  1. I used the body shop at Moore Shoreline Motors in Sebewaing
  2. Lights are working now, Dealer said the fuse must have blown when they connected the harness.
  3. Hmmm, I'll ask them about that Monday. It sounds like it must have been the right plug end to fit the light harness.
  4. I tow a lot of different trailers up to 14,000lbs so I have to have a heavy duty truck. That said my brother in law whom has always had half ton trucks and doesn't really need an HD either is seriously considering an HD next time for many of the reasons already stated plus they are a little taller and in many opinions look better.
  5. I mistakenly forgot to order the cab marker lights on my 2025 3500 trail boss. After looking at the well written post on doing it yourself by hotairgypsy I decided that it would be better left to the professionals. The body shop at my local dealership got the lights installed and plugged them into the existing plug in the headliner but no lights. Obviously they have never done this on one of the newer trucks. This was late on Friday afternoon and I needed the truck for the weekend. The body shop manager said something about looking for a code number to be able to contact GM with to get another code to allow them to reprogram something. But the number he thought he was looking for wasn't there. I'm just curious if any more knowledgeable or tech savvy people out there have any ideas on what the issue is and how to actually get the lights to work.
  6. I don't remember a ratcheting tool either, but I can see where if a camper overhangs in the back it would be a pain to use the existing tool. One of the best things I have in my truck now at all times is a Milwaukee 1/2" drive cordless impact tool and a set of metric and SAE sockets, it will take the lugnuts on and off of anything in seconds. If I had a camper still I would rig up some sort of adapter for the spare tire carriage system.
  7. Reminded me of my first new truck speaking of gutless, a 76 C-10 with a 250 straight 6 and 3 on the tree. I used to deliver softener salt in the Flint area with it and it really struggled trying to merge onto 75 with 15 bags of salt in it. Back to the original post, I do hope they add some more color choices for sure.
  8. I just put in an order for a black long bed crew cab trail boss, My dealer said they didn't see any current constraints on my package. We'll see
  9. I put marathon seat covers on all my trucks, custom made in Montana, you can add extra pouches on the fronts and backs if you like. Fit is great
  10. I traded my 2024 for my boss's 2023 to use on a trip to North Dakota, so I could keep the miles off mine. I got in, put it in reverse and immediately noticed the rear camera was not working. I asked him about it and he said it just stopped working a few days ago. Any Ideas if it's something simple I can do or is it most likely a trip to a dealer.
  11. Took delivery 7/1/23 of my 2024 long bed from the Flint plant, which is what my preference was. Happy so far, some minor changes that I prefer from my 2020. Overall I love the new truck.
  12. Originally ordered an LT gasser crew cab long box, 12/20/23, sometime in April dealer said they had a slot and could do everything but long box, I said go with it as I wanted the truck asap. Two weeks ago they called and said they had kept the order in for the long box and it was actually being built also. Both are in transit now and it looks like the long box will arrive sooner anyway as the standard box is coming from Oshawa.
  13. My last two trucks came from Flint and I had no problems, plus it just felt kind of good to be driving a truck built in the plant I had driven by probably a thousand times, maybe more. You would think you could get it a little faster when the dealership is 20 minutes away for sure.
  14. Thanks for the thoughts, So The long box would be from Flint which I suspected. Now to figure out if I want to wait for it. The old 2020 has 145k on it and I do a lot of driving.
  15. I ordered a 2024 3500 gasser crew cab long bed. About 6 weeks ago my dealer contacted me and said they had an allocation for a truck and could do everything I wanted except the long bed. I wanted a truck asap so I said order it but let me know if a long bed build becomes available in the near future as if it were only a matter of 2-3 weeks I might wait for the long bed. So the short bed is built and in transit from Oshawa. I was told the long bed build was also picked up but they don't know where it's coming from until they get a vin#. I would rather have the long bed and I would rather have a truck from the Flint plant I think. I actually grew up in the area and had friends that worked at the truck plant so there's a little bit of sentiment involved. But just curious if anyone has reason to believe the quality is better in one plant or the other.
  16. I was hoping for the blue also and was also told if I wanted a truck sooner it would have to be black or white and white is a no go for me.
  17. I manage a few properties and one is in North Dakota, the rest are in several locations in Michigan
  18. As far as oil consumption with the 6.6 gasser it hasn't been an issue for me, except for the time when the oil change garage didn't fully tighten the filter and I noticed a puddle in my driveway. I tow 14k rated trailers regularly sometimes at full capacity and maybe a little extra once in a while. 137,500 on the odometer today. Best truck I've owned and I've owned a lot of them.
  19. I was never one to constantly check mileage as it's kind of like you said, Ya don't buy these trucks for mileage. I had a 16 2500HD with the 6.0 and I didn't check a lot but I never got better than 11-12 without a load, and towing it was like 5-9. My 2020 3500HD gasser was very surprising in that it not only had a lot more power it got significantly better mileage both towing and not. Almost 140,000 on my 2020 and can't wait to get my hands on a 24 with the Allison.
  20. I'm hoping that I am not too late in the game as my dealer says I have their first allocation, but until something happens I will wonder. I hear of people tracking their order and talking of the build status numbers. Can anyone tell me how this is done.
  21. Yes I'm wondering about the dealer level problems too. I originally put in an order in Oct of 22 and was then told in January, all builds would now be 2024. I'm actually happy about that now as I think the Allison transmission is a great upgrade. I supposedly have the top spot for a 2024 at my dealer so hopefully GM can get it done.
  22. I know a long title but it pretty much explains it. I would like to get a 2024 in my hands asap. I know the GMC configurator is up so does that mean I would probably get a GMC sooner. Does anyone have any real knowledge or experience other than the dealers standard 2-6 months answer. I have a lot of miles on my 2020 and want to upgrade.
  23. I was thinking of ordering the Downpour Metallic and was told by a dealer today that it's not available yet so they recommended titanium rush if I wanted the order built sooner rather than later
  24. I've had mostly used trucks along the way. My first new was an 89, on which I put over 350k on and never had anything go wrong with the motor. many others in excess of 100k and a couple in excess of 200k Upon some research it seems a catch can is used mainly with direct injected engines. So a new question would be, with 50,000 miles on the truck already should I do something to to the intake system before adding a catch can system?
