (SILVERADO/TAHOE/SUBURBAN ETC)
  2. You can do what I did but it is not the cheapest nor fastest route. I ordered my 2016 Tahoe UHS cluster from the dealer. It was on backorder at the time so I waited 3 months. I also had to pay the core charge because I did not have the same cluster to exchange running the price up. The plus side was it was brand new.
  3. Via his website: http://whiteautoandmedia.com/index.php?option=com_contact&view=contact&id=1&Itemid=56 Saturday and Sunday, 10am-4pm ET
  4. Big thanks to Phil (pgamboa) as I purchased the splice-in pigtail version of his harness back in December. Tuesday I finally received the 2018 module which had been on backorder and got everything installed that night in my 2016 Silverado. Everything works as it should as phone position is no longer an issue as it had been previously with my Samsung and it charges my phone faster than the 2016-17 module did. Last night I noticed it charges my wife's Samsung that has an Otterbox case even though it doesn't sit flush on the mat. I highly recommend this upgrade and Phil to everyone with a 2016 or 2017 with the wireless charging option.
  5. If you haven't contacted Chris (whiteautoandmedia.com) of WAMS, Anthony Brush of MVI (www.gm-navigation.com) can set you up as well as they are a vendor on here. There is certain programming that Chris does for MVI. Chris is very knowledgeable but WAMS hours are only over the weekend and MVI is open during the week. I've been pleased with WAMS as they are currently working on something for me. I've also purchased a few things from MVI and have been very pleased with their knowledge and customer service. You can't go wrong with either.
  6. You have those "extra options" because you have the All Terrain Package, very nice pickups. On yours, have you pulled the 2 DRL fuses in the fuse box in the engine compartment? That is all I had to do on my 2010 I had.
  7. On the K2 trucks, it's BCM controlled. Chris White of WAMS offers custom BCM programming. I've been looking into sending my BCM to him but want to do a couple things first. Check out their website, http://whiteautoandmedia.com/
  8. Depending on your phone, what I've done would display your phone on the screens but you'd still have to control everything on your phone and may need additional parts, i.e. MHL adapter etc. I've been considering getting a Fire Stick or something to use with my HDMI input linked to my Wi-Fi and see if it would work seamlessly. I would like to see those setups in person. I've seen video of the android setup that Performance Diesel is preordering and definitely want it!!! Based on what you're trying to do, I didn't take any pictures as I thought this would be more beneficial to what you're trying to do as I wrapped my harness back up and you can see anything beneficial. From the 12-pin connector for the rear console controls/inputs, these are the circuits I spliced into: Pin #4 - White Wire - Right Aux Audio Pin #5 - Yellow Wire - Left Aux Audio Pin #6 - Yellow Wire - Aux Video Pin #11 - Brown Wire - Aux Audio Common Pin #12 - Bare Wire - Aux Video Common I spliced in accordingly for my HDMI input. I assume you would need a new connector for the 2017 input, but you may be able to re-pin your harness accordingly and get it working, hopefully. I'm not sure if both the USB inputs would be operation or only just one if you went that route though. I can't find any wiring info for the 2017+ controls through my resources but someone who works for GM may be able to get you some info. I would assume MVI would be able to find this info if you wanted to reach out to them. There is also another vendor on here, pgamboa (Phil Gamboa) who I'm following as he is very knowledgeable and has done numerous things to his 2016 LT. He may also be able to dig up some information on this. Hopefully this helps you and if you get it working, definitely let me/us know.
  9. Would White Auto and Media Services (www.whiteautoandmedia.com) be able to do it? They show to offer custom BCM programming.
  10. I can get some pictures taken as that is one thing I forgot to take pictures of. The screen itself is wired to the disc drive along with the inputs from the rear of the center console. There is also a blue USB type cable that connects the overhead screen, the disc drive, the dash screen and the HMI if I remember correctly. I don't know of other options out there however the HDMI input that I used from MVI is spliced into the RCA inputs that is on the back of the console so it inputs to the disc drive. Since the screen is 720p, you won't have true HD resolution but since they are only 8" and 9.2", it doesn't matter IMO. What I've used the input so far for, everything has looked great. As of 2017, GM removed both the SD card input and the RCA input and now there is a factory HDMI input and 2 USB inputs on the back of the console. If you've thought about installing the 2017 parts and harness, I don't recommend it as there are more changes than just those for the rest of the truck but someone else may have more input on that. Once again, you don't get true HD resolution but it gives you the input so you can add modern devices/gaming consoles easier. There is also an area that I tapped into for the power supply on the USB port on the input from MVI which is at the connector for the console harness where it connects to the dash harness. If you purchase the HDMI input from MVI, they will have the wires labeled on where to splice into at or at the very least come with instructions on where to splice. I may be able to take the console apart later today and get you pictures, at least sometime this weekend.
  11. Gotcha, thanks Chris.
  12. Chris, Me too, with the trouble that mine has caused you guys for my 2016 diesel, you could have switched a 2016 Denali Diesel cluster to the Chevy Blue?
  13. First welcome to the forum! Lots of great knowledge can be found here. Don't be afraid to share some pics of that '17 Denali. Also hopefully my emails help and if have other questions, just let me know.
  14. Perfect excuse!!! I've always wanted to do that as I love the Mercedes AMGs that have the suede. You'd definitely need to post pics if you do. You've probably already thought of this but if they re-wrap your headliner, you should be able to cut the hole for the screen and have them fill the dome lamp hole with that piece and you wouldn't be able to tell. If you look closely at one of my pics, image 3, you can see where the dome lamp would go on the new headliner as it's almost "pre-stamped" to be cut at the factory. At the very least, if it was noticeable, it wouldn't be more than that. I considered having my headliner re-wrapped but no one remotely close to me does that so I just forked out the money for a new headliner which cost me $687 (wholesale). A co-worker had his Dodge Dakota headliner wrapped in suede when I live in the DFW area by a local shop and it was around $450 with him pulling the headliner if my memory hasn't failed me. I imagine it'd only be a little more than that for a Silverado due to size. Just remember it's a tight fit squeezing the headliner through the left rear door. An extra hand would be extremely helpful in order not to tear/scratch the headliner, especially if suede. Good luck!
  15. Manufacturers can only test so much. Consumers are beta testers and we as a whole are able to fully test the vehicles in all climates and conditions. There are always people who want the "latest and greatest" but no matter what, the first of production nearly always has some bugs or issues whether it's a vehicle or a cell phone. Due to technological advancements and the ever changing government regulations, this will always be the case. Due to my experience in the shop however, I will never purchase the first model year of a vehicle with a brand new drivetrain. Whether it be there are little glitches or they figured out they messed up big and make a vast improvement on whatever it is. Before I purchased my 2016, I was looking at a low mileage 2014 LML as my 2010 Silverado had been great for me. I knew the steering assist was new for 2016 and the MyLink system was still too new for my comfort level as I knew of too many people personally experiencing glitches with it though GM seems to be learning due to the software updates to it. The 2017 L5P were off the table due to the new drivetrain. Well I ended up buying the 2016 as they were nearly giving away the 2016's to make room for the 2017 L5Ps as it was nearly the same price as what they wanted for the 2014. Well with less than 900 miles on my truck, my HMI crapped out taking down the MyLink system and took nearly 2 months to get it replaced due to backorder. Then here recently, at 7,200 miles, the steering issue. It is what it is though but maybe I look at this different because of my technician experience. We as consumers need to realize as fast as technology changes, we need to be patient and understanding with the learning curve that is happening, especially when it comes to the electronics in vehicles. GM is finally stepping up in that department as they've lagged behind other manufactures, especially the Europeans, on certain features that have been out for 10+ years so it may be a little rougher until they catch up. Is it an inconvenience whenever something goes wrong? Of course. Does my experience make me hate my 2016 Silverado? No. Do I miss my 2010 Silverado that the only issue I ever had was the dash cracking (which was replaced under warranty)? Yes. Will I continue to buy GM vehicles? More than likely. To those people who purchase a brand new vehicle and expect it not to ever malfunction, is ridiculous. There is a warranty for a reason and just because you spent $XXX,XXX, means nothing. Enjoy your new vehicle and be happy you get a warranty in the US as not all countries get manufacturer warranties. I apologize for my rant.
  16. Thanks!! If you do this and need help on how I varied from their kit, let me know. Hopefully you have a sunroof because the headliner wasn't cheap.
  17. I have finally got around to finalizing the install of the OEM RSE system for my 2016 Silverado HD. This was the only option that I wanted that my pickup did not come with so I am extremely happy this is done and so is my son! I would like to give a BIG THANKS to Anthony and John at MVI (www.gm-navigation.com) as they are extremely knowledgeable and their customer service is top notch. I purchased MVI's in-dash Blu-ray and RSE kits along with the unlocked HMI module and added their HDMI input and third brake lamp camera with switch. The unlocked HMI is definitely worth the money over a Lockpick as you have full control while in motion and don’t have to worry about the Lockpick failing as I had 2 of 2 fail in my old 2010 Silverado. MVI supplied most of the parts though I did source a few parts from the dealer as I did vary a little from MVI's kit as I wanted the RSE controls in the center console which their current kit does not yet have but was told it is on their to-do list with many other projects. Their HDMI kit requires the RSE controls as you tap into those inputs. I removed one of the cigar lighter outlets in the front of the center console and mounted the HDMI input there. If you stick to their kit, the install is fairly simple IF you have a sunroof. Once again, MVI offers great customer service in case you do run into any glitches. They are also a vendor on here as well if you did not know. NOTE: ***NON-SUNROOF VEHICLES*** You do need a new headliner if you don't have a sunroof as you need the mounting bracket for the screen which offsets the screen from of the original position of the overhead dome lamp leaving ts existing hole exposed. On sunroof vehicles, the dome lamp and screen use the sunroof frame to mount to and you just enlarge the existing dome lamp hole.
  18. Just to confirm that PIT5501F is in fact the same as PIT5501E with the exception of removing the 2017 MY. Here it is for your reading pleasure. On the 60 mile trip home from the dealer, the issue appears to be resolved. #PIT5501F.pdf #PIT5501F.pdf #PIT5501F.pdf #PIT5501F.pdf
  19. According to my service advisor that I spoke with today, PIT5501F is the same as PIT5501E with the exception that they removed the 2017 MY. I have not seen it personally so I can't verify if that is the only change(s) but I am currently trying to schedule mine for service for this and I will try to get a copy.
  20. I have a similar whistle that seems to be from around the windshield but haven't had much time to try to track down the cause. Mine is intermittent dependent on how windy it is and the direction I'm traveling in comparison to the wind's direction but it can get very loud. Once I get some time and if I have any luck, I'll post here.
  21. The didn't make a Silverado diesel version in 2016 only the Sierra's (red backlight)
  22. As of last Thursday, mine still is.
  23. Dang. Guess I'll keep waiting for my Tahoe cluster.
  24. Have you had any luck making it backwards compatible for a 2016 yet?
  25. The crash avoidance and the HUD are in the same location which is why putting the SUV defroster panel in the pickups should work theoretically. Getting the SUV cluster visor to fit is where the modification needs to be made to the pickups dash pad is my assumption.
